33 flatmates & counting!

Love flatmates.com.au...33 flatmates so far & counting!!

Just wanted to give some feedback - would love to see an option of ticking “pet-free” for those of us who prefer not to co-habitate with a 4-legged flatmate.

Also, I’d love the option of a 3rd way of tagging properties (currently only 2 - starred or unstarred). It’d be helpful to have a “stop lights” system, where you could tag properties you love green (& they’d go in your shortlist), properties you’re definitely not interested in as red & other possibilities as yellow. Then you wouldn’t have to re-read profiles that you didn’t star to find out why you didn’t star them.

Thanks for your great service & all the fab housemates you’ve helped me find over the years!

Regarding pets, you do have the option when creating your property listing to select features that the property is "accepting of" including retirees, students, backpackers and pets. By not selecting this feature, you are showing that your property is not accepting of pets.
You also have this same option when creating a person listing.

This website is very user unfriendly

This website is very user unfriendly to first timers like myself.
The fact you can't message a person unless you upgrade is pathetic and not necessary and nowhere on the site does it give you a intro on how the website works

This is why we have a "response rate" feature on our platform which will mark members out of 100%. The closer a member's response rate to 100%, the more likely they are to reply. This should help you in your future share house searches.

Give it a big miss!

I can't understand the positive reviews here concerning Flatmates.com.
I advertised my spare room for rent through them, which is in a modern fully furnished home, and had nothing but bad experiences I would rather forget. People constantly rang up asking to view the room and didn't turn up, without so much as a phone call. People hung up on me when I asked for references, and the one's who did turn up were disheveled and dirty looking, which you wouldn't trust with your dog.
I ended up only advertising for students and people with professional background - which were almost impossible to find.
I was lucky that an old friend came into town, and I ended up renting it out to him. I then gave up the idea altogether after he left.
Give Flatmates.com a big miss - they're not worth the trouble!

I don't like the new changes where my…

I don't like the new changes where my monitor is over 20 years old and when you do a search, the photos are way too big. I think I'll stick with Gumtree so I can see the search listing easily.

No reply seems the normal response

Messaged numerous people about their rooms to rent and very few had the decency to reply. Trying for 2 months and the few that do offer you an inspection or meet up never get back to you after the inspection. They all have too much choice with so many people looking for a room and hardly any rooms available. just basic good manners as to a yes or no would be good.

I hate the new search result page

I hate the new search results page where you can only see 1 at a time now. Each picture is huge on my screen. I'm not going to spend hours looking at each listing where before I could see many on my screen at a time.

We’re sorry to hear you don’t like the recent change. The change moved from showing three results on screen in a grid view to a list view. We still show the same number of results per page, which is 12.

You can search and filter your results to ensure you’re seeing what you want immediately, rather than browsing through all the results.

This most recent change enabled us to release a whole bunch of features which will help listers such as yourself stand out and get enquiries. This includes bigger and differentiated search result tiles to ensure potential flatmates don’t miss your listing, automatic rotation of listing tiles to the top of search results to ensure your listing continues to get exposure and image carousels in search results so seekers can get a feel for your listing.

We don’t make these changes lightly and ensure changes we make improve the performance of the site. While rolling out the new experience our data showed it performed better for enquiries, which we’re sure you can appreciate is a great result.

New search result page is a nightmare!

They just change the new search result page where only 1 is displayed at a time thus the picture takes up 1/2 of my screen. The old system is 1000x better where you could see a list of 3 at a time. It has made my searching a total nightmare and I can't use this site anymore. The person that made this insane change at FM, should be fired!

Flatmates.com.au has introduced a new default search result called ‘Featured” which allows upgraded listings to be displayed first and will differentiate them from free members on our platform. We wanted to give upgraded members more value for their plan and to help them stand out on Flatmates.com.au.
Your screen may look different, as now upgraded members will appear as “premier listings” with enlarged listing tiles in search results on the first couple of pages, while free members will have their listings displayed slightly smaller and on later pages.

Users may filter or re-sort search results in which case listings that match that search query will rank first. Flatmates.com.au is always striving to improve and to ensure our marketplace remains the best place for share accommodation in Australia. We’re constantly listening to our members and asking for their input in such improvements. For a long time, our paid users have been asking for better value for their plans and we believe this strikes a balance between paid listings and free listings.

Great customer service and always…

Great customer service and always responding to all my questions promptly.
Understanding clients enquiries and needs. I will Highly Recommend Flatemates.com.au and also the services you provide to property owners like myself. Keeping our information private , so we can find the suitable candidate to lease the room which gives us a piece of mind. I travel frequently due to work commitments away alot and my property is left alone so this is a great site to find a person to lease the room but realistically they have the entire home to themselves just my master bedroom is not available.
I have had such beautyful people so respectful , polite and looked after my house as if it was their own and I thank Flatmates Au for that!!!
Will be using your service again !!!

Flatemets.com.au Need take more control for SOMETHING YOU PAY FOR

Flatemets.com.au Need to make people more punctual on this dam website. 2nd time around its absolutely ridiculous and just like last time. No one responds OR they're away but their flatemates find someone. People need to have more responsibility on this site and Flatemates need to enforce it. Its common bloody courtesy. I hope there is not a 3rd time anytime soon.

Highly Recommended

Claudia and all the staff in the Customer Service Team have always been super friendly and supportive. Great in depth advise that makes an overall easy to use experience both in finding a room as a Tenant and advertising as a Landlord. Highly recommended and a large pool of ads to work with to find the best match.

This platform is a joke

This platform is a joke. All the 4-5 star reviews are from Bob, Jane or someone%20 very interesting. Charge you to message people with no guarantee of a reply. When you message someone with a 100% response rate and they don’t reply their response rate stays at 100%. Filled with 3rd party ads. Hive property is a real estate renting to students they don’t own or live at the property. Female only option but no male only? Sexist? Compete scam

Flatmates.com.au is a free platform but we do have a number of paid upgrades members can choose from to help quicken up their search. On a free account you can contact any listing on the site that is Free to Message, you can also reply to all messages received. The majority of listings on our site are Free to Message, but there will be some Early Bird listings (free) that will require an upgrade to contact for the first 14 days.

The response rate is the percentage of conversations you have responded to over the past 30 days and new messages are given a grace period of 24hours before they are counted in your response rate. You can read more about that here https://flatmates.com.au/info/message-response-rate

We are a platform that caters to all so this means you will find some professional users on our site who run multiple share houses and use our platform to advertise their properties.

We have multiple filters on the site you can choose from regarding flatmate preferences. Properties can put filters on to only have "male" or "female" flatmates, "couples" or they can use the filter "anyone welcome."
