I experienced a blockage in my kitchen and called Drain Doctor. Their customer service was excellent once more. Joyce promptly arranged an appointment, and the engineer, whose name I believe is Charlie, effectively and quickly resolved the issue.

Drain doctor as a company seem to be very good and professional but the drainage engineer who visited me (Dan) was the rudest, messiest worker I have ever come across. He made access to and from my home very difficult with 2open manholes on narrow path to my front door and all tools and hoses left between with no regard to the safety of an elderly resident. Ask simple questions and he turned his back (after being informed I am deaf) mumbled then turned around every time! threatening to pack up and leave the job unfinished. I phoned the office and was told he was on a tight schedule. Appalling service. I have had drain doctor before but the engineer was polite, efficient and couldn’t have been more helpful, despite his tight schedule. Depends on the person you get working at your home I guess.
Thank you to the Drain Doctor for reply comments but there was no use of guards on open drains until ONE on the last day. The narrow path from my front door to the road was continually blocked, with no resident or visito access consideration, despite several requests

I wish to complain about the shockingly bad service I received from Drain Doctor on 10th April.
Last Saturday 13th April Thames Water sent an identical looking old beat up van like Drain Doctors to sort out my sewage problem which Eric from your company could not. The guy from Thames Water removed the drain covers which Eric removed, felt around with his rods and advised that the second drain emptied everything into the main sewer under the road. He used about 5 or 6 rods screwed together to reach the blockage, found he couldn't clear it by rodding alone. He then brought from the van a length of steel pipe about 3 meters long with a bend in it. He placed this into the sewer as far as he could and then pushed in about 30 metres of flexible hose pipe up to the blockage then started up his high pressure hosing which cleared the blockage in no time.
When Eric came from your company he had only two rods in the van. He had no steel pipe to put the high pressure hose into, he just poked the high pressure hose into the hole in the living room floor which was full of sewage in the vain hope of poking it into the correct sewer outlet. He should have have known to put a steel pipe in first then feed the high pressure hose deep into the sewer. Needless to say when Eric switched on the high pressure there was sewage and water flying everywhere as the pipe had gone nowhere except into the base of the sewer and was now flying around in the middle of the room like an angry snake spouting water.
There were 3 massive things wrong with the service from Drain Doctor.
1.Eric did not have a clue what he was doing. He was unable to locate the blockage, the Thames Water guy figured it out within 10 minutes.
2. Eric had only two rods, the Thames Water guy needed about 5 or 6 rods to reach the blockage.
3. Eric had no steel pipe or did not even know that he had to use a steel pipe to guide the high pressure hose deep into the correct sewage outlet.
Eric from Drain Doctor's incompetence is totally unbelievable.

First of all, i asked to be telephoned an hour before the engineer arrived. Was informed the repvous day that he had a job in Kent so would let me know when he was on his way. First thing i heard was when I received a call from someone at home that he had arrived!
Secondly, aftre some to ad fro told me he couldn't clear the blockage as it went round a bend and he would need to get on the roof to access the external drain but it was too wet to go on to the roof. Suggestion was to carry on trying from inside without any idea of how long it would take.
Thirdly, I had asked for a camera to investigate the cause and was told by the engineer that he couldn't put the camera in until after the blockage was cleared. I would have believed that were it not for the engineer that came a few days later who cleared the blockage using his camera in 20mins. Didnt need to climb on the roof and blockage wasn't in the bend.
Frankly, this was a waste of £168

Slow flowing drain I have to flush bin full of water several times every morning to move my sewer waste from my private pipe under my kitchen extension to where it joins onto public drain's.
Called Drain Doctor (Enfield Region)
From the start I asked are you able to fix a belly in the sewer line under my kitchen extension as their is no point paying for a survey if you cant, YES was the answer, but I must have a £300 + Vat CCTV survey first which I happily agreed to and paid. After booking a appointment a week later Team turned up 4hrs late and surveyed everyone else's Thames Water supported drain, excellent footage and report on all my neighbor's drains with all their problems as they were clear and free flowing, but not mine because it was flooded, so abandoned my 17 Meter run, err as I have a problem Hence calling Drain Doctor not doing this for fun, did not pump out water to get clear footage even though they were asked to by their office but apparently to muddy to bring the equipment in, even though I have a back access through the garage not muddy. So after all that I am informed a month later after numerous phone calls that they don’t actually do in line repairs (so what was the point of the initial CCTV survey when they actually can’t repair it after being told the problem at first contact?)
even though I specifically told them the problem I had after Thames Water showed me their CCTV footage after pumping out the water but they couldn’t repair it as it’s private and recommended Drain Doctor. It’s a bit like a garage examining somebody’s else’s car, invoicing you for the privilege then telling you they can’t actually fix yours anyway and it’s not their fault they could not look at yours. Money literally down the drain excuse the pun. Very disappointed truly feel ripped off paying for a CCTV survey of every ones drain apart from mine. A Month wasted trying to get my drain repaired and now on top of December so will have to suffer until the New Year.
UPDATE: head office looked into this and said it’s a Thames Water issue, and Thames Water say they don’t do private drains and suggested that someone actually looks at my drain and leave the public drain ones to them. You literally could make a comedy sketch out of this. I have just pumped out my drain myself after accessing neighbours manhole cover gone 3 metres under my extension with an old iPhone and a led light now I actually have useful footage to show.

I had a problem with smells emanating from a manhole in my kitchen so I phoned Drain Doctor to carry out a survey of the pipework. This was carried out within a week by a very nice operative who was very thorough in his investigations and showed me on camera where the problems were. I received a quote a little later explaining how to rectify the matter. My problem was sorted over two days by a very knowledgeable operative who explained what he was doing which put me at ease. I have nothing but good things to say about this company, from the helpful ladies in the office to the guys who completed the work. Thank you
