Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 174 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about poor food quality, missing items in their online grocery orders, and fresh products arriving well past their expiry dates. People also experienced deeply frustrating delivery problems, such as unannounced bagless drop-offs, severely delayed time slots, and unhelpful customer support teams refusing to assist. Some reviewers were happy with specific food items, mentioning good meat options, and appreciated polite drivers who went above and beyond. Consumers occasionally noted that certain purchases had no issues and that attentive staff members provided pleasant interactions during their store visits.

Completely broken app and lame customer service

I was initially impressed with their prices and offerings, but that soon changed when trying to use their Top Up Card or customer service.

The app they provide has never worked properly. The PayPal option which works fine with every other supplier's app or web site is just broken and can't be used.

The credit/debit card option used to work intermittently but has now been completely broken for weeks - you spend forever typing in your details and authorising the charge in your banking app only to have the Iceland App do the "busy" donut of death before returning you to the top up page with no error but no top up either.

They also ask you to add Iceland to your debit card trusted sellers so you won't have to enter the details over and over again, but the option does absolutely nothing and has never worked.

Customer service is a joke. They won't respond to all the issues instead just suggesting you "clear your browser cache", "reboot your phone" or "use another browser". I'm not using a browser - I'm using your crappy, completely broken app. What the hell does caching have to do with NatWest authorising the payment and your app just ignoring that authorisation - that is NOT data that is cached. They just send out cut and paste responses that have nothing to do with the issues you raise.

Some times if you have somehow managed to get cash onto the bonus card the bar code for scanning to pay at the till is covered by a popup promoting some crap you're not interested in and scrolling down to try and view the bar code just bounces back to cover it up again if you try and use it. Staff at the tills have never been able to fix it. This is basic stuff. The app is a pile of crap and not fit for purpose.

Then there's the endless spam messages. Every single day pestering message texts and alerts about the same crappy offers. For months. Ended up just uninstalling the app and swearing never to shop in the wretched store again.

Bagless delivery

Whoever thought it was a good idea to switch to bagless deliveries clearly hasn't considered the impact on elderly customers. Now, they have to struggle to unload boxes directly onto the floor while the driver just stands there watching. We’ve decided not to use Iceland anymore; instead, we’ll support Ocado or Morrisons, who have so far resisted the trends of the so-called woke agenda.

Never again

First off, they say spend £25 and get free same delivery but if you spend under £40 you will be charged a £4 small basket fee, so this actually false advertising and should be reported to Trading Standards.

I placed an order for delivery with a two hour window. I received the confirmation email, which didn't include the order number (unhelpful when you then have to speak to CS) two hours AFTER the delivery window ended. And then...NOTHING. no updates, or even cancellation, just radio silence. My entire day was wasted.

The following day the order was marked as completed / delivered. It wasn't. I then had to call four times to find out what happened fo various reasons - the store didn't pick up the phone several times; the line went quiet when I was about to hear what the store said... The number in the email isn't the local store as it processes to be, and on hold there is an awful white noise the whole time. You can ONLY call as well, which is totally inaccessible for many disabled and neurodivergent customers.

When I finally managed to get a "resolution" the store simply said they could deliver the following day (two days after it was due), at an inconvenient time for me. No apology or even an explanation.

Utterly appalling

O.001 of a star and sheep droppings

O.001 of a star , Iceland using offers very good offers but online shop only to access the offers , Noing was delivered and 12 days on still no refund of 90 plus pounds, again this week order was not delivered but after contacting them they have arranged delivery today but on looking at my account half is missing and a quarter is substituted of items that I don’t like or want, Another time order was placed for fantastic offers for kids lunch boxes and things they like so did a 100 pound shop only to get the message they couldn’t deliver on the day but will the next day , problem was the next day they took all items off offer and prices were at full expensive price so again another message they cancelled my shopping order , I’m now certain Iceland are using customers money as cash flow for the business because it’s happening all over the country to that many customers and there refund time is upto 14 days this day and age is absolutely scandless , I’m reporting them to trading standards and ask all customers to do the same to stop Iceland using us as cash flow , our refunds are most likely another customers money who has had there shopping cancelled after being sucked into the fake online offers only scam

Ordered online several times from…

Ordered online several times from Shotton and you either get missing items or items out of stock (even though they are on the website as available). Phoned and emailed Iceland Office and they dont get back to you. What's the point of having a Frozen food shop that 'sometimes' you get frozen of other times you dont. Sticking to Tesco. Hopefully they will get rid of Iceland 'Con' foods

Bonus card dropped off app and issue is still unresolved

Went to shop in my local store in Shirley, Solihull today, I qualify for the over 60’s 10% discount on a Tuesday, have to have a digital bonus card for this as they don’t issue physical ones any more apparently, opened the bonus card app, the card had completely disappeared off it! Rang them, woman I spoke to clearly had no idea what I was trying to tell her, she said the card had to be deactivated then reactivated, we then got cut off (or she put the phone down) and now I have no card so cannot now get the 10% discount on a Tuesday any more. Absolute disgrace. I was a loyal customer and that’s how I’m thanked.

Received online order 18th February…

Received online order 18th February 2026. Ordered 2 cartons semi skimmed milk 4 pints in each. They arrived dated 20th February as best date. As this order came late afternoon there was no chance of us drinking that amount of milk in the time scale. When we order from other retailers we get at least 7 days life. Telephoned Customer Services, could hardly understand person at the other end. Sent pictures as requested of the milk date. We have not heard since. Very poor service all round. Would not recommend Iceland as short dates on milk, not acceptable.

Beware of con on buy 2 get one free

Order placed. No prawns. 2 x items listed as buy 2 get one free. Placed order for 3 of each and shown as full price. Reduced order to 2 and items listed as buy 2 get one free which I assumed this was correct. Only 2 items delivered. Contacted Iceland shop and customer service and told I should have order 3 and prices would be adjusted. Basically hard luck, my fault. last order I will place with this company. Your loss Iceland

Normally would be a higher rating

Normally would be a higher rating, but took 3 attempts to put my order in
The basket would disappear when ready to pay, I probably forgot some items because the final attempt was £10 less than when I started, so you're losing sales
This was at 5am that I was trying to fo this, I'm busy with an early start fir work
Where I was trying to save myself time going into the store itself, the whole process caused me time & stress when also trying to get out to work

I am forced to give them one star but…

I am forced to give them one star but in reality they deserve zero!…. I placed an online order, but the rude driver due the fact the has a disabled person which was not able to go downstairs to help him, he simply went away with my shopping and put on the Iceland system that it was successfully delivered!….I contacted the customer service on the following morning to sort out this matter and they kept me waiting another day long to re- delivery my order but after two days still nothing…I am really disappointed also this is a serious matter, because is like in this company the employees have the confidence to steal the customer shopping!…. Thankfully I have a CCTV system installed on my front door and I will very happy at this point to report the matter at police station for theft and scam

disappointing

disappointing
I have been a loyal customer for years.

I tried to use my bonus card . it was disabled. I complained. Advised it had expired but not ever told. I am sure I had points etc on it too. Worse could not even use my over 60's discount either. not the cashier's fault who was very apologetic and kind. poor customer service. complained direct to CEO who could not even be bothered to reply personally. other discount stores far better . put off shopping there.

Avoid Iceland Ruislip carpark

I visited The Ruislip Iceland on Monday 9th Feb. At the side of the store is a public carpark but also Icelands own carpark run by a third party even though all signs say ICELAND carpark. I went in an evening when it was dark 17.58pm. Upon trying g to park the car it was littered with several UBER mopeds and several men drivers congregating in the carpark. This hindered car parking, couldn’t get a shopping trolley due to all the mopeds in front of them yet alone bringing a trolley full of shopping after visiting the store and using the adjacent alleyway. I have emailed ICELAND and they have said the carpark is fun by a third party and I need to contact the operator. It’s ICELANDS carpark! Do much for customer service and customer safety! Maybe everyone should shop elsewhere! Photos attached to verify review!
