Superb trip to the Dordogne area of France. Action packed itinerary, staying in a picturesque town in a comfortable family run hotel, with traditional French food in their restaurant. October was a good time to go because of the changing colours. Would recommend.

Needs french speaking manager. Trips needed to be less rushed and spaced out over all days. Little thought given to those with mobility problems. Request for twin- needed room not passed on to hotel. Meals were said to be in hotel but were a walk away at local restaurant. Final meal poor quality. Holiday saved by the beauty of the location.

A lovely experience the nicest friendliest group of holiday makers I’ve ever travelled with. Hotel management and staff first class. Excursions well planned. Bryan Jones

A beautiful part of France, well worth visiting. Itinerary good, including two free days. Very pleasant Manager but I felt that if she had had far more details (and provided sufficient maps in time) at her fingertips I would have derived more from the holiday, including possibly being able to book a ticket to view the local prehistoric cave drawings. The nearest cave was only a short walk up the road. There was no availability for my free days. The hotel was really nice and the owners very friendly, but I had not expected to have to walk to a local restaurant for my evening meal. Journeys there and back, Sue had our safety as paramount which I appreciated. Eurostar terminal at the Paris end was pretty chaotic and very crowded for early Autumn. ALSO, my suitcase was really dirty on arrival and I am still waiting for your luggage travel people to get in touch re resolving the matter, So, many good points but three stars out of five from me.

We had a very good tour manager. The hotel was good and the staff friendly for the level of trip. The excursions were interesting - though there seemed little time for each, but that is probably the nature of the particular type of holiday. The journey to and from our destination was challenging, however, 2 trains and 2 coaches, with all the transfer of luggage involved.

I think the details about the journey are slightly misleading, although we had two rail journey to get to the hotel but we also had two quite lengthy coach journeys before arriving at the hotel which I don’t remember being included in the description. The hotel was nice and the trips all good but we did find food choices a bit limiting especially when trying to get items for a packed lunch for the journey home. However, beautiful area and a nice group of people.

A 7 days vacation, 2 days travelling, 2 1/2 days free time so in reality only a 2 1/2 day organised holiday. Decent hotel but has no restaurant so a 10/15 minute every evening for dinner. Les Eyzies is a sleepy town with very little going on.

I spent the whole week emailing with a query and complaint about my room within 15 minutes of arriving. I received no assistance from anyone. I continued to email on my return, I must have sent about 12 emails. I had a call from GRJ which was also unhelpful. Apparently it was 'my fault'. GrJ don't seem to understand Customer Service. I will be adding my negative review about this experience and negative customer comments other members of the group made. I previously emailed my photos to GRJ during the holiday Booking 2577276
Interesting museums in les eyzes, and Michelin restaurant. Visited Chateau and Surlat market, boat ride on the dordogne.
Too much coach travel and group too big
Not as good as other Great Rail Journeys. BUT that might have been us, as I would put the Value much higher! Maybe next time, we will check more carefully on the type of hotel (this was 3* without an evening restaurant), which was not as good as we would like. Restaurant evening meal food choices were very limited (no choice!). The area is GREAT - its a pity we didn't make more of it.
Lovely area and villages to visit. A bit unfortunate with the weather. Hotel and staff were lovely. Good food and wine
Very enjoyable lovely place.hotel very good. Places visited very interesting
The Hotel Les Roches was great, good linen, fresh towels daily, very good breakfast and owners exceptionally friendly and helpful. Restaurant good but the journey there and back was gruelling due to people using our coach to put luggage leaving us no space. Also there wasn’t a coach Paris south to go to Paris north so Michael had to put us in taxis. He was remarkable in sorting things. No complaints there. Perhaps as mostly elderly make a stop (although I don’t like the place) in Paris then continue as it’s a very long day both ways.
