Equifax's Appalling Customer Service and Refund Failures Since July 2023

I am extremely disappointed with Equifax and the way they have mishandled my situation since July 2023. It has been an utterly frustrating and infuriating experience trying to get them to refund a fee that I never signed up for in the first place. My account with Equifax is supposed to be free, and I should not have had to go through this ordeal.

To make matters worse, instead of promptly addressing the issue and issuing a refund, Equifax has continued to charge my credit card without my consent. I am appalled by their complete disregard for their customers' financial well-being. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it's a blatant violation of trust.

I have made countless calls to Equifax's customer service, but it seems like I'm trapped in an endless loop of incompetence and indifference. No matter how many times I've explained my situation, no one at Equifax has been able to resolve this issue for me. It's beyond frustrating to be met with apathy and ineptitude when I'm dealing with a problem that is entirely their fault.

At this point, I'm at a loss for what to do next. Equifax's inability to address this issue and their unwillingness to refund my money is inexcusable. I expected better from a company that handles sensitive financial information. My trust in Equifax has been completely shattered, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before entrusting their financial data to a company that demonstrates such a blatant lack of integrity and customer service.

Worst experience

Worst experience. I have contacted them multiple time for single error. No action has been taken since 3 months. Their customer service is just pathetic. Zero star for them

Equifax Canada commits financial fraud against Canadians

I started my subscription back in April and quickly noticed that my credit report had incorrect information. I have filed documents with them over 4 times, called several times, and been on hold for 3 hours at one time with absolutely NOTHING done to correct the fraudulent information on my account. At this point, Equifax Canada is committing financial fraud against me.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY PRODUCT!!

I highly recommend not signing up for any kind of subscription, monitoring, etc. If you want to cancel your product, you need to call them and they make it quite a process for you to do so. Many customer service representatives are incompetent, give incorrect information and do not follow through with your request. None of the representatives I've ever dealt with spoke English very well and were rude. Your report and score take a long time to be updated, so when you refresh daily, you are not getting current information. Recently my subscription went from $8.90 per month to $27 per month. Once I received an email informing me of the upcoming increase, I immediately called to cancel. I was asked roughly 8 verification questions before they would help me, which is excessive. I was then told my rate would stay at $8.90. Sure enough, a $27 charge posted to my mastercard and after more phone calls, has yet to be corrected. So I'm paying an excessive $27 per month for a score and report that is not even up to date.

Untrustworthy

Untrustworthy, tons of credit report errors impossible to fix, horrible customer service, useless platform. Unfortunately we're all forced to deal with them. It's tragic they have so much power. A class action suit is in order they are criminal

No Sales Rep?!? Do you not want more business??

I have been trying to get a hold of my Rep for months now so I can increase the number of accounts we have with them. But obviously they are not interested in more business. They refuse to give our Reps contact information (phone, email) and promise that they will send the Rep a message and he will call me. Well, its been well over 2 months now and still waiting for that call. When I asked to escalate the matter they could not to that either. I cannot understand how any revenue generating company would refuse to put you in touch with your Sales Rep when asked. It is insane! And definitely not customer service... they are actually doing us and theirselves a disservice!

Huge Scam, they lie about cancelling your subsciption

I have back and forth for over a year to cancel my subscription and they yet to cancel it. I have called at least 11 times in the last year and i am starting to go crazy, they keep saying they have cancelled my subscription yet do not provide an e-mail or letter to indicate so. They owe me money for cancelling a year ago and yet i continue to get charged and no one is able to help. I am currently on hold for over 50 minutes and waiting to speak to a supervisor. Such as waste of time and a bunch of scam artist. It doesnt sound like any of them even live in Canada, which shouldnt matter other than the fact none of which have been able to do their job properly. What a joke of a company and a HUGE SCAM.

SCAM

scam product that wont let you cancel unless you call within their hours. Will take over a month to get a refund also. Legitimately a scam in my opinion and I would never recommend using this product.

Very disappointed.

Hello there,

Let me tell you the real reason. I recently got a job offer. Now job requires for credit check so they mention me to call an equifax to merge file or change address. I called to equifax and ask the process of changing the address.

In perfect world you pay us then we do the work. That's how the works. So I had to buy product which works with monthly fees. Which has been mentioned by equifax employee. Now after calling and change of address and I waited one and half week. You come to know that you have multiple file now they dont want to let you on first time because you will cancel their membership after you job is done.

Evan after calling every week and talking to different customers representative still nothing. Everytime you ask for manager or supervisor is not there. Manager dont want to take the call or supervisor so I am furious to know worst company to handle my credit score. Funny thing my employer wants to check my score from the company which doesn't care about thier customers.

I have no option but everytime you called and you been mentioned that previous employees didn't done job properly. I am really disappointed with manager and supervisor that this how they train them and worst and worst management. Shame on them. After all this struggle I still had to called every week to look after my file and my address. As customer I had to do spoon feeding to thier employees.

Now I am in that situation where I called everyday 3 times and still every other new representative tell you new story about your files. Specifically I caught one lady laughing on my situation. At the end I lost the job as my employer didn't wanted to wait. As of employer side they gave 1 and half month time but again equifax just wanted thier monthly payments from your pocket.

Online monthly subscription. Phone call cancellation.

Equifax intentionally makes it difficult to cancel their plan by only providing phone call option to do so. Meanwhile, they have no problem starting the subscription online. This should be illegal, but somehow is normal in North America. Plus, they don't offer a one-time credit report anymore. Meaning you have to signup for the subscription, go through the hassle of calling their customer service and answer 100s of questions to cancel it.

I wish I had read the reviews first

I have spent hours trying to set up an account which is free because a company that I was dealing with had been hacked and my information compromised. I thought the initial letter from the original company was a scam and contacted my financial advisor who assured me it was legit. I have been completely unable to get into what is supposedly my new account with Equifax and I am now wondering whether it is all a scam and I am even more compromised

disgusting service

No word of a lie I have just been hung up on 3 calls in a row by 3 different advisors. Absolutely disgusting customer service by a call centre clearly not even based in North America let alone Canada.

Not happy

Not happy. Didn’t take long to reach an agent but honestly took forever to go through verification of identity which is great but man my own bank doesn’t even take that long. Then when I tell them why they go on and on and on. Like come on I have a reason to cancel now cancel. Then of course I get disconnected from them. So as of right now I still have a subscription I don’t want.

Impossible to cancel

Cancellation process is a joke - it took hours to reach them by phone all because they don’t have an online cancellation option. Be ready to stay on hold multiple times for long periods of time (worse than calling your bank or CRA) and once you finally reach them be hung up on (same for their “callback” feature). By the time you are boiling with anger and go through all stages of grief and FINALLY end up talking to an actual person - they waste 20 minutes more of your time by asking you stupid questions and putting you on hold some more. NEVER AGAIN!

Awful experience

Everything went smoothly until I needed to cancel and then I had to waste half an hour of my life waiting on the phone and then answering ridiculous questions. What a way to waste human resources and get clients upset when all you needed to do is to include a "cancel" button.
