Howard Hall is an excellent instructor and extremely knowledgable regarding numerous weapons. He will take sufficient time to demonstrate all types of weapons until you feel comfortable with the one best suited for you, including the disassembling, assembling, cleaning and storing the weapon. I would highly recommend him for folks interested in learning how to use a weapon and for those who are interest in upgrading their knowledge.

The instructor, Howard Hall, was very informative in every aspect of owning and operating a firearm. I went into the course with little knowledge of which firearm would be best for me to purchase, and after having sampled four firearms at a shooting range as part of the course, I know now which purchase. His mentorship was invaluable and taught me how to safely operate a firearm. I would recommend this course to anyone who wishes further their own knowledge of firearms, be they of any level of proficiency.

The training session that I had with Gunwhisperer was nothing short of thorough, professional and fun. Howard Hall, the instructor, was most familiar with the subject matter and has the knack for conveying that information in an interesting manner. Along with being well versed in the subject matter he has the equipment to simulate firing a pistol under dry fire conditions including laser and gas (to simulate recoil). Safety was always stressed including the safe handling, maintenance and storage of the firearm. After the classroom session we went to the range to test our skills. I had forgotten how much fun it was to go to the range and blow through a box of ammo. This is a serious course but fun and interesting and well worth the investment especially if you're looking into purchasing a firearm for your protection.

I was a little hesitant at first because I have never had any proper training with a gun. As soon as we got there Howard made us feel very comfortable. You could tell he is very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the subject from the very beginning. The small classroom environment was very helpful in learning the skills and preparing us for the range. Not only did we all learn a lot and develop our skills, but we also had a great time doing it. The experience absolutely exceeded my expectations in every way. I would 100% recommend Gun Whisperer to anyone at any level without any hesitation.

I have taken the basic class before and this was far superior instruction. The attention to detail and ability to adjust to each student was remarkable. The range time was the most fun I had that whole week and the instructor even followed up to answer questions about purchasing a firearm.

There was extensive information on home safety and gun safety, including learning about having a safe room at home. We were able to practice with laser training equipment before going to the range for live practice. There was specific information on what would be a good shotgun for home defense.
Howard is personable and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend his courses for anyone seeking firearms training.

I just recently moved to Virginia and decided to take advantage of my right to conceal carry in the state.

I had rudimentary firearms training when I was 12 when I got my first NRA marksman patches with .22cal rifles. As an adult I didn't own another firearm until 2008, for obvious reasons, and I got the most basic training imaginable through the owner of the gun store.

I found Howard's site through the NRA website when searching for the Basic Pistol training course to satisfy Virginia's application process. To be honest I thought I might look pretty foolish in front of a 22 year veteran Marine and competition shooter. Not so! Howard is very personable and passionate about his subject, and his enthusiasm is infectious, I have not been this excited about firearms since I was a kid.

The classroom work is broad and engaging as you learn the history and workings of modern firearms with hands on training, the subject does not move too fast and Howard will answer any question you can think of without any hint of condescension, simply a great instructor.

The hands on and laser training was exciting, safe, and confidence building. Once we got to the range, I felt completely at ease with all of the firearms and Howard's range coaching produces results! Even after the course Howard followed up through email with observations, pictures from the range and even more information on the pistols I was interested in.

I can not think of a way to recommend The Gun Whisperer more highly than to mention that my wife is signing up for the course as well.

Class with informational, great variety of weapons to work with, and hands-on. Extremely reasonable price that includes all the above with range and some coaching involved! Great instructor!

I attended the NRA Don't Be a Victim course taught by Howard Chip Hall. Truly enjoyed the course. He presented the NRA required information based on NRA's standards, likewise each of the participants were able to freely and openly express their experiences so that we could all learn from each other. Mr. Hall provided a pleasant environment which was casual but very informative. I highly enjoyed the class and will be taking more NRA courses down the road, preferably by Mr. Hall.

As a beginner with not much experience with guns this class provided the basics that I needed and that I believe every individual should know. The knowledge and professionalism of the instructor was outstanding. Better yet, for the cost; learning experience; and one-on-one attention this class provided an amazing value. I don't plan to own a gun, but now I feel comfortable enough to safely handle one.

Howard is great; passionate, knowledgeable and focused on his students' experience. With the small class size, he manages to balance the amount of "standardized" material required with one-on-one coaching and individual questions and concerns. I was very pleased with the course and couldn't have asked for more. I very much recommend him with no reservations.

I've taken an interest in skeet shooting and wanted to learn as much about the sport as I could. It was important to me to find an experienced instructor who could not only teach the dynamics, but also supervise and correct my form..

I found this and more in Lieutenant Colonel Howard Hall. His ability to break the instruction down to its' simplest levels for a novice was remarkable.

Howard made certain I was comfortable in my actions and explained each step. The patience he demonstrated as an instructor boosts your desire to perform at your best. He discovered something I did not know about my shooting form (cross-dominance), and advised me how to correct for it. He also was as enthusiastic as I was when I hit my first clay pigeon.

I would recommend this class to any one interested in skeet shooting. In fact, I would recommend it to experienced shooters as well.

I was very impressed with the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Howard Hall is a very personable instructor. He really emphasizes mastery of gun safety, operation and responsible handling. Sufficient practice with simulation and dry fire to increase familiarity with the pistol was so helpful before heading to the range to try live fire. Howard introduced us to a variety of pistols and coached us in firing each one. This was helpful to determine which fire arm might have the best fit and function for each person. The day was very informative and fun. I knew nothing about fire arms before taking this class. Now I feel more confident around fire arms, about purchasing a fire arm, and am looking forward to going to the range to practice. I highly recommend this course.

My experience with Gun Whisperer has been and im positive will continue to be excellent. Mr. Hall is a superb instructor with a real passion for teaching. This along with his emense resume make for an instructor who stands out among the crowd. Not only will you learn all you need to know and then some, but you will enjoy it every step of the way. I look forward to future classes with Gun Whisperer and I would recommend them to any and everyone!

I actually live in Texas and wanted to find the best firearm training for my cousin who lives there in Alexandria, VA. My cousin was introduced to shooting guns here in Texas a few years ago, and loved it. He has since really taken an interest in shooting and in getting a gun. I was worried about who would teach him the fundamentals, and what would be his instruction? Unfortunately, we are far away and he had no one near him to be a good mentor.

I was referred to Howard “Chip” Hall through the NRA guys. I spoke to Chip at length on the phone and was very impressed with his thoroughness, his experience, and with the content taught in his classes. After my cousin attended Chip's all day "Basic Pistol Course," I knew that I had made the best decision in sending him to Chip. It is clear that Chip has a top notch training program that covers all the fundamentals and beyond. Chip even sent me an assessment of how my cousin did plus a picture of him shooting.
My cousin is now set up for his "Shoot with a Coach" class with Chip. He can't wait, and I can't wait to hear about it.

My girlfriend and I took the NRA FIRST Steps Class, and it was great. Howard is very informative and passionate and the subject matter. Not to mention, even though the class was at his house, it was very professional. He even provides options beyond the class to keep progressing with your weapons handling skill. Highly recommend.
