Reviewers had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the staff for their warmth, knowledge, and genuine passion for animals, making the entire process pleasant and stress-free. Many people highlight the excellent customer service, noting the helpful advice, aftercare support, and the willingness of the company to answer questions even after the puppy has gone home. The puppies themselves are frequently described as well-looked after, happy, healthy, and well-socialized, with many reviewers expressing complete satisfaction with their new family members. However, some customers also noted concerns regarding the origin of the puppies, suggesting they are imported from Northern Ireland and raising questions about breeding practices. A few other people also felt that the kennels were untidy, with some puppies appearing scared or lacking energy, and mentioned unpleasant smells in some pens. There were also isolated reports of puppies becoming ill or having health issues after purchase, with some reviewers expressing strong dissatisfaction.

Don’t fund this hellhole

If I could rescue every single poor little baby from this place I would. I cannot wait until Lucy’s Law is implemented in NI and this place finally gets a taste of their own medicine.
I implore you to watch the Channel 4 Documentary on YouTube, help bring justice to Arthur, who wouldn’t even be 2 years old today, and all the other little babies who sadly were taken too soon (the other 1 star reviews on here tell you all you need to know).

The 5 star reviews look great sure, and the location in Pendle even looks nice, but not every dog will have long term suffering, and I can guarantee they spent their early days away from their mum, shipped off from Ireland, scared, alone and with no love and cuddles that every baby deserves.

Boycott, boycott, boycott. How they sleep at night whilst others have to hold their whole world dying in their arms makes me feel sick.

Lovely, caring family business!

We visited Douglas Hall Kennels on a couple of occasions prior to committing to picking up our newest addition to the family. It was very clean, the staff were very professional and helpful and most importantly it was very clear that all the pups were very well looked after and cared for.

For Walter

If I could give 0, I would..
In April 2022, I visited Douglas Hall Kennels as I had done so before to see some VERY cute puppies. I didn’t go with the intention of purchasing, just to cuddle a few puppies to pass time on a lovely Sunday. However, I saw some beautiful Morkies and as soon as I picked the little guy up. I was hooked, he was so fluffy and tiny and was shaking. My husband looked at me and said “do you want him?” I couldn’t say no. We asked if we could take him and filled out all of the relevant paperwork. I hadn’t read any reviews, done any research into DHK and to be honest, I wouldn’t change my time with Walter. He was cheeky, spicy loving and VERY vocal. A perfect mix of the chaos I wanted in my life. He was SO beautiful. I started to notice around 1 year old he was a little “picky” with his food. I put this down to the Yorkie side of him as I know they can be fussy. He would sometimes go a day without his food which again was odd but not enough to make me worry as then he would start eating normally again. Every now and then he would vomit, I’d have him health checked and everything seemed fine. A month after his 3rd birthday, Walter vomited again, this time there was a tiny TINY speck of blood in it. Even though it was a Friday evening he was my priority so we took him to out of hours. They blood tested him and immediately told us there was something wrong with his kidney readings. They offered to keep him over night, I took him home as otherwise he seemed well with the idea I would take him to his own vets the morning after. He vomited again so in the night so I got too worried an sent him back to out of hours where thy kept him over the weekend to give him fluids and check if his kidney readings would come down. They gave him an ultrasound scan which showed one of his kidneys were 1cm smaller than the other and they were full of scars. This was devastating and I started to worry I may have dropped the ball and he had eaten something he shouldn’t have. At this point he had been off his food for a while, so it was unlikely that he had, still I worried. This in all cost us around £2k. I collected him the Sunday evening to then take him to our vets on the Monday as I was advised he would have to go to Manchester for further scans costing £4k. Our vet did another ultrasound on him to diagnose a 3 year old dog with congenital kidney disease. Meaning HE WAS BORN WITH KIDNEY DISEASE. The vet gave him a month or two to live. I was devastated. With homemade kidney friendly food and medication we got just short of 10 months out of him before he finally couldn’t go on and gave up 23rd December 2025. I immediately got on to DHK via instagram and got blocked and my comments deleted. I read some reviews and could not believe I hadn’t checked. Dogs with liver shunt, heart failure puppies, young dogs dying. I emailed them and it was like pulling teeth trying to get a response! “Vet was away” 2 weeks later nothing. I finally heard back after chasing up and I got a reply of
“ Hi Stacie

Thanks for that

We would say in this case unfortunately he would of just been born with the condition, and not to from the parents

We are really sorry to hear about this and send our condolences, it is a very sad and rare event

Many thanks
Douglas Hall Kennels Team 🐾”
I had initially contacted via email asking about the parents as reading their Chat GPT prompted responses just gave me chills!

This is NOT a rare occasion! There was no offer of compensation. On their website it reads “ Why Should I Buy a Morkie Puppy from Douglas Hall Kennels?

When you buy a crossbreed puppy from Douglas Hall Kennels, such as a Morkie, you can have peace of mind knowing that you are bringing home a healthy and well-socialised puppy.” peace of mind knowing you are bringing home a HEALTHY puppy.
Nothing will bring back Walter. I shouldn’t have to mention there was no compensation I should have had the chance to turn it down (which is what I would have done as he meant more to me than the money I spent on him!)
Walter was born unhealthy as are clearly so many others! I feel very tempted to take them to court over this as I have all the time and money now it isn’t going on my poor sweet boy! Walter deserved better than this.
Please DO NOT bother responding with a Chat GPT response it’s EXTREMELY embarrassing for you.

Puppy farm importing young pups from…

Got a cockapoo from here few years ago , he’s beautiful and loving but very very anxious always has been. Puppy farm importing young pups from Northern Ireland !! stressed and anxious dogs breeding leading to anxious pups with temperamental behaviours and lots of physiological trauma , he became aggressive…. had to give him
up he was unsafe around my children. you can’t see mum and dad when asked , this is a business not a place that has dogs best interest at all, please watch the channel 4 documentary Exposing Uk Puppy Farm, these are not people that truely care about dogs , encouraging everyone to come and handle to pups without anyone monitoring it. It felt very clinical. They may write long repetitive replies but ultimately it’s morally not an ok way to breed dogs and they have been exposed. Please don’t keep this place going and buy a pup from them, dogs deserve better than this.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you faced with your dog. Rehoming a pet is never an easy decision, especially when children are involved, and we understand how distressing that must have been for you and your family.
We would like to respectfully clarify a few important points. The location where puppies are bred does not determine their personality or future temperament. Over the years, we have placed many puppies into loving homes, and they have gone on to live happy, well-balanced lives. Temperament is influenced by a combination of genetics, early socialisation, environment, and ongoing training once a puppy joins its new family.
While anxiety and behavioural challenges can unfortunately develop in some dogs, this is not solely attributable to breeding location. Dogs, like people, are individuals, and occasionally issues arise despite appropriate care and responsible breeding practices. We believe this to be an unfortunate and isolated situation rather than a reflection of the overall experiences of the many families who have welcomed healthy, happy pups from us.
We strongly refute any suggestion that we operate as a “puppy farm” or that we disregard the welfare of our dogs. We are committed to responsible practices, proper care, and ensuring our puppies are ready for family homes. We also encourage safe and positive interactions when families visit, as early socialisation is an important part of development.
Regarding the programme mentioned, addresses serious issues within parts of the industry; however, we do not accept that it accurately represents our practices or standards.

Fantastic journey from start to finish…

Fantastic journey from start to finish when choosing our pup. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Douglas Hall provided everything we needed. Answered all our questions and were very professional. All
puppies were well looked after and all get vet checked, have injections, microchipped etc. Fantastic after care aswell. They literally couldn’t do anything more. Would recommend to all !!!!
The only difficult bit was choosing which puppy to have - wanted to take them all home!

I would highly recommend buying a puppy from here as all puppies are in excellent health and well looked after. The kennels are well kept and very clean. I love that you can just show up and have a cuddle with all the puppies. You really get to bond with the puppy before buying.
Douglas Hall Kennels also do follow up phone calls with you after a few weeks to insure everything is going well and check if you need help with anything.
I had a really positive experience and would highly recommend.

If I could give these guys a 0 star I would, please avoid at all costs. It is a puppy farm.
It’s a money making machine, they don’t actually care for the pups and don’t take temperament into account at all. Anyone can wander in and take them on the day without being vetted.
They import them from Ireland where they are just used to breed and taken from their mums at 9 weeks. Neither parents can be seen and they develop the most neurotic behaviour.
No responsibility is taken, and they continue to sell and breed. This place needs to be shut down

Thank you for your review, Karen.
We have no record of you visiting us or purchasing a puppy from us.
For clarity, our puppies leave for their new homes at 9 weeks of age, which is fully compliant with UK welfare standards and licensing requirements, as this is when puppies are fully weaned and developmentally ready.
We are a fully licensed breeder and meet all standards set out in the local authority legislation, which is extensive and strictly enforced. These standards make it impossible for licensed breeders like ourselves to operate as puppy farms.
We welcome prospective owners to visit us, meet the puppies , and see firsthand the care, environment, and welfare standards we provide. We are proud of the many five-star reviews from families who have done so.
Unverified reviews can unfortunately discourage people from choosing reputable, licensed breeders like ourselves and may unintentionally push them toward unlicensed sellers, which is detrimental to animal welfare.

Puppy love

Me and my 2 children went here just to cuddle the puppies, ended up falling in love with them all and went again. My son picked out a Cockalier and we all fell in love with her. The staff there are so helpful and are ready to ask any questions. Me and my children have never had a dog before so we fired 100s of questions at them and they was so helpful and made me feel confident. If you are thinking of getting a puppy to join your family go and give Douglas Hall kennels a visit. Thank you so much for everything

Highly recommend

We went to visit Douglas Hall Kennels after lots of searching on line to find a breeder for a Multipoo for 9 year old. The facility was lovely and clean and all the puppies were calm and relaxed. We were encouraged to spend as much time as we wanted and were welcome to pick up and hold the puppies. Quite a lot of people were there the day we visited but the puppies all seemed well adjusted and happy to be picked up by different people. This is our first dog and the staff happily answered our many questions and offered helpful advice. We found the perfect puppy (a Cavapooshon), even though we’d intended to just go and look for the first visit! The kennels helpfully had reasonably priced Puppy Packs (Crate, bed, bowl, toys, harness and lead, puppy pads, food) so we went away with everything we needed to get started settling in with our new puppy. She has settled in so well in the four weeks we’ve now had her. She has a lovely temperament and is very relaxed meeting new people and recently other dogs too. I really feel the way the puppies get used to lots of people visiting the kennels and holding them is a big reason for her being so comfortable with meeting new people. Would highly recommend the kennels but be prepared that going for ‘just for a look’, you may well end up with a puppy in the car in the way home like we did! Couldn’t be happier. Brilliant kennels

We purchased our gorgeous Zuchon puppy on 4th January 2026 from here. We went for a look around and the owners were lovely, there was no pressure and we were able to handle any of the puppies there. We chose our puppy who was 20 weeks old and had had all his vaccinations and was microchipped. We were given lots of advice and all his paperwork and advised to take him to our own vets to have him checked, we did this and our vet gave him an excellent bill of health. The kennels were extremely clean and all the puppies were happy and healthy. We didn’t book an appointment to go to view we just turned up and it was obvious that the owners care about their puppies. It is the first kennels we have been to that let you handle the puppies and if you wanted you could also groom them. We would definitely recommend this kennels to anyone who is thinking about getting a puppy.

Returning customer

We purchased a female Cockerpoo from Douglas Hall approximately 9 years ago and when we unfortunately lost her last year, there was only one place which we considered for our next furry family member, a beautiful Cavapoochon Mabel. The staff were all the same as all those years ago and their ‘no pressure, asking anything’ attitude was once again greatly appreciated. The dogs are well kept in warm, clean surroundings with regular vet visits. More than happy to recommend these kennels

Let’s see the farms…

Although the staff were very friendly and informative, I just couldn’t get a dog from here. After visiting with the children we told some friends who encouraged us to watch a channel 4 documentary (Kyle Thomas). I am now relieved we didn’t walk away with a pup. I could not fund an organisation like this. They seem to use licences (which are important) to justify what’s going on.

The obvious question that begs to be answered is “why Northern Ireland?”

And why no photos of your facility over there if it’s “state of the art”

If there’s nothing wrong or upsetting about where these dogs come from, let’s see an accurate account. A video of the living situation for all the mums. This would put a lot of us at ease and silence the doubters.

Hopefully these questions will be answered truthfully and not deflected with the “we are fully licensed” rhetoric.

I recommend anyone serious about buying a puppy to visit the Cockapoo Club of Great Britain’s Approved Breeders page. They list all CCGB inspected and approved breeders.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for acknowledging that our staff were friendly and informative during your visit.

Both of our facilities — in England and Northern Ireland — are fully licensed and regulated by the relevant local authorities, operating under DEFRA-aligned animal welfare legislation. These licences apply not only to puppies, but to all breeding dogs, accommodation, enrichment, veterinary oversight, staffing ratios, record-keeping, and inspection regimes. Our licences are renewed following physical inspections, not based on images, videos, or marketing material.

Northern Ireland operates under its own animal welfare legislation, which is equivalent in welfare standards and is routinely used by many UK breeders due to differences in administrative structure — not differences in welfare expectations. This is well understood within the regulated breeding sector.

Edited television programmes and social-media commentary — including the Channel 4 documentary referenced — are not evidence, are not produced by regulatory bodies, and do not form part of any licensing, enforcement, or inspection process. Our facilities are assessed by qualified inspectors and veterinary professionals with statutory authority, not by media outlets or influencers.

With regard to imagery, licensing authorities do not require breeders to publicly publish footage of breeding facilities, nor would doing so accurately reflect daily operations, inspection standards, or animal welfare compliance. Welfare is judged through in-person inspections, documentation, veterinary records, and compliance audits, all of which we meet and exceed.

We fully support prospective owners researching responsibly and welcome comparison with any licensed breeder — including those listed by organisations such as the Cockapoo Club of Great Britain. However, it is important to note that club affiliation is not a legal or welfare requirement, and many fully compliant, high-welfare breeders choose not to participate in private club schemes.

We are proud of our standards, our transparency with regulators, and the thousands of families who continue to recommend us based on their direct experience — not edited media narratives.

We wish you the very best in finding the right puppy for your family.

Invitation Accepted....or Not As The Case May Be!!!

Further to your somewhat belated (due no doubt to your trying to have it removed from Trustpilot)response to my recent comment.
I would wholeheartedly like to take up the invitation of viewing your licenced breeding facilities to clear up any preconceived misconceptions potential puppy purchasers may have.
Should I contact your Clabby Road premises directly for this,or make the appointment through yourselves?
Transparency of your breeding operation via first-hand evidence will, I'm sure help with people's negative concerns over your reputation.
******
The invitation it seems has been revoked...no surprise there then!!!!!

Hi Simon,
Thank you for your message.
Firstly, we do not hold any power to remove reviews from Trustpilot. Reviews are moderated solely by Trustpilot’s own policies and rules. If a review is flagged, it is because Trustpilot’s system requires additional information or verification — not because we can choose to remove it. We understand how this may be misunderstood, but it is simply not something we control.

Regarding your request to visit our facilities:

Just as nursery standards, food hygiene, or school safeguarding policies are not decided by members of the public with no training, the same applies in animal welfare. People without qualifications or professional experience cannot determine welfare standards. These standards are set, audited and enforced by councils, veterinary professionals and DEFRA-regulated authorities to ensure the wellbeing of animals.

Kind regards,

Thank you for sharing your concerns.
We would like to clarify that Douglas Hall Kennels is a fully licensed UK breeder, inspected under DEFRA and local authority welfare regulations. All puppies are bred by us, not sourced from third parties.

Our Northern Ireland kennels are purpose-built, centrally heated, and operated exclusively by us, inspected under DAERA licensing.

Every puppy leaves us vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated, with full paperwork and a signed sales contract advising an independent vet check within 48 hours.

We appreciate that online claims can be worrying, and we encourage customers to visit us in person, review our licences, and speak to our team directly so they can see our standards first-hand.

Clover

We recently bought our puppy from Douglas Hall Kennels and couldn’t be happier. Our little Clover has settled in so well and has been an absolute joy. She was 10 weeks old when we brought her home and is now 4.5 months—healthy, happy, and thriving.

I’ve already been asked where we got her, and I’m always happy to recommend Douglas Hall Kennels. They’ve been amazing from the start and are always just a phone call away whenever we need advice. Their support has made the whole experience so reassuring.

Can’t thank you enough for our wonderful Clover!

Douglas Hall Kennels were wonderful…

Douglas Hall Kennels were wonderful from start to finish. They clearly care for their pups and their welfare and that shows in the temperament of the pups. We have one and so do our friends and both are beautifully adjusted boys.

They said repeatedly they'd rather take a dog back than see it in rescue and I think that shows their care and lifelong commitment to their pups.

They were willing to hold our pup an extra few days whilst we waited for some money to come in and were generally really friendly, really flexible and really very good all round.

Wholly recommend, my best dog buying experience by far.

Thank you so much Ezra for such a thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear that both your pup and your friends’ pup have settled in so beautifully — temperament and welfare are at the heart of everything we do, so your feedback truly means a lot.

We always say that our commitment doesn’t end at the point of sale, and we would much rather take a puppy back than ever see them in rescue. Knowing that this resonated with you is incredibly reassuring.

It was a pleasure to look after your pup those extra days, and we’re glad we could make the process smooth and stress-free. Thank you again for your kind words and recommendation — we wish you many happy years ahead with your boy 🐾💛
