The scenery through the Alps was spectacular. I’ve taken one star away as the walk from Gard du Nord to Gard L’est was a struggle in the heat dragging cases. Our tour manager was extremely helpful, giving clear instructions re trains, platforms and carriages and managed to keep our large group altogether.
Very good hotels in Strasbourg & Basel and a good service from Tiefencastel hotel
It was very nice. All was taken care of. Was stress free.

Would have been perfect if there hadn't been badly coped with French train problems both there and back! But it certainly hasn't put us off using Great Rail Journeys again!
Fantastic scenery, great food at the hotel in Tiefencastel, and Cristine was terrific as our tour leader, even with some very short and sometimes difficult train connections. She was able to accomodate the less mobile members of our group and was very careful to ensure that no one got too far behind. This was a truly memorable trip, and no one minded that we saw a lot of snow on a couple of the routes into the higher elevations - it turned the forests into wonderlands and made for some fantastic photos.

Great rail trips,scenery super, well organised
Switzerland is beautiful and the Glacier Express ride is stunning. Disappointed that Strasbourg was cancelled a month before trip and replaced by a late arrival at Mulhouse. The main hotel in Tiefencastel lacks facilities such as a bar or separate lounge and although clean and welcoming is not of the standard I expected. Food is pleasant but somewhat repetitive and there is no choice given (except dietary requests). The wine served was not particularly pleasant. There is a very steep walk to the station (and no transport offered by hotel). There are no other bars or hotels in the village so evenings stop after dinner. Tour Guide, Demi, was very good. Some lovely places visited but we often arrived at or back at the hotels immediately before dinner and little or no time to shower or change. A pleasant trip but could be improved.
A fabulous experience, the trains were spot on time and the scenery was amazing. We had a full mix of weather, temperatures ranging from 25C to -4C. The trip was organised perfectly, the tour manager expertly keeping us fully informed and on track.

The trains are amazing. The views are amazing. The tour manager was amazing. What isn't so good is the information. There weren't enough details about how many trains the journey involved. Being an older lady it was difficult lifting my suitcase on to a security belt and getting on and off the many trains with a suitcase. A double decker train was the last resort. But it was a great experience.

My first solo trip so I was a little apprehensive but shouldn’t have worried. From first booking to arriving back in UK the process & guide were faultless.
