Most difficult Kitchen company to deal with
Like other reviews the initial contact and design was great but as soon as you pay your deposit and then the second deposit it all goes of track. We had gained quotes from local suppliers but thought to try Freedom due to the affiliation between guy Sebastian and the good work freedom had been involved in.
They designer made several good suggestions and we agreed upon a design which in the most part had been suggested by the online designer. This put us into their "top end" kitchen design range which we accepted as we wanted the design.
However as soon as it went to the production designers then all of the design add ins started being removed. The reasoning apparently is to reduce potential warranty claims in the future. within the space of a few days we had 4 changes and the kitchen did not resemble what we had finally agreed on at the beginning. In Fact it resembled more a flat pack Ikea kitchen style where you receive set sized cupboards and attachment and make your space suit the kitchen.
Of course there was the usual excuses and attempts to justify their position but at the end of the day they had signed off with the client for a kitchen they had designed.
We also noted that there was a distinct reluctance to put you though to anyone who could help once you had paid your deposit.
After a bit of back and forth with numerous messages left we got the regional manager who was short and just said the original designer will contact us that night. And of course this did not happen. When he did contact us the next day he was upset because he believed the kitchen was within the specifications.
How can a company who is actually "The Kitchen Group" allow their front line designers to be able to design their top end kitchens outside their own specifications ?
We finally received our deposit back after sending a detailed email both giving a time line and our expectations of a refund under the ACCC regulations.
I would not recommend them to anyone and in fact will go out of my way warn people off.
If you want to save your sanity and money go somewhere else for your kitchen .
Please don’t use this company. They have no soul.
I wish I’d never put my trust and money into this company as a year and a half later I am still facing problems and it’s mentally draining and time stealing.
After waiting a year with one debacle after another .
Wrong parts , incorrect installation , design faults and living in total ness and disruption for 10 months. I’ve ended up with a kitchen not per design . I asked designer to double check issues of concern pre install and he didn’t cone back .
I was pressured to taking a limited offer deal and went I went into the store in Loganholme they had that ‘deal’ still going . In fact a pad of coupons and this was months after. I went to actually talk to a person about the nightmare and no finished kitchen 9 months after signing contract .
The bench tops are now failed and two sinks will need to be removed and my glass tiling splash back at the mercy of contractor .
Other parts are dropping off. The quality is not as promised. They don’t care that it will cause disruption to my life once again and heaven knows when it will end ?? Another Christmas without my kitchen finished ?
I said I didn’t want the poor quality laminate replaced with the same . I want quality once and for all and do stone . They said that’s not going to happen and sent me a crappy photo of swatches that are discontinued.
I don’t know what to do anymore . They are just another company doing the hard sell with no regard to peoples hard earned money and shatter dreams of having a beautiful kitchen.
I’m tired and disappointed and still in a battle which I’m afraid I will now have to take to QBCC and fair trading .
What they have done is utter cruelty and are totally lacking in any integrity.
Unfortunately this is becoming common with lots of trades, service and products these days . The customer seems to be always wrong and the failures abd bad treatment are so blatant .
I was promised so much and I have been lied to and robbed. Money , time and trauma.
Please get your own kitchen from Mitre 10 , Bunnings IKEA….. anywhere but Freedom and find a trusted carpenter to save yourself an expensive heartbreak. Please . I don’t want anyone to go through what I am still going through .

My advice is never to use this company…
My advice is never to use this company to build your kitchen,
They are without a doubt, the most incompetent company I’ve ever dealt with in the building industry.

Ridiculously over priced!!!
Met with the employee in store. Went through the whole process of looking at there cabinetry, which looked to be of decent quality. Organised a design consult. The lady was lovely, helped with the design of a kitchen and laundry. The consult/design process took around 4 hours and at the end of that 4 hours it was time to talk pricing, and oh my god we did not expect what we were about to hear!! There is a complete disconnect between what they tell you in store as to what they actually tell you the price is. We mentioned in store that we wanted to spend around $20k total for supply only. The lady in store said this was very achievable. So we went ahead with the consult. Which was a complete waste of time inevitably. The price was for supply only and we would do the install. No appliances, we are purchasing our own. A small amount of caeserstone bench top (3.8sqm worth). The grand total came in at around $51,000.00 for the cabinets and $7,200.00 for the caesarstone. She then applied a discount which is being promoted currently. That took the cabinets down to around $42,000.00. We were blown away and literally lost for words when we heard these numbers!! Keep in mind this is a Vinyl wrap kitchen and not two pack. Two pack being a superior product. If you take a minute to break down these numbers as to what they are providing its like the title states, "Ridiculously over priced!!". Take the caesarstone as an example, divide $7,200.00 by 3.8sqm, that comes in at $1,894.00 a square metre!!! Caesarstone remember, not marble. Then if you break down what material is in the kitchen, majority being melamine (which is very cheap per sheet). We worked it out to be approximately $2000.00 worth of melamine in the job. So if you take that away from the original price, pre discount, we are paying $49,000.00 for a few doors, panels, hinges, drawers etc. Remembering that this is supply only and we would install. We have since got a couple quotes from cabinetry companies, supply and install of a two pack kitchen and laundry for just over half the price Freedom wanted for supply only of a Vinyl wrap kitchen/laundry. We also got a marble benchtop, supply and install for $1,200.00 a square metre.
Use this information as you please but if you aren't in the business of burning money, avoid this company!!

DO NOT USE. SHOCKING EXPERIENCE
What was what we thought going to be a great experience quickly went downhill after the money was paid. Parts missing to the kitchen. Wrong components. Measurements missing on plans then the say you’ve signed off so it my fault. Designer didn’t listen and didn’t mark up plans correctly. Tried several times to sort it out with customer service only to cop a barrage of abuse from them where in the end I had to hang up. Finally got onto upper management and even they were not willing to help with all issues and wiping their hands of their mistakes.
It’s been over a month now since the part kitchen went in and still bits missing and Freedom Kitchens still have done nothing
Warning to all. Buy your kitchen elsewhere.
With regards to your reply asking the job number. How about you do your own research and look up my name. Freedom Kitchens probably can’t even do that based on previous experience trying to sort things out. Oh and by the way. Here it is September and yep you guessed it. Still not sorted out and still blaming the client for Freedom Kitchens mistakes.

Would NOT recommend AVOID
Overall disappointed and would never use Freedom Kitchens again. They subcontract out, the subbie then subcontracted out again. The left hand didn't talk to the right hand. The worst tradespeople attended on-site and overall the end product had design flaws. We had to get it fixed and it is not what was designed or in the CAD drawings that we signed off on. I feel completely let down. And at the end of the day, it wasn't a cheap kitchen. I should have gone with a local cabinet maker and managed the trades myself. A tradie scratched our new floors on demolition, he was trying to demo on his own and dragged cabinetry across our lounge and living. A tap was installed to the side of the sink, not behind it. It took 7 months to get the final installation completed. The overall customer service was poor, with little care for the consumer who was paying.

Poor communication but good product
Initial consult was great, consultant was knowledgeable and helpful with the design and telling us what was a waste (apparently the slide out pantries cost nearly 4 times the amounts of those sold at Howards, and they're exactly the same). Be aware that they will pressure you into signing the contracts on this initial consult to get a 25% discount.
Communication from this point was pretty poor. We had the initial consult in October and the kitchen didn't deliver until late the following March. There was a delay as I didn't include the range hood model number, even though the range hood had no cabinets around it and wasn't required. After too-ing and fro-ing about this, I gave a generic range hood model just to get the process moving. There was always a few days delay for them to respond to messages which blows out the delivery time frame.
We installed the cabinets ourselves, which voids the 7 year warranty. They harp on about how hard it is to install but we are not builders and it was as easy as an Ikea wardrobe if you are good at reading plans. They give no installation instructions so you need to base installation on the CAD drawings. These are pretty easy to read if you're logical minded. The kitchen is now in and we are pretty happy with it. These cabinets are heavier than the Ikea/Kaboodle ones so should hopefully stand up to a bit more wear and tear. One thing they do not include is facing plates for the gaps if the cabinets don't join completely. We had a 50mm gap that we had to cut out and install with silicone. This was on the plan, so we knew it was coming.
So, kitchen seems good quality, was easy to install and the design consultant was great. Communication from the company leaves a lot to be desired, and because of this our initial 3 month delivery window pushed out until 5 months.

I worked for them in 17 as a kitchen…
I worked for them in 17 as a kitchen designer, the person they sent to your appointment. Although I was an experienced designer I went through their training program with a dozen other new recruits, which was pretty professional. NSW mid coast based cabinetry business (cant recall company name), expanding. We all signed up as commission agents (half on sign up and check measure and last half on completion) and began getting appointment's on a more or less daily basis, usually 1 daytime 1 evening. Well aware these were not custom, but pre made cabinetry and china doors in std sizes. They were also Good Guys kitchens, same product different product names. It was all about special deal to sin up on the night, its called "first call closing". Went OK for a while, product seamed OK, nothing special, lots of promos happening, etc. But when I parted company with them, all of a sudden all my contracts were apparently under cost or incorrect, even the ones already check measured and never got a cent out of them on the 20 or so outstanding jobs. Got the impression this was standard procedure for them. What to do sue them, go VCAT? Walk away. Reckon they still owe me $18k. Nearly everybody was a contractor and commission agent with fairly high staff turnover. Not unusual with commanies that advertise/promote heavily, that's the way it is.
Seriously don’t bother
Seriously don’t bother. Ridiculous system. Go to Bunnings or ikea. The designers are boring. The wait is extensive and they don’t supply everything and when you complain they pass the buck
Shocking miscommunication and extremely poor service!!
Like many other reviews the initial design consult was very positive. Laurie was very knowledgeable & efficient. She came back with designs & pricing within 24-48hrs incl a weekend however the poor or lack of comms thereafter was SHOCKING!!
I feel so gullible for not reading these reviews prior! Adding insult to injury I meet someone who used to work for this co. who said they left because the complaints became extremely overwhelming.
If you think your getting a deal because of a sale, think again, they raise the pricing then reduce with the discount to pre sales pricing.
What a shocking set of values and the reviews seem to capture the contempt with which the Kitchen Group handles customers. Freedom will do their reputation a world of hurt if they continue with this mob.
Also they ran a competition offering 1 million Velocity frequent flyer points which never existed because everyone at the company runs the other way when I ask for results?!?!?!
Finally if they delivered all might be forgotten but they delayed the production due to internal miscommunication, told me they didn’t cover themselves in glory & still delivered 4 weeks late.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Or do so at your own PERIL
BEWARE! We have never signed off on our…
We have never signed off on our kitchen. It is a huge disappointment. As a replacement for our old Custom kitchen, this is an inferior kitchen. Boxed units with drawers that have struts for sides and items fall out. Add the hidden pantry that is almost useless as we can't reach items or see them in the dark. Absolutely useless. The design had the fridge right next to the pantry so the installer put in a wine rack to allow space to open the door. The whole oven/microwave side has an awful profile that looks very amateurish. Should have put our own Bunnings one in.
The design consultant, 25 year old (if that) with the CAD system told us we didn't want a custom kitchen, so we thought we'd try to go modern. Big mistake.
Poor experience, would not recommend
The initial consult and design were an absolute pleasure and I was really pleased with my designer and the plans they came up with. Unfortunately after this it all went down hill and I have been incredibly disappointed at the service that was provided. On the whole, I do not recommend using Freedom Kitchens.
A few lowlights of the process included the sign off for the final plan where Freedom kept making changes after I had signed off on the initial design. It took 7 or 8 attempts to get it back to the original cupboard design and had I not been diligent on the details I would have ended up with cabinets that did not fit and were not what I wanted. There were a number of errors / shortcuts made through the install that impacted the final quality of the product and that I ultimately arranged for a separate builder to rectify. Freedom refused to arrange a quality inspection and once I'd paid my final invoice, their service was basically non-existent and they were hands off.
Shocking
Shocking, freedom should not use the Kitchen Group.
6 years ago, I had a Kitchen build through freedom, and they were great, hence me going back to them for my next home. The experience could not be more different this time.
Worst experience ever. Ordered in August, still not compete. Basically, your better of coordinating your own build. Some lowlights below...
Promised it would be in before Christmas, then no communication until its right before Xmas to be then told it would be Feb.
Dishwasher missed from order, and still lost.
Recommended Sink too heavy for stone tops.
Sink & taps not delivered.
Sink delivered with our all components.
They did not share file with the stone company.
They did not communicate that I had to organize the stone tops or give me details as to who the stone people were.
Incorrectly quoited on the stone tops.
Managers always in meetings.
Very DISAPPOINTED in freedom kitchens
Very DISAPPOINTED in freedom kitchens! We have used them before 10 years ago in another house and they were fantastic but this time horrible! All the cabinets weren’t straight we have asked them to fix them but they just said you can’t see that they are not straight, we have had trades man, family and friends come in and ask who did the kitchen because nothing was lining up! Our kitchen sink hole was cut to big which then we had to wait 4 weeks for a new one! Nothing was offered to us for having to wait! And then once the new bench top had come in the trades man noticed that it had been dropped on the corner and we couldn’t use it so we had another bench top made again! Nothing offer to us for waiting it had been 7 weeks after our kitchen should have been finish! And the worst of it all was it was one week till Christmas and we had NO kitchen! We are still waiting for some of the cabinet doors to be changed over because they had marks all over them and wasn’t able to remove them! And we still haven’t heard from them and it’s now February! Will never get a kitchen done with freedom kitchens again and I will not recommend them!
Poor quality cabinets with only short…
Poor quality cabinets with only short warranty.. our cabinets doors peeled after 6 years.. they were replaced and we were assured won’t happen again as they have changed the manufacturing process- so no need to select a different door.. but 6.5 yrs later again -same problem- the cheap quality doors are peeling.. Freedom not interested in replacing them this time. Stay away - cheap quality kitchens- I wish I had seen this many terrible reviews before we paid paid $17k for cabinetry in 2010. Stuck with it until they totally fall apart
Interest free promo, but getting charged interest!
Freedom blaming me for their salesperson error and now IM BEING CHARGED INTEREST on an interest free promo!!! They want me to pay again before stopping the interest payments.
12 months on and still waiting on completion!
We ordered our kitchen 12 months ago and it’s still incomplete!
We have had multiple issues with our Freedom Kitchens, ranging from an oven being broken on installation, skewed cabinets, leaking kitchen drains (causing flooding!), and unfinished plastering. For months we’ve been waiting and playing phone ping pong between Freedom and the installer (who has no care or responsibility!). Freedom provides you with a ‘recommended’ installer but is all care and no responsibility when it comes to poor performance. I am at my wits end and have an ugly kitchen that I now hate and wish I’d never started the renovation. The cabinets are OK, but definitely not the high end they report to be!
Will never recommend a freedom kitchen to anyone!
Extremely disappointed
Extremely disappointed. Overpriced cabinetry and appliances that have a poor finishing - these literally look cheap. Bunnings have better stuff, so you can have an idea.
Designer cannot even design a cabinet that fits wine and champagne glasses. Most of the measurements are incorrect, including cabinetry and benchtop - this was even pointed out by the installer.
They lied about delivery and installation times just to win the contract (we were quoting with other companies).
There was a massive delay in completing my project, no communication whatsoever. They didn't even apologised nor tried to rectify any issues.
I strongly do NOT recommend Freedom Kitchens.
Beware! Poor quality, lack of proper consulting & design
I’ve just had my kitchen installed & wish I had seen these reviews as it’s the same as my experience. Designer put loads of pressure on us to sign ‘that night’ or we’d lose the discounts. He never came to our house to measure properly despite numerous requests (he only worked from home due to covid). He just worked on a design with us online. He used the plans from realestate.com.au. They were all wrong. The person who made the final check had to try to make it work, and it was never explained to me that the kitchen would lose functionality & form because it’s too squashed together. The online design looked good but left out details, making it look quite different to what we’ve ended up with- a squashed up space that lacks functionality. The materials are cheap. Designer was light on details. It’s looks so bad. I feel like we’ve wasted tens of thousands of dollars making our kitchen worse than what it was before! Oh, I’ve tried contacting freedom kitchens but the wait can be over an hour, leave a message with admin, they don’t phone back once they have your money! Absolute worst customer experience & outcome for our kitchen. I believe they should fix what they can & we should be compensated.
