I love some of the sellers. They are the only reason I give it 2 stars. I’m sick of doing reverse image searches to find the EXACT same thing at Amazon or Walmart. Etsy should vet their sellers and pr... See more

Etsy is a terrible platform. They allow for the most braindead dropshipped goods and AI art to be sold on their website for "handcrafted" prices and their filtering for products is abysmal. I can'... See more

Terrible experience

What a terrible experience. I bought a men's gold cross. From a third party seller I received a women's gold rose charm. Tried contacting Broadway Jewellers in Vancouver. Phone out of service, no answer to email. Found out today they are out of business. The third party seller was QG from Milton, Ontario. No response to a telephone message. Be very wary of dealing with Etsy.

Items not received & no responses from sellers

I ordered yarns from this website three times. According to etsy, they were all good sellers. Only received one item. Contacted the sellers, no responses. Very disappointing. Thank God, I paid via paypal. Got full refunds from paypal. Not recommend at all!

VERY POOR TREATMENT OF SELLERS. NO RESPECT.

I have been selling on Etsy for over 4 years. We had thousands of orders. The customers were quite happy, the score of our shop was about 4.7 out of 5 !!! All the reviews were very positive, except for a few reviews for which we delivered the wrong items or for which the transporters lost the parcel or have delayed the delivery (nobody is perfect, we as a small workshop and company, do also mistakes and we always pro-actively compensate or refund customers whenever such issue happened). In 4 years, we had 4 disputes with customers (out of thousands of orders). All those disputes were due to the transporter's fault (shipping delays). Of course some customers are not willing to understand that WE ARE NOT working for the transporter, and that this situation annoys us as much as them... Regardless, Etsy BANNED US from selling on their store, despite us having a very good rating with our customers, and always trying to find solutions to please them. Etsy did not allow us to make any appeal or whatsoever. I woke up a morning reading an email saying that our store was banned, that I will never be able to open a store anymore on Etsy, and that they would not reply any of my emails after that. I find this treatment really not fair, respectful nor professional for a company listed on the NYSE ! After discussing with few other Etsy sellers, I realized that I was not the same in this case, and that Etsy's treatment to its sellers was quite unfair as MANY complained about similar issues, and about the fact to not be protected by Etsy. Some of the sellers on Etsy have been scammed by Etsy customers (received the product but also got their money back for invalid reasons), and Etsy did nothing about it. This is a shame for such company, and that clearly show how those big corporation really treat people. Etsy pretend to help small artisans and artists to develop their business, while the only thing they care about is their own profit and stock prices. Shame on Etsy, I will never sell nor buy anything from them again.

I have been both a buyer and seller on…

I have been both a buyer and seller on Etsy off and on since 2009. Etsy takes much bigger cuts via fees then they used to - their fee percentage seems to even come off of shipping (which the seller has to pay for, so you lose money). You pay a fee to list, then a fee off of the final selling price (including shipping apparently). The fee structure also is bad for customers since you basically have to 'mark up' your items just to get a fair value from them (especially if the items have taken time to repair/clean before selling). Their customer service is pretty bad if you have an issue, follow-up is slow, and they don't seem to even directly address or resolve your issue (standard perfunctory responses that just regurgitate their policies are common). I had a couple of listings pulled from my shop, which they claimed was due to the fact that my items were not in fact 'vintage'; I then went about researching (again) the items that they were speaking of and told them that they were in fact vintage - and then they threatened to close my shop ! Very poor seller support. From a customer perspective, the quality of the merchandise has gone down - the handmade, vintage and unique stuff has been replaced by mass-made ticky-tacky crap from China (which is often masqueraded as being 'handmade'), which they seem to have no problem with ! *long as they collect their fees. I will be closing my Etsy shop since I can't really identify with the direction that they are heading (and quite frankly, it's not worth my time).

Currency Exchange Warning

Currency Exchange Warning: Make sure that you manually set your currency to the country that you reside in. I have overpaid for items on Etsy since 2010. Unlike other retailers when Buyers sign up for accounts Etsy does NOT automatically set the currency according to your country's. Instead they keep the default US currency. So, if you are in Canada and have a Canadian account you can still wind up paying in US dollars to purchase from Canadians (and accrue unnecessary transactions fees in the process). When I brought this to their attention they did not refund my money for a recent transaction and told me to change my settings.
