Bad online deals, worse business models

I had stopped buying from EB Games years ago because the prices were outrageous in comparison to other retailers and the service had become below substandard. They recently held a "Mad Monday" sale and I thought why not try to get some online deals, but no, items that were listed as in stock were out of stock, delivery options were a nightmare and the website stock listings were just outright wrong. In addition they opened the sale early to all their paid subscribers and the people who have their "Level V EB World Membership" (i.e. exclusive club for people who can afford to spend $5-10K+ a year on videogames and collectibles), so not only was there stock a complete jokes but anything good on sale went to people who could afford it when it wasn't extremely discounted. A scummy retailer with garbage prices and terrible web design.

I used to have nothing but good things…

I used to have nothing but good things to say about EB Games up until 2-3 years ago Have not bought a thing from them for this amount of time! Guess they just programmed their stuff to say that looks like a wear and tear issue never used the item till one day decided to pull it out of the box three uses later it broke I was six months down the track and clearly, you could see it was a product manufacture issue where the plastic on the turtle beach headset was faulty. bad customer service! I feel really ashamed that I used to spend 15k plus at this store a year beforehand. I will never buy anything from here ever again. This is just an example of four items I brought back for shame EB this is just appalling. Can't believe I wasted so much money in this store. they never even replied when this issue was raised in store. When the manager said would hear back from EB head office within a couple of days. Just Saying Don't waste your time or money on these sores just shop around and get it elsewhere, cheaper and under a better warranty!!!!

EB Games in Brunswick Victoria has terrible customer service. Happed on the 08 November 2024 Saturday. The hillbilly that was working there should get the sack. I hope the manager see this. I will never go to the Brunswick store ever again. I don't go out of my way but this guy really ticked me off.

World Plus a scam

EB Games/Zing were already on the "A bit too greedy" list. Almost all their merchandise is marked up around 20% compared to their competitors.

But now, now, they have introduced a sca- *cough, cough* I mean "Loyalty" scheme on top of their existing one. But the difference is, this one is a paid subscription.

Get this right, for 25 dollarydoos per quarter, you can get a free "x" after buying 10 "x"'s ... so at a mark up of 20% that means you effectively miss out on 2 "x"s because of their prices, they'll reward you with a free one. So that means you're only down one "x" and you paid for that privilege.

The whole thing is a scam. Designed to get you to shop at their stores more so you feel like you're getting your dollars-worth. But it doesn't matter how much you spend, you're still paying more than what any other shops offer.

Do the world a favour and buy your stuff at other shops. Not only is it cheaper, but they're also not scamming you in the progress. And chances are your money isn't going to some greedy, anticompetitive, corporate overlords overseas.

EB games store is retaliating against previous complaint.

An EB games store is retaliating against a complaint I made a week ago and a previous complaint that was from three months ago and banned me only now at that one, saying I'm a trouble maker.

Making them follow consumer rights doesn't make me a trouble maker and stores have complaint processes, their the ones being unreasonable.

Customers don't get unhappy with stores for no reason, they don't get to retaliate like this. I don't about your right to refuse service when your the one being unreasonable over something was protected under the law, EB games agreed to take responsibility for the problem and now their retaliating.

Two complaints over 15 years is not a troublemaker. The fact companies can be like this and get away with it is disgusting.

You can ban all you want, but that doesn't mean I don't have feelings and I'm going to angry at you. You're the ones financially damaging yourself, I haven't done anything.

EB Games is doing the best it can to turn away customers.

1) Can no longer buy online and get games shipped to my address as they work on a inventory model where only games with lots of stock are shipped.

2) Can no longer buy with PayPal.

3) Subscription service of no benefit.

Scam company

I ordered some games from their website, first order I had 7 games and the shipping was normal. The second order was 6 games and the shipping was double because their system default the shipping not using Auspost but with Startrack, all because this store is in CBD. I complain why this was the case their response after 4 weeks we passed feedback over to Auspost. It has nothing to do with Auspost. Not only do they over charge their customers on pricing on games and shipping they have poor customer service.

Sales people not good

The sales representative at orchard park mall GameStop are a joke. They don’t ask the customers about their membership at the store. The sales representative will just scanned the product that the customer is buying not asking “do you have a membership with us”? Unlike in CALGARY which the people there do there job pretty good.

Member card

Back in march 2023 I received a level 4 EB card! Posted it online for everyone to see.
I have been a loyal EB customer my entire life, even though everyone know how over priced their games are. I brought all my games purely through Eb to receive the member points and level up my card.

After using my level 4 card a handful of times. October 2023, I went into the maddington EB store (I’m a regular and a new lady had just started working and this was my first time being served by her). Handed my card over and was told my card didn’t have an account attached to it. I asked did you guys do some data maintenance with the accounts as I have used this card a few times already she said NO and proceeded to show me my account which was a level 2? I then asked well how did I even get this card, she looked at me like I was a criminal, like I stole it from behind the counter some how and she said I have no idea how you got it and took my card. I said you don’t know how much you have broken my heart and she couldn’t care at all, she just wanted me to leave.

So because of this and the way i was treated, I will never return to EB games again!

Always great level of service and the trade in with the loyalty card is well worth it. Even better that they price match. BUT nothing justifies why they are the most expensive retailer for video games. $109 at eb vs 79 at JB?? If I didn't know about price match it would be so expensive

I shop at EB games a decent amount but I’m not going back

I shop at EB games a decent amount, but I’ve decided that I will never shop there again, the amount they charge for games is absolutely ridiculous and it’s no different for the merch, I bought some PlayStation lights from eb games for 45$ and I found them at Kmart for 20$! And when I asked for a refund the guy at the register refused to give me a refund. I also a little while back bought a PREOWNED Version of SSBU (Smash bros) and it costed 77$ for a pre owned version, I could buy a brand new game from there for even less!!! Last thing, I got a duffel bag as a gift from a friend, I went into the store the other day and that duffel bag costed 50$ what the hell are with these prices!! this is absolutely ridiculous!

Unfair and horrible customer service

Brought two PS5's with trade in of nitendo switch for one and xbox series s on the other, the PS5's 4k wouldn't work on my 4k TVs. I my family tried for two days to get it 4k to work but just wouldn't happen so I took the consoles back and explained what was happening and that i wanted a refund, they said I needed evidence of the issue I'm having. I ended up buying two xbox series X's on the same day from the ebgames Burnie store and went home to despute the matter to ebgames customer service as it is easier to give evidence in an email. Even after evidence and footage of the issue and the evidence of the horrible blurry graphics they still wanted me to buy another game and test that and show the evidence. I mean who the hell buys another game for a machine that won't play the games you love to play. The Xbox series xs have no 4k issues at all with the same games so it's clearly a playstation 5 issue!! I have five children who all love to game as well as me and their father and my kids traded in their other machines and saved their pocket money to buy the PS5's, now they have lost their machines and will not get full value when I sell them on ebay. So disgusted with how we have been treated. Never will we shop at ebgames again and either will our extended family or friends.

Uses car salesman’s.

Very new to gaming and all that ok. I bought a PS4 pre-owned for my son. Took it home connected it all up and unfortunately it’s the original PS4 not the slim, my mistake.

Called store and asked them can I return as I made mistake in the model.
They said no.
Said I’d be ok exchanging for slim and paying $309.
They said no
Asked them can they buy it back and I’ll buy slim.
They said no, it’s an old model.
BUT THEY ARE SELLING THEM.
Should have gone eBay.

Never again EB GAMES
