I emailed one day in advance to correct a small booking mistake and got no reply. At the counter, staff were rude, kept my down payment, said the car was gone, and tried to sell me another at triple the price. Zero flexibility and no professionalism – absolutely avoid this company.

Ech is an organised scam for customers
All is made to add charges on false scratches
I video all the car, upon arrival at tripani airport the ech rep stayed in the house and then the day after you receive additional damage cost without any prove . This is really bad that police in sicily allows such scams

Terrible experience with ECH Rentals in Sicily.

I was aggressively pressured into buying a second insurance policy even though I had already purchased full coverage online. They told me I wouldn’t get assistance otherwise. The car later broke down and customer service was completely useless — they kept bouncing me between phone numbers with no help at all. To make it worse, they hinted we had caused the damage, which is false and insulting. Avoid this company if you want transparency and professionalism.

I’m currently filing a formal complaint through the European Consumer Centre.
Avoid them at all costs.

They only ripping people off.
The original price what’s €321for 12 days for a VW T-cross.
We had to pay €630 for a Dacia Duster because our plane was late on arrival.
They don’t have a VW in stock even.
They speak very poor English and only looking for the gap to rip you off.

I am a frequent traveller to Italy. Last week went to Sicily and rented a car from SC rental car at Catania airport via the Discovercar platform. The car was in poor condition with many scratches but overall I have decided to take it. The lady at the checkout showed me the car, updated the damage list and that was all. When returned to the car, at the check-in in the man found that the door key could not get fully inside the door lock and said this was new damage. I mentioned to him that I never try to lock the car manually as there is a remote and this damage was already marked on the checkout list, he replied something like "Si" or "Yes" (has poor English anyway) and went back to his office. Then came out and said..Ok, your deposit will be back in 10 days.
Later I had an Email with the damage invoice. And today my credit card is charged a much bigger amount with no paperwork at all. No invoice, no explanation! Total rip-off. At the airport, they shared an office with ECH and Optimo Rent, so presumably, they are one and the same company but using a different brand. Will not use all three brands ever again and strongly recommend to fellow travellers not to do it!
