Updated my review and feel I jumped the gun by giving them a one star.

They investigated it why my post was not being advertised, resolved it, emailed and and published it.

if gumtree or Ebay as its owned were to put effort in to protecting the users it could be again what it once was.
This site is DANGEROUS there are scammers,messers and personal information collectors galore! and i mean many more than genuine buyers, coupled with the fact gumtree consistently send is this still available messages which obviously goes nowhere but waist your time.
i have said time and time again to make it safer make it visible how long so called prospective buyers have had a registered account!
This cant be difficult and it would allow sellers to proceed with caution if the buyers account was relatively new.
You have absolutely no way of knowing anything about so called prospective buyers . No wonder its awash with scammers, this used to be a very good site, having said that so was ebay (and look what they have done to that! )
Watch out for a user named jason watts he will constantly be asking you to send pictures to an aol email i have his so called email address, there is a user named mark mobile number ending 24448 beware!
i could go on but my point is there's no attempt by gumtree to address the situation and make it safer for those who are posting on this site (you have absolutely no idea of whom your dealing with, unless they have live ads themselves ) gumtrees answer is to add feedback which is completely flawed and not fit for purpose.
Be very careful on this Site times are difficult and you may be thinking of selling a few items, Be on your guard and don't let it end up costing you.
Watch out

Gumtree are Utterly Stupid, they have removed a puzzle I had advertised on their site.
It was a plastic cigar in a whisky bottle puzzle, but I can’t make these “Brainless Bafoons” understand…
ITS NOT A REAL CIGAR ITS PLASTIC IN A PRETEND EMPTY WHISKY BOTTLE.

Don't know what has happened to Gumtree over the years. I am in the process of removing my latest Ads as all I have had is time wasters and opportunists.
Never paid for an Ad or to promote an Ad and never will. Don't like the reviews I see hear or the lack of response from Gumtree to peoples complaints. Yes sellers and buyers should be cautious at all times. I have sold and bought years ago with Gumtree without any fuss and met some lovely people along the way. Shame on the people who have contributed to Gumtrees downfall.

Was recently scammed on Gumtree, I thought I was buying garden furniture which, after paying for, I realised didn’t exist. The ‘seller’ had just lifted someone else’s photos & advert from EBay. I now realise this happens ALL THE TIME on Gumtree.
I gave the fraudsters name and bank account details to Gumtree - not only did they do absolutely nothing about it, I also found out I wasn’t the first person to pay money for this same non existent item !!!
If Gumtree knew people were being scammed by someone advertising on their site why didn’t they remove the advert / report it to police ??
Scammers obviously love Gumtree because they realise there is no comeback - they get to keep all the money they illegally took from innocent people with no comeback or prosecution.
Absolutely terrible company with no morals or customer care.
I will NEVER use again, and I advise you not to either.

VIPERS NEST FOR SCAMMERS, Scammed twice in 6 months, Gumtree don't want to know and the Scammers also know they can get away with their evil trade without any comeback. Gumtree needs to wise up or stop trading, so if your thinking of buying off Gumtree please think again and buy elsewhere otherwise you could end up out of pocket with no chance of any support from Gumtree. AVOID!!!!

Ive been sold fake bags ( total 2600) by Molly Neale from Nottingham . Im in process of taking her to court . Gumtree is scammers paradise .
If anyone knows her pls let her know that I will NEVER give up .

They take your money and delete your advert. My ad wasn`t even live for a second and I haven`t broke any rules. Screw you gumtree.

If I could do 0 stars I would. They don't have specific terms and conditions so could decide to reject your ad on the most ridiculous reasons and wont offer refund. Rejected my advert cause the price was too low, when asked what the minimum was she said there wasn't one but the price had to be appropriate. I said they can't enforce a rule when there isn't one in place and who's decided what price is appropriate when there isn't a guideline? Someone could just make it up on the spot.
The money for the ad came out of my account within seconds. Rejected after they took the money from account.

So they let you pay for services that they wont let you use, and refuse to refund.

Gumtree isn’t worthy of a star! It appears my grievance with them is similar to Many. I’ve never advertised with them before, placed an advert and paid £20. Almost immediately it was removed, I amended the advert, guessing as to how my advert could possibly have violated their T&Cs. They gave me no indication, after repeated requests! The second advert was removed immediately too, this time, thankfully I didn’t pay again. I spent a couple of hours trying to find information and eventually got an email to say my account had been deactivated as all my previous adverts violated their T&C’s (what previous adverts)? Something is very suspicious and needs investigating. I can’t get my money back so, it appears, you are scammed if you do and scammed if you don’t!

I got scammed on gumtree. The supposed landlord blocked me after i made payment. I will not recommed gumtree for anyone

My post was removed second after listing, I’ve been listing adds on GumtreeUK since 2016. Basically the response was we are not obligated to give you a reason and please don’t advertise on our platform, also couldn’t believe when I didn’t even get a refund and no answer. Very rude won’t advertise again on this platform!!!!!

Dear trustpilot I'm having problems with gumtree and would like to leave a unsatisfactory review of their customer service. someone else is pretending to be me and replying to adverts about animals for sale or rehoming many people have been fooled and turned up at our house with animals and have had their time and money and fuel wasted traveling many miles.
I have reported this six times now since it started in November last year I've never had a reply or correspondence and still it goes on. I have had the same thing happen through pet's 4 home's and also freeads both of which have been amazing and any ads or accounts have been blocked I find it extremely Difficult to believe that gumtree are willing to let this continue

Placed an ad for property wanted to let, and the only response was from a scammer trying to get lots of money from me. The whole thing started to feel a bit off, so I got someone in the area to go and have a look at the house. Turns out she knew the person who owned it and it definitely wasn't for rent. Contacted the police who advised not to use Gumtree as 90% of users are scammers and they have so many calls about it.

Customer support were helpful, but they seem to be in denial about the scale and seriousness of the problem.

Tried Gumtree for the first time to sell a carbon frame road bike, and paid for a week's advertising - all six responses I've received have been scammers using the same basic email scam trying to redirect me offsite. Have reported each one, but seems they can't block them. It's like a vermin-infested jungle of scammers, awful.

i posted an ad and it was removed with no notice or explanation at all, my funds were taken and as yet have not been refunded. It took hours to find thier contact details. This is the reply: "For the time being your account has been identified to be a risk and blocked for security reasons. We reserve the right to remove contect where we we have grounds for suspecting the violation of our termsn or the rights of any other party." WHAT???
It was a simple ad for kittens very similar to the others on Gumtree. Before this i haven;t used the account that i've had for over 15 years in at least 3 years.
How dare they make unsubstantiated accusations!

Yet again Gumtree has taken my money for an ad and denied the ad for breaking their terms and conditions...it was a simple ad that from reading their rules absolutely didn't break any rules. My yellow chair must have really offended them.
I see ads in their that are clearly breaking the so called rules. Money grabbing unethical scammers is what Gumtree is. Surely they can't get away with this stealing of peoples money??

They continually let the same scammers and fraudsters to post on the website after being constantly reported for fraud and you get a message back saying, you should contact the police, how about Gumtree actually blocking them and block their ip address so they can't create new profiles, gumtree are an absolute joke, l would give zero stars if l could

When the site works properly, it can be great.

I've used Gumtree Jobs UK for years on behalf of two businesses. The 'featured' or 'Top Job' options send a good amount of traffic - when they're actually working as they're meant to.

For near to a year now, we've been experiencing constant problems where we pay for contracts which include Top Job credits, but the credits don't work. They're deducted upon use, however the status or placement of the job posts themselves don't change at all. We don't get what we've paid for.

Gumtree UK customer service is a bad joke. One has to struggle for weeks to get a response from anyone, and when there is a response, the staff seem to be in denial about the long-standing problems on their website, which makes resolving the issues near impossible. Account managers pass the buck - I'm told to refer to the complaints dept, but there is *zero* response from them when I email or call. When I do manage to speak with a human, I'm told the complaint has been sent to the same acc manager, who refuses to respond to calls or emails.

We will happily move our business elsewhere at the earliest convenience.

A terrible company to place an advert with.

I placed an advert for a reputable company that has been providing the service for many years wwithout any problem. The advert was no different to many others on Gumtree, meeting all their Terms and Conditions, more so than many adverts of the type.

The advert was never posted and arbitarily removed by Gumtree for not meeting their Terms and Conditions. You have to wonder why adverts of a similar type are allowed to continue with no issue?

The worst is they have now stolen my cash and not refunded it, no worse than the many scammers and thieves advertising on the site that they are happy to promote.

Honesty is not acceptable with these Thieves and Vagabonds.
