Google Pay - So simple yet so awful...

I've had a Google account in one form or another since around 2005 and used so many of their services. I've always recommended them and defended them against Apple.
My recent experiences with them have been awful. They, without warning, turned off my ability to pay with my phone. When I asked why, I was met with borderline rude and unhelpful support staff who seemed to suggest it was my fault for not uploading certain documents they have now deemed essential.
I (reluctantly) uploaded my passport, however that isn't apparently good enough for them and once again I find myself cut off - a recent message from them suggested it was because I needed to have proof of an address I didn't live at or have any cards registered with.

They don't allow you to speak to them over the phone during the day (they are available from midnight to 3am though!).

I asked if I could make a complaint and was told it doesn't work like that but someone will definitely look into it.

A night ruined on London

A night ruined on London. Stranded. I was stranded on London with Google Pay that stopped working. I have sufficient funds. It wouldnt let me pay a £140 food bill. I asked them to split it in half. I paid the first half ok, but it declined the second half. Then declined every payment afterwards, including the tube

They say my bank declined it. Spoke to my bank who said that google set a limit.

Went back to google who told me that was correct (why did they blame my bank).

They then said they didnt set a limut and i had to go back to my bank.

My bank saidbthey get these calls all of the time from G pay customers.

Time to switch to Apple

My Apple friends dont have this issue!!!

Scammed into buying £200 of Google Play money

I recently was scammed into buying £200 of Google Play cards which I thought was a friend who couldn't get to store because he had a bad knee, which I knew he was having problems with. I bought 4 X £50 cards scratched the back and just before I emailed the numbers to him I thought I would just check and asked him to phone me; when he said he couldn't I realized it was a scam. I tried to contact Google on line but it is impossible to find a phone number. I phoned my bank and was told that Google wouldn't give me a refund. I have no use for £200 of Google Play money. In the US I think you can transfer any balance from Google Play to PayPal but not outside the US. I can see from the Trust Pilot reviews for Google that my review will probably not be read and Google really don't care about their customers because they feel they have a monopoly.

Not only do they think it’s acceptable…

Not only do they think it’s acceptable to steal from disabled people, but they are hiding behind Covid for breaking the law and preventing a disabled person from making a complaint or getting the Money back. They have the same respect for people as the current Prime Minister does! Learn to treat people with respect and turn on your phone lines so disabled people can contact you!

Scratch coupon rewards

Haven't had any issue with payment but they should be careful with which company they are associating themselves with. I received few coupons for eyemyeye.com, which i have learnt is a fraud company since my order from this company. Google pay was the one who introduced me to that fraud company, so 1 star for both.
