Product details
For more than half a century readers have journeyed alongside Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, and his nephew Frodo inThe Lord of the Rings.
Bilbo Baggins is a reasonably typical hobbit: fond of sleeping, eating, drinking, parties and presents. However, it is his destiny to travel to the dwarflands in the east, to help slay the dragon Smaug. His quest takes him through enchanted forests, spiders’ lairs, and under the Misty Mountains, where he comes across the vile Gollum, and tricks him out of his ’Precious’ - a ring that makes its bearer invisible, and wields a terrible power of its own.
This edition is bound in parchment cloth blocked in gold, with an inset label showing Smaug the dragon. It contains 19 black-and-white illustrations by the great Eric Fraser, and endpapers printed in red and black ink, showing Thrór’s Map and Wilderland.
‘One of the best children’s stories of the century’

Beautiful edition as expected from the Folio Society
Poor quality. Warped front board and spine separated from rear board during reading. I am 60 years old and great care of my books.
My husband loves this book and it makes a brilliant companion to his Folio Society Lord of the Rings books, which he received as a gift a while ago from my parents.
A must have for every Tolkien/fantasy book fan.
They were exactly what my son wanted
Beautiful!
This book is a quality product. The cover is lovely and I can wait to buy The Silmarillion and the Lord of the Rings to complete my collection.
Beautiful
so far I am very satisfied about your books because I have been placing orders for nearly three years now
This is a wonderful binding which feels more costly than it was
Excellent book
Incredible
Very nice, heirloom quality edition which is still approachably priced. Illustrations are additive without being distracted. I really enjoy Folio Society's Dust Jacket, which does what it says on the tin, not just a glossy magazine cover over the exact same paperboard cover as a mass market hardback!
The book is beautifully crafted with a wonderful high end sleeve. Very classy.
Absolutely lovely gifts.
Looks cheap AF in person, and comes packed in a ratty, threadbare cardboard slipcase. Same goes for the LotR set, and The Silmarillion.
Perfection just like all of Folio books!
Nice book!
Well printed. A great copy of a classic
