Easystep installed a Thyssen Flow 2…

Easystep installed a Thyssen Flow 2 stairlift for us some years ago, and the installation engineer did a good job. Our stairlift stuck in the middle of the stair the other day, so we asked if they could help. We don't deal with that brand any more, they said, and you haven't had your machine serviced by us, so no, we can't help. I have to say their attitude was most unhelpful when you're in trouble. So decide for yourself.

My sister had a stairlift fitted due to…

My sister had a stairlift fitted due to her having a disability. The engineer who fitted it was polite and professional. She has had a few minor issues with it since. The batteries went in the remote control and after having found these weren't covered in the monthly fee we purchased them from a supermarket. An engineer came to check the lift as my sister had other issues with it. When we mentioned the batteries he said, using air quotes, that the remote needed "special batteries". He did this several times. He said the supermarket ones are OK but they can be hit and miss. He said we could buy these "special batteries" online. My sister went to talk to him about the other issues she was having with the stairlift and I came in just in time to see her storm off, saying whatever. She was upset for some reason. I asked if the lift could be called manually and the engineer avoided the question. I asked again and got no straight answer. Anyway, he gave us a spare remote. He later spoke to me. I noticed he was talking down to me as if I was stupid and I understood why my sister lost her temper/was upset. She later confirmed this after he had left. I also checked the spare handset he gave us and it did not contain the "special batteries" but Duracell which are the batteries we took out of the remote controls. I could not find these special batteries online. The company itself may be good but it was this particular engineer that let it down.
