We did the 4-day Lost City trek with Expotur and were very satisfied with this organization. Communication by email beforehand was easy and fast. On the day of the tour, we were picked up from our hostel right on time.
Our tour guide (Sixto) was always cheerful and ready to help. When one of our group members got sick, Sixto even carried his backpack. Our translator (Isidroo) spoke excellent English. He also acted almost like a second tour guide and really supported us in the camps along the way.
The camps were better than we expected: decent bunk beds with mosquito nets, toilets, and showers. Each camp also had a small shop for essentials (and even beer!) and sometimes internet. Our own cook (Luz) traveled ahead of us and prepared delicious meals three times a day. There were always plenty of snacks available along the trek as well.
After the hike, we were conveniently dropped off with our big backpacks on the route to our next destination, so we didn’t have to return all the way to Santa Marta.

It was an amazing experience. Luz made amazing food, way better than I expected. The camps were also nice and comfortable. Isdo was a great translator and Sixto the best guide. I got very ill on the second day, and Sixto carried my backpack during this. What a warrior! Very thankful for everything!

Our four-day tour to the Lost City was a unique and wonderful experience thanks to our wonderful guide Jose, our translator Isidor, and the fantastic cook Camila! We felt well looked after at all times and we didn't lack for anything! The guides told us a lot about the area and the people there, which was very interesting! They were very considerate of the group and made every effort to make everyone's experience enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour!

We recently completed the Lost City Trek with Expotur, and we had an absolutely unforgettable experience. Our guide Antonio was incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and kind. He made us feel safe and supported throughout the journey, and shared his deep connection with the land and the local cultures in a truly respectful way.
Justin, our translator, was equally fantastic – always helpful, clear, and with a great sense of humor. He made sure nothing was lost in translation and added great energy to the group.
The organization of the trip, the food, and the logistics were also excellent. We felt well taken care of the whole way.
Thank you for such a meaningful experience – we will remember this trek forever!
Love from Denmark, we had a tour only us 3 girls, and we will never forget this experience. Thank you!

The lost city trek was a great experience! Our guide Jorge made us feel safe and taken care of, our interpreter Sofia was an amazing translator, very helpful and nice. The chef Jesus kept us full with amazing food. Had a lovely time with the group jaguares, and the amazing staff. Would definitely recommended this trip to others!

Such a great experience! Our group — the Jaguares — was so much fun, and we had a wonderful time with Jorge, Sophia, and Jesus. Definitely recommended for the Ciudad Perdida hike!

Expotur did a great job ensuring all our needs were met during this gorgeous hiking experience. Jorge, Sofia, and Jesus took amazing care of us throughout the tour - I could not have asked for a better team!! The trek itself is so beautiful, a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The trip was very well organized.
The food was delicious and nutritious. Lots of protein and carbs to provide us with energy. Snacks were refreshing and providing energy along the way. We were offered coco and tea to relax in the evening.
Jhoan told us a lot about a history of the Lost City and indigenous people. The evening before ascending to the Lost City he told us how the city was discovered and preserved so people can now visit it and learn about it. The story was supported by visual aids - pictures, copies of artifacts and additional presentation of special speaker. Joan and John (the translator) very patiently answered a lot of questions.
The trek is hard and I stayed behind along with my friend but there was always a guide with us. I felt taken care of safe and supported.
When you are tired sometimes a small gesture means a lot… Jhoan gave me sturdy bamboo walking stick, Lorena made a plant tattoo on my arm, John brought me a cup of tea…..
The trek was our 30 year wedding anniversary gift to ourselves and I can’t think about celebrating it differently. It was one in a lifetime experience!
Tips: have a walking stick- it helps you to keep the balance and supports going down a hill and only pack essentials.

We really enjoyed Lost City expedition.
Our guides Lorena Nelson and Jhoan took very good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. We learned a lot of history from Jhoan , he had a lot knowledge about local people and culture. John and Carlos made great job of translating everything to English. We enjoyed meeting native people and sharing candies with children . We were nicely surprised with amount of food cooks prepared for us and sleeping conditions! Over all we had a lot of fun with the whole group even tho the hike was much harder then we expected. I would say this hike is for pretty fit people. I would also recommend to bring hiking poles, good hiking shoes and lighter backpack. Good bag spray and a lot of sunscreen.
Very rewording experience!

The 4 day trek to Ciudad Perdida with expotur and our group los flamingos was an amazing experience. Our guides José n, translator Aldair, José (2) and our cook Joel made it an unforgettable adventure. The jokes, interesting stories and facts, swimming in hidden waterfalls, sometimes difficult climbs and amazing views will be a memory by heart! Thanks a lot!

The trek was REALLY hard. I'm 64 and I thought in fairly good shape. It is a LOT of uphill and downhill climbing. The most physically challenging I have done in my life. We did the 5 day which was still hard, but the return was a different route. It was beautiful. Our guides and the food were great. Without our guide Ariel helping I would not have been able to make it. Just know that in Colombia 10 minutes or 30 could mean an hour or more.....

Carlos our translator went above and beyond for us. The best service ever. Jhoan knew alot of history about the indeginous people and jesus made very good food. But Christian was a star and was very good at talking and being nice

Just come back from an 4 days trek to the ciudad perdida : Incredible experience. Definitely highlight of my month in Colombia.
Very well organised tour, amazing views, delicious food and a very dedicated team.
Nelson, Carlos and Pique thank you so much for your efforts and energy you put in your work. You have made this experience unforgettable. A special thanks to Heider for his patience in responding to the thousands questions I had about Sierra Nevada :)
Highly recommended to everyone looking for a challenging but beautiful 4 day experience surrounded by nature !

Ciudad Perdida trek with Expotur’s Nelson and translator Carlos was a fun way to do this tough trek. At times it was very hot, hard and wet. Evenso, it was an excellent trip and enjoyable way to see beautiful Colombian Sierra Nevada. Every experience along the way, before and after the city, made the effort worth while. Another thing, with limited numbers allowed entrance to the national park, no bus, no train, no road for many many miles, we were among a handful of people in the city itself. It is a uniquely peaceful experience Do it!

We did the 4 day tour with 12 people and 4 crew (Nelson, Carlos, Pique and Heider). We had an amazing time. The hike was hard but doable, and we took lots of breaks and had fruit and snacks all the time. The camps were also nice and there are showers and good food from our cook (vegetarian was also good and had proteins!). The only thing missing at the camps is soap to wash your hands. Our guide did an excellent job explaining the culture and history of the place and the translator was super fluent in english. The lost city feels like a place you need to visit as soon as possible, before more people discover its beauty! 😉

Great experience. The hike and the team (Salseros!!! - Nelson, Carlos, Heider and PK) were very well organised. Broke the hike down into manageable sections. Fantastic food especially the consideration for vegetarians! Accomodation was very good too.
