First 4 Lettings Reviews 

After renting from First4Lettings this past year, I can conclude it has been one of the worst experiences I will probably ever have with a landlord! Considering First4Lettings like to advertise themselves as a Student letting service, they seem to believe Students are lazy and unobservant, and unable to fight our corner meaning we can just be walked all over, which in our case wasn’t going to happen. Upon first gaining tenancy over the house we were very confused about whom to contact; First4Lettings told us we were no longer to go through them and contact the landlord directly, whilst this seemed fair at first, one of my fellow tenants tried to ring the number First4Lettings had given to us via email and the reception he received was terrible. He was shouted at and told not to contact this number again and that he did not oversee anything with the house and we should go through the other agent. When telling the agency this they gave us a corrected number who was supposedly the landlords son, however he had shown us round the houses as an agent last year, so we were very confused as to who we were dealing with. We carried on despite this as we were just glad to have someone to contact. Upon moving into the house it was not to a great standard, wasn’t very clean and the dishwasher was absolutely appalling. I will not go into detail but we had numerous problems with the landlord over the year where he was hard to get hold of, promised to turn up to the house to sort a problem and then never showed, and when we contacted First4Lettings they just told us to try again and that they couldn’t do anything. The deposit situation at the end of the tenancy was handled terribly with me having to request our deposit several times to no avail, promised time slots where the deposit would be returned and then it never showed. Eventually we got our money back but with ridiculous cuts over cleaning and marks on the walls, including things which were already damaged upon arrival. I would have disputed these as I took pictures however my MacBook unfortunately broke around this time and in all honesty I was sick of chasing the Landlord around when he seemed to have an answer for everything. If you want a stress free second year in a nice house I’d avoid these letting agents at all costs, I can’t really speak much for the company themselves as they never really had a bar of us however if they let Landlords and whoever else they were treat their customers like this they should still be very ashamed. Just glad to be leaving and going to a letting agent who treats us more like adults in a much nicer environment!

Rented through First 4 Lettings for almost 2 years now and have just renewed for another year. Not had any issues and always arrange any maintenance in reasonable time.

Would recommend to any prospective tenants.

Severe lack of integrity. They charge renewal fees every 6 or 12 months of £50 (update: this is now £100) instead of having rolling contracts. There's also extra "admin" fees for just emailing over a document and £50 admin fees on top of whatever they take from your deposit. Never heard of anything like it with other agencies. Notice how all good reviews on Google are from landlords, not tenants.

Tenants, do yourself a favour and avoid this company.

Avoid at all costs! No professionalism, complaint process, ability to communicate...and that's just for viewings!

An excellent letting company in Knighton area. The staff is brilliant, supportive and helpfuf. I will certainly recommend this company to my friends and relatives. Thanks again everyone.

Hi. I am currently a student at the University of Leicester. I have been renting a house with First4Lettings. The agents there are very professional and friendly. In general I am happy with the services First4Lettings provide, eventhough I had to call them a few times to get things fixed.
