I inherited Eon with my flat

I inherited Eon with my flat. They are impossible to get through to on the phone. Ive been trying for months. Live chat cuts me off. Email doesn't work. I was overcharged. Threatened with debt collectors, even though the bill had been paid. I'm going to switch to 'Octopus', as they have been uncomplicated and fantastic in the past.
Avoid Eon if you don't want a severe headache and to overpay for electricity that you haven't used!

Don't use this company

Eon will not pass you through to a supervisor even though the local electricity board have said it is their responsibility to remove the mains fuse. They are refusing to resolve the issue and apparently supervisors don't take calls . Dreadful organisation . Don't use this company . They care very little for customer satisfaction and are happy to take your money without providing any service .

Eon never again

My problems started with eon when I had a smart meter fitted a few years ago.
From that date on my bills went up.
My smart meter was running at high energy output usage when nothing was on at certain times of the day very strange?.
I complained many times On the phone no one ever got back to me to solve this mess out.
After several months of total ignorance they offers me a £25 good will payment that had to be excepted straight away as I was still on the phone.
So I back to square one , I was put thou to a higher person who told me it would cost me £75 for some one to test my meter?
I think this cost me £75 in phone bills so far?
I refused to pay this so they said nothing can be done to help you.
?????????? Eon????????????
So I helped my self I moved over to ScottishPower very easy online
another customer Eon has lost haha.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. They do not care that people are dying and people have no jobs or a steady income because of the virus, they just want you to pay up. I had the rudest woman speak to me like dirt (27/5/20) she doesn’t know what is going on in my life, she doesn’t know if a member of my family died from the virus or if I can’t feed my family etc, she just shouted and spoke over me. I payed a bill of £74 and I’m free of them. I’m now with another company that cares. I do not recommend eon at all.

Don't use Eon

I moved into an apartment in Bolton last year.
The landlord informed me that the gas/electricity was supplied by Eon.
In the 6 or 7 weeks that I was there, before I was evicted illegally as the landlord decided that they wanted to sell the property, I used very little gas or electricity.
I don't have a TV, only a dab radio.
I was out at work for 13 hours a day, had a quick shower once a night. I used the cooker about 4 times during my occupancy, the washing machine about 3 times, and was only up for about 2 hours in the evening before I went to bed.
Eon, have sent me a bill for £879.
I contacted them to express my concern about the amount of the bill they had sent me, and told them that I think there has been a mistake, either by them, or the landlord giving a false reading, but they didn't want to listen.
I'm now being taken to court and I have incurred more fees.
Eon should hang their heads in shame.
How can a single man, who uses very little energy, who is out at work for 13 hours a day, use £879 of power in 6 or 7 weeks?
I would Steer well clear of this company.
I have been completely ripped off.

Update on my gas valve .!

Update on my gas valve the engineer wanted to replace, because it wasn't safe.!
It has been now been 6 years since he told me that the gas valve on my 3 year old boiler needed to be replaced.
I didn't have it replaced, and it is still working fine...I have saved £365 pounds.
I will let you draw your own conclusions as to what was really going on...All I can say is that thank god I was not a vunerable person..Shame on them.!

I moved over to them in March'20

I moved over to them in March'20. My electric moved over smoothly but they switch over the wrong gas meter. I am now paying gas for a meter that's not mine and continue to pay my previous provider!! Trying to get hold of someone to resolve the issue has been dreadful. Eventually last week I had a glimmer of hope when a complaint manager called me about the matter, he said he would call back later in the day and now a week later still waiting for the call back!

However I didn't ask for it .now credit has run low I had to put credit back on my meter I put £45 back on it and the entire amount went on paying back the credit I didn't ask for, so I'm going out again hopefully eon wont snatch that. absolute joke

I am sadly one of the very many people who has changed to EON

I am sadly one of the very many people that have been sadly sucked into the switch supplier con joke!!! I was happily with SSE for 10 years or more with no problems, and then after Xmas this year a friend said she thought I was paying too much for my energy and I should consider switching to get a better deal. Well I didnt want to initially and then I thought well perhaps they are right and I should be more open minded to change. After all the Government encourage it, telling us all how it is an easy thing to do, a quick call or press of a button and the energy company does the rest, resulting in a better deal for you.
Well how wrong that information is, I was such a fool and how I wished I'd never ever heard of EON. I started the change in February this year and have never had so much trouble, stress and grief from a company before ever. I hate the very word EON, they are absolutely useless, cannot organise a P Up in a brewery, let alone run an energy company. They are totally unprofessional and I have had an absolute gutful of them. I agree with all the comments below and wish I had been more aware before I decided to switch.
This company should not be allowed to continue to trade and the Government has a lot to answer to for privatising energy in the first place. Bloody ridiculous.
A customer who is at their wits end.

Trying to charge me for energy used…

Trying to charge me for energy used before I moved in. Then when queried sent me a revised bill saying I ower all when I had already paid them about £100 from when I first moved in, didn't deduct the amount I had already paid from my overall bill saying I stll owe full amount which makes absolutely no sense but can't get a sensible reply from them. Got sent another bill without a response to last 2 emails. Matter will be reported to Ombudsman and I will pay what I owe not what they say and switch to another company.

never overpay- you won't get it back

I have stupidly overpaid for electricity, and when i switched supplier eon refused to refund the money back. Independent engineer came to take a meter reading but eon rejected it even though they have requested it.

So basically I've spent 6 years with eon, always kept my account in credit just in case if i find myself out of job and now they refuse to give money back, the money is not theirs... we are looking at around £700.... i'm very upset and I would never ever recommend eon to anyone. disgusting behavior!

With them for a number of years left…

With them for a number of years left than came back
Bombarded me with emails saying I had to have a smart meter then changed tactics and do a safety check agreed to that turned out a scam to try and fit a smart meter I cancelled the woman on the phone said to me they would get a court order and force entry.
Keep well away from this company dishonest and will not answer the phone.

EON ARE CORPORATE THIEVES

Eon are corporate thieves operating a giant Ponzi scheme and it works like this. They spend some money on glossy adds telling people how wonderful they are and entice customers in. Once in they convince you to set up a direct debit to enable you to get their best deal. Once they have your bank account details they set up a direct debit at a pre agreed amount which will tick along fine fore a few months then bang, without warning they will move that pre agreed amount up by a significant margin and will carry on doing this on a regular basis. They do this to hundreds of thousands of their customers as a matter of course and in so doing they literally raise tens of millions of pounds of free interest and fee free money which through a smoke and mirror accounting procedures shows up as operating profit which then gets passed on to shareholders as dividends and because shareholders get a good dividend they agree to pay Eon senior executives large bonuses. Once you as a customer realise your eon account is hundreds of pounds in credit due to this taking place you have to then fight tooth and nail to have that money repaid and that my friends is where you find out that customer service is a complete non starter for eon. It doesn't exist at all. Ofgem dosn't do individual customer complaints against energy companies so they can't help. They will signpost you to an organisation called the energy omnibus man. Their website will say you need to have made a complaint in the 1st instance to your energy company but anyone who has clicked on 'complaints' on eon website knows it just takes you on a round journey to nowhere. On trying to enter the energy company name on the omnibus man's website to initiate the process it doesn't recognise eon so you can't register your complaint there. Eon are more than aware of this so they know no external regulatory body is going to assist their customers when they have any issues so are happy to continue this lucrative Ponzi scheme and also provide zero customer support. You have got to love government deregulation, it enables this sort of thing to happen.

Eon use bully tactics and in this…

Eon use bully tactics and in this competitive market why would you choose them. Appalling company..... My fault been with them for the last three years. Constantly in credit with them and often had to chase them to get my money back which was a task in its self. Finally got round to leaving them. Got my final bill on the Friday and by Monday they are sending threatening bullying email demanding final payment or it will be passed on to a debt agencie. They are happy to make interest out of our money . I called them and asked the question to why I've always been in credit for three years and now I'm leaving them, I owe them money. Customer services is apauling, this company is awful, avoid avoid avoid!
