The after sales service has been a great experience. The problem that I experienced with the app has been resolved and everything is running as expected.

So sad to see what's happened to this great company!!

We have only been customers of Green since April 2021, but we have had NO problems at all. It's terrible in my opinion that the Government has allowed this to happen. When the BANKS were in trouble they stepped in immediately to prop them up. Of course it is also valid to point out that the SHAREHOLDERS of banks tend to be rich people whereas these smaller energy companies mainly cater to people who are looking for the cheaper end of the market. Once again it looks like one rule for the rich and two fingers to the poor!

Not surprised

Not surprised they failed. Quoted me a ridiculously low monthly charge. I had to tell them it needed to be two and a half times higher, based on the readings I had supplied. The agent didn't seem to be particularly interested. Then I received an email the day before they went bust, asking me to sign a petition blaming a government minister for their woes. No. If you offer fixed prices, you need your supplies locked in and your prices either ditto or hedged. Otherwise, you're on the hook in a rising market. It's quite simple. The blame for their failure is the strategy they pursued. (I liked the app, though.)

I'm sorry it has come to this

I'm sorry it has come to this. An absolute shame that the government is not able to support independent energy providers. Have always had a fantastic service with Green. I cannot wait to be moved back to one of the Big 6 and get ripped through my nose. Well done Govt, Thanks for the tax hikes, thanks for millions who now will have to choose between heating or eating, thanks for your generous offer to NHS staff, thanks for cutting Universal Benefits and thank you for your utter apathy towards sincere small businesses bringing a fairer price to your citizen. What a waste!

Great company. Sorry to see them go.

Great company. The website is a great platform that worked seamlessly. Everything that you need to know is on there. All the payments made, all the bills issued, all the meter readings whether actual, my read or estimate. All clearly presented on the website. I joined Green earlier this year and I was very happy with their streamlined service. Very convenient. I am gutted that they have ceased trading.

Failed by government - Brilliant company

Failed by government. No other way to put it.

Great company, excellent customer service and exactly what we need with the oligopoly in the energy market.

The big six through no effort of their own will now have an increased market share. I can't wait to switch from them when wholesale energy prices revert to the average price.

Green deserves better.

After some bad experiences with previous rip- off suppliers, Green were a breathe of fresh air - A northern company with tech that works, simple tarrifs and great value. So of course the Tories don't care about them. Thanks Boris and all who voted for him.

Green Energy - Best I've ever used.

I've swapped and changed energy suppliers every few years for the last 30 years. Green has been the best company by a long way. It's absolutely tragic that this awful government have allowed them to go under, with Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng even daring to suggest that they were a "badly run company." How dare he. The only things badly run are this deceitful government and Ofgem. I hope the owners of Green Energy along with the other energy companies that have been abandoned by the Government and Ofgem join together and fight them in the courts.

Very happy with this company

Very happy with this company. No surprise for us so called “conspiracy theorists” that knew this was coming with electricity over a year ago. It’s about destroying businesses, bankrupting people and then the power outages will also follow.
No need for any of this and government is the driving force behind it. Everything is corrupt right now.

Good Prices. Bad Company.

I became a customer of Green in May last year. Switch was easy, and done online. BUT from then until September or October, I couldn't access my account. I submitted my readings by email, on the date requested. Every month Green emailed back with information that I could submit readings direct online. Every month I emailed back, and said I couldn't. Eventually Charlotte sorted things out for me. Finally getting into my account and seeing bills, I discovered they were all based on estimates - so what was the point of sending in proper readings?

Shortly after that Green had tech problems and I didn't get any bills. Then got one for November through to February. Requested monthly bills, and notified Green of what my bills should have been for the period they hadn't produced any. I also asked in February that I be refunded most of the credit balance in my account. Green reply was that I'd get my refund as soon as problems on my account were sorted out - as if it was my fault!

It became very difficult to get any response from Green, and I resorted to some very bad reviews - that didn't always work. Still hadn't got my refund, so I stopped my direct debit. RBS actually refunded it as it went through over a holiday weekend. Green never bothered about that either. Somewhere along the line I was offered £20 compensation, then £25, then £30 was most they could offer.

I wrote to the CEO, whom I now know is/was Peter McGirr, asking for him/her to investigate the matter for me. No response, so I wrote again. Still nothing. By that time I had firm contact with Toby in Complaints, who emailed that the CEO was not very "customer-facing". Surely he could have delegated my problem to a minion!

Finally I went to the Ombudsman. That took a while, but Ombudsman found in my favour, and Green was instructed to issue an apology and give me £100 compensation. The apology came by email and was insincere - and had bad grammar. The £100 finally appeared in my account on 10th September, and I sent an email that night asking for money to be credited back to my bank account. Automated reply - then nothing. Phoned the next night and eventually got a woman who she'd process that, but it would take 7 days. I don't think she did anything other than process the meter reading I gave her.

Emailed Toby a few days ago, and finally got response from him yesterday. By that time I'd spent over an hour on phone on Tuesday evening waiting to speak to somebody. When I got through to Aaron it only took a few minutes for him to process refund to my account. I had four separate emails yesterday notifying of the refund to my account. That was because three of them were my DD amount of £35 and the last one was the small amount remaining. I have no idea if they will actually transfer or not. Time will tell.

I'm sorry for the employees of Green who will lose their jobs over this. Most of the ones I had dealings with were helpful. It is a limited company so, Mr "non-customer facing" McGirr will come out of it unscathed. He is a Director as well as the CEO. He'll simply start another company to add to the fairly large list of which he seems to be a Director.
For further information check out Mr McGirr on Google.

Many people said Green re-instated cancelled Direct Debits. According to people I spoke to at RBS, that is illegal.

My sympathies to the person who switched from Green to Avro - who my neighbours are/were with.

Sad ending.

I've been with Green for a couple of years and they're among the best of the many energy companies I've had dealings with over too many years.

It's mainly a sad reflection on the Government that the desire to see 'fresh competition' from several years ago bites the dust as soon as the going gets tough.

It is these smaller companies that has forced the like of BG to get better - albeit not by much. And Green have been leaders in the calibre of their online system.

I utterly dread the fear of being forced back into the hands of such incompetents as Scottish Power - who should have been struck off years ago

Green has been a great company to be with. They have supplied my energy at very competitive prices. OK a few minor glitches with the app but every time I contacted their staff I found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Such a shame to see what has happened to them
