This was bought as a gift so I cannot give a full review but from the point of view of the giver I was very satisfied when I saw the way the item itself was so very carefully packed. Though I could only see the book within its plastic shrink wrap it was evident from the covers that this was a product of excellent quality.

Just a beautiful novel. Far superior to the Cemetery Dance edition. Just beautiful. Wish you sold more King titles. If you sold a copy of The Stand, It, or Salem's Lot, they would be must have editions for me!

Gorgeous! A must have for any Stephen King collector
Perfect gift for my brother whose own copy of Stephen King's seminal work is in tatters due to him reading it over and over for the last several years. Very pleased with the design and craftsmanship that went into this beautiful edition of a horror classic.
I really liked this book when I initially read it and I'm glad I purchased this hardcover edition. The fonts they chose was really nice and added to the feel of the story. I'm actually surprised by how much character they add to the presentation. I like the front cover image alright, though I visited the artist's webpage and the alternate version he had of this that was rejected was the better image, I think. The illustrations inside are really incredible and they capture the feel of the scenes they represent extremely well. There is one image in particular that stuck out to me and that's of Dan Torrance and Mr. Hallorhan sitting in the car, talking about the shining. There is a dark void of silhouetted trees above the car in the image. At first I turned the page but something made me flip back to the illustration. There was something very ominous about that dark void looming above them in the image. In that illustration and all the rest, there are physical textures used by the artist in construction of the images that add something more to them. I think the overall construction of the book, the design and the creativity in the illustrations made this worth the money and I am glad to own it.

I've been a Stephen King fan since the '80's. I hope The Shining is just the start of a Folio King Set. Truly a beautiful, quality book.
