Seriously consider alternatives

I moved to a new build in September 2020 and moved to eon from British gas as main suppliers in October. Everything went well initially and having been a satisfied customer of eon at a previous house for several years I didn't expect the following :
For the past 6weeks the App appears to have broken, I cannot access my bills.
l am asked to provide meter readings despite the fact my house has smart meters built in which send readings automatically, I was informed of this when l initially signed to them.
My DD was taken on Xmas eve, paid back in 4 days later then taken as per plan on the 1st Jan. Shocking, monies taken from my account and paid back 4 days later with no reason or communication.
The customer service is literally non existent. I am back to hand writing and posting a letter of complaint.
In short eon is a broken system. I signed for a year supply and will 100% be moving to a new supplier this October.

Non Existant Customer Service!

I understand we are in the middle of a pandemic and you expect to be on hold for a while to speak to a customer service advisor, but to not be able to speak to one at all is outrageous. All you get is a recorded message saying they are closed. Managed to speak to someone via the Live Chat (won't even tell you how long that took) only to be given a number to call which had the exact same recorded message. I need to know why they are closing my account due to a switch request that i havent made (by the way they have done this twice since i joined them in Nov 20) if i had known they were this bad i would never had joined them when i moved. It causing me so much stress as i dont know if i'm going to be cut off or not! wont answer the 3 emails i have sent either. Shocking!

shocking customer service …

tried to set up direct debit to pay off old bill as we have changed provider. They got our details wrong so now they cannot get the money. We have tried repeatedly to contact them by phone but cannot get through. We have now been sent another letter threatening possible prosecution if we do not pay by end of January. Every avenue we try to contact them leads us in circles. Our family are extremely vunerable and do not need this hassle. If they spent as much on hiring staff as they do on advertising, this would make things a lot better. Shocking service & incompetent organisational skills.

Believe me! Manager lady is awful and not very nice!! Now I’ve changed to different company and it is a brilliant service and fixed bill (nothing to charge you up and nothing change) they’re best and very helpful people.

Absolutely rubbish company

Absolutely rubbish company. I have a large credit on my account which i am trying to claim back. Was supposed to receive a call last week obviously nothing happened. Then had to wait 20 minutes to speak with someone today, who subsequently took another 30 minutes to enter meter readings!! Had to put the phone down and try again. Have been waiting 15 minutes to get through again. Absolute shambles. Do not touch this shower.

Be aware......Don't go with eon energy

Be aware......Don't go with eon energy, they are changing me for the previous tenant's gas bill saying somebody given them a gas reading which is impossible.
Nearly £250.00 (and rising even though the property is empty) of usage, absolutely ridiculous can't get a straight answer from them, and all I get is late payments charges it's been going on for 11 months...the house has been empty since January 2020..they will not have it..
Acting like bullys on a play ground.
Threatened with court action debt agency collection bill,l don't know where to go next..
They can't be contacted using covid as a excuse,
Absolutely disgrace...

Happy to charge for paper bills but won't provide them

Unable to get my address right - telling me I don't know which county I live in.

Unilateral change to online billing. When I reminded customer services that I pay the highest tariff precisely because I want paper billing and never consented to a change, they claimed I had logged onto an online account and this has triggered the change. I advised this must have been fraudulent as I neither did this, nor would I have set the user ID they said I had.

Today another mass mailing from them, telling me they are moving all their customers to electronic billing.

So Eon never investigated the suspected fraud, or they would have given me this explanation then.

Highly untrustworthy and incompetent. Don't honour contracts. Take money for paper billing and then stop sending the bills customers are paying premium rates for.

After years of trying to correct my address, this was the last straw. Leaving for another supplier and saving quite a bit of money as a result.

This has been the worst experience with…

This has been the worst experience with a utility company ever!!!! I have been trying to close my prepaid/top up account for over 2 weeks already and they have the audacity to want to charge me fees for an account that has a top up meter (will lose power if there is no money is added on the meter). The account was only active for 5 months and I have saved every single receipt of my top ups but E.on says I have charges because I might have need emergency top ups. Seriously? You dont think WFH and during a pandemic I would not top up my meter that runs my home? I have moved home 3 months ago and EON was informed and they even sent a final bill but all of a sudden I have a final bill with new charges? Eon has predatory practices and I highly suggest you avoid this company like COVID or the plague!!!!

EON DREADFUL GIVEN ME AS MUCH MISERY AS COVID

Hi,EON are absolutely dreadful my house was rented out for a year up until March 2020 when the tenants moved out the bill was paid since then no one has lived in the house the house is empty and is now going thro a sale in a weeks time however I ve had a bill for £343.00 for an empty house!! despite being in contact by chat, phone and post they have done nothing I have sent photos of meters but they have taken NO NOTICE!!!! I want to settle the bill before new people move in.What is wrong with them?
Al I want is to pay the bill so I never have to have anything to do with them.Wish I had gone through the Ombudsman straight away.

Shocking.

Shocking.. I left eon and received 70.50 refund, I've been harrased for weeks daily phone calls,, regular emails, messages and letters stating I owe them 70.00.. It transpires they refunded me TWICE.. No one rang me to say sorry, could I possibly pay it back.. nothing.. I found this out because I PHONED THEM because of the harassment .. The customer service advisor would NOT give her name and actually SHOUTED at me for not setting up payment plan to repay... I explained I did not know the paid me twice as I don't have online banking.. I'm shielding so can't get to bank...? taking advice on this harassment now

Absoutle worst customer service on the…

Absoutle worst customer service on the energy market. Me and my girlfriend moved into a flat that was already supplied by these waste of spaces. We get a massive final bill for gas and there isnt even anything supplied with gas in the property. What a joke, so after ringing them and being the phone for 26 mins before speaking to someone they ask us to provide a weekly meter reading, today i rang to give it and the customer service bloke answered after being on hold for 28 mins “ not be long sir “ another 10 mins for the phone to go down!!! Shove your money where it dont shine

Eon are awful!!! Rude staff dont reply to correspondance. I sent a letter of complaint for the awful service we had recieved and they havent responded only sent a letter to say about debt collectors. Havent answered any of the questions we asked. We have been charged £1,600 electric. We are only a family of 4 and we have never been charged this much in our lives!!!. The staff dont want to help at all. Im looking to leave them asap

Don't believe EON if they promise to merge energy accounts

I have an electricity account with EON and wanted to install a gas meter. I was told that in order to do that I needed to open a separate gas account which I could merge after paying the first bill. I paid the first bill and then found myself spending hours on the phone listening to endless lies in my vain efforts to merge the account. I have now received a second "First Gas bill" from EON with a different account number so I now apparently have two gas accounts to go with one supply.
