Remarkable customer service

Remarkable customer service. Andy spotted that we had a ferrule that had corroded onto the spout of our aged watering can. He told us how to remove it and we bought the perfect replacement. Thank you Haws!

Old can replacement

My 4yr-old Haws watering can developed a leak in the base. They arranged to replace it completely within days with no fuss. Remarkable customer service, highly efficient, pleasant to deal with and still an excellent product. Could not fault my experience with them and highly recommend both their product and customer care. What a fantastic company

What a fantastic company. I had an old watering can from them which must be 10 years old. Unfortunately, the two wooden handles got a bit rotten and I wanted them replaced but they had stopped selling them. After contacting them Steve responded to say he would try and get two made for me. Next thing I knew they were in the post with at no charge.

This is why you buy premium products. You get fantastic after sale care.

Couldn't recommend highly enough. I have three of their watering cans and they are all beautifully made.

DISHONEST WEBSITE - Bought a brass spritzer (mister) in…

Bought a brass spritzer (mister) in 2021/22 and only started using it this year. The mister handle fell off so I contacted Haws directly whom I purchased it from.

Haws wouldn’t do anything as it was outside of warranty, despite me only just using it now which I mentioned to them.

I went to publish a negative review on their website, but, to my amazement the review never got published as soon as I pressed submit. I refreshed the webpage a few times etc but the review never appeared. I then went on to email Haws about my review not being visible and the advisor - Josh, confirmed that reviews take a day or two to publish and that someone would be in touch to discuss my review via the review platform. Neither of this happened, they only publish good reviews which I think is completely misleading about their products.

False reviews, poor quality product, no I would not recommend.

EDIT/REPLY TO HAWS:

No, you did not send me a new mister in 2021, you sent me a replacement watering CAN in scarlet red because your water rose kept falling off. That was another fault for a different item purchased at the same time. Get your facts right and improve your products and stop filtering off the bad reviews from your website. Shambles of a company!

Hi, not trying to confuse matters, what I am advising you is that last week we put a new mister in the post to you. Hope that helps, Mark. Hope the below message now makes more sense.

I spoke to Josh who advised that you were sent a new mister for the one you purchased in 2021. My colleague Mya was correct to advise that you were out of the warranty period for a mister, which has to be based on the date you purchased it. Josh after speaking to you authorised the sending of a new mister and as you can see from the reviews on our website, trustpilot and google we have a mix of good, medium and yes some bad reviews. We try to help all our customers where we can, but recognise that in some instances we have to agree to disagree. Best wishes, Mark.

Excellent customer service

Excellent service from Haws. Ordered a watering can rose via Amazon, who unfortunately picked the wrong one. Haws rectified the issue very swiftly and sent me the correct rose free of charge.

For all those people complaining about cans splitting due to freezing, ice can create a pressure of upto 100,000 psi. It is unrealistic to expect a steel watering can to be engineered to withstand such force.

Hi Gary, as per my email via Amazon. The first time we knew you had a problem was Thursday 18 April at 15:23 when you contacted us. We start at 7am and work till 4pm, so missed your email on the 18th. When you requested the refund, that is an Amazon action and an Amazon return label, that we don't get involved in, apart from being advised a customer wants to return their goods. On Friday our customer care person made a mistake and thought they had checked Amazon customer care before going home. My apologies for that, but luckily for me you highlighted on Trustpilot on Friday 19 April that we had not responded to your message and I was able to pick up the issue. I offered you my email address so we could speak, but I did not get an email back, so I have responded via Amazon today that we will send the rose you wanted free of charge today. It usually takes 2-3 days via Royal Mail 48 hour. Thank you for having a Haws watering can it is much appreciated by our team of 30 in Birmingham, 23 craftswomen & craftsmen and a team of 8 in the office. Any issues with the rose or if you just want a chat, please email me at mark@haws.co.uk. Also as stated in the Amazon email, we will be doing a review of why the wrong rose was picked, it creates a lot of frustration when these errors happen.

Customer service much better than before

I have bought two very expensive Haws watering cans and neither has lasted well. The first was an expensive steel one which was left in the greenhouse over winter with about a pint of water still in it. The frost must have got in and the EXREMELY thin base split - useless rubbish! The second is a plastic greenhouse can of which the body has lasted rather better, but I am now after about six years on my third rose. They do not appear to be made of uv stable plastic, and split after about 11/2 or 2 years use, so you get a jet of water instead of droplets.
Latest update, Haws has sent me a new, modified watering can which appears to be more robust, and enough plastic roses to last me a while. I’m hoping these will last longer than my original ones. So, thank you Haws.

Reply from Haws Watering Cans

Hi Richard, I appreciate you taking the time to respond via Trustpilot.

You are 100% correct; that base is on your Haws metal watering can is on us.

When you initially contacted us, the issue you described, was and still is a common problem that faces any metal watering can when water inside is allowed to freeze & expand inside the can.

Our response at the time, whilst frustrating for you (and others), was that we cannot be responsible for allowing a large body of water to freeze in a metal watering can. No one goes after the wine bottle maker when a bottle of wine is left in the freezer for too long and the cork pops.

All watering cans with water in them, will when starting to freeze, freeze in the spout first of all and generally as the spout blocks, the forming ice gets pushed down, and puts pressure on the base of the watering can, forcing either the base to pop out, or more likely; forces apart the seam that joins the metal bottom of the can to split apart from the metal body or side of the can.

In your case though what we were not aware of at that point; is that we had pressed at the work shop around 300 watering can bases too thin.

It's only as we got a number of complaints and some watering cans back to review that we realised our error. Looking at your images now, the tell tale sign that the error is with us (now we know) is that the logo on the base is where your watering can popped during the freeze. That's the tell for us that your can has a base that's too thin.

We went back over our records when we discoverd the issue to reconnect with as many customers as possible to confirm the issue we had. Unfortunately (and my apologies) we missed your initial complaint. So today, I've asked my colleague to send you a new watering can and I'll also direct message you also.

As to rose issues. I can say that we inject the correct amount of UV protection into our plastic, but the most common fault with plastic roses is that they get pushed onto the watering can too hard.

I am not saying that this is the issue you have faced and I'll put a couple of roses in the post too, but generally if you picture the pressure you use and resistance you feel when you tighten a jar lid before the jar goes back in the fridge, that's about the pressure one of our roses needs when being fitted on to a watering can. Anything more than that and you'll start to stress the plastic which leads to splitting.

When you get the new rose with your watering can, all our plastic roses are thermodynamic. So when you get the new rose, boil a kettle and fil a large mug with the boiling water. Let it cool for around 3 minutes and then pop the rose into the mug for approx. 1 minute.

Then whilst the plastic is warm, fit it onto the end of the watering can, again fit it like you are gently tightening a jar lid. And once you feel the resistance but know you have a seal, leave the rose on the watering can so that the plastic can cool. Once cool you should have a great seal between the rose and the watering can.

Hope that helps, Mark.

High class product

Following on from the most wonderful, professional customer service at Haws we have received the fabulous watering can, this is a quality product, my brother in law who is mad on gardening was extremely impressed with it and he should know his retirement is now spent in the garden.
It's great to have companies that specialise in products and are there for you if you have any problems, wouldn't hesitate to recommend Haws thank you

Exemplary service

Exemplary service. I’ve used Haws watering cans forever and the roses on two of them were leaking and spraying water in different directions. I found the Haws site to buy new cans. It was better than that though: spares are available so I saved myself a lot of money. I placed an order for three new roses about 10am one morning and they were delivered the following day just after 9am by Royal Mail. Fantastic service.

Outstanding product and customer service!

Somehow my order for a new large metal watering can and some brass watering roses, got mixed up and the wrong can minus roses, was delivered to my daughters address in the UK. I only discovered the problem and missing roses after I collect these and had returned to Dublin, Ireland with them! I contacted Haws and their response and actions to fix the problem could not have been better! Without even telling me... they shipped, by express delivery, the correct items to my address in Dublin! Which after Brexit isn't that easy and much more costly! So I very much appreciate this as well as the outstanding quality of their product. I already have several of their watering cans, but this can will be a gift to our eldest son, who now has his own garden to maintain. Thanks again to all the team at Haws. It's great to see that some traditional quality British products still survive.

Good product and service

I already own a few of their older cans, and treated myself to a new one a while back. Unfortunately it started leaking, but they took it back and fixed it under warranty without fuss. They make good watering cans, should last a long time and seem to have an on the ball customer service chap. Not sure my most recent can is quite up to the same standard as the old ones, but it is still a very nice bit of gardening kit.

We certainly hope it's up to the quality of the older cans, you'd be amazed how much raw material we had to reject during covid to ensure we maintained our quality even though the supply chain delays made that a tricky decision. Thanks for your order and taking the time to write. All the best, Mark.

Mr. Mothball bought a used watering can (approx 15 months old) off eBay and not from our website or a licensed dealer, this at the time was not covered by our warranty. We've since amended it but our customer care person was correct to say it was not covered when they did. We took the can back at our expense and fixed it (we thought) but unfortunately the fix was tricky (trying to mend from inside the can is often difficult) and the weld did not hold. Our QC should have picked that up and did not, that as a separate issue has been now discussed in three separate meetings to try and ensure that never happens again. Upon Mr Mothball advising us that the weld had not held, we apologised for our error and sent him a brand new watering can to replace the 15 month old can that had been bought off eBay second hand. In hindsight we should have better thought through the second hand market and warranties and we are continuing to clean this area of the business up so that it is fair to both the customer and ourselves. Many thanks, Mark.

Restored faith in company

Further to my review in March and conversations with the Marketing Director i have now had the leaking can replaced with a new can. I have also been assured that the fault, not just experienced by myself, is being investigated with a possible design change. Such a positive change in customer service

New life for an old watering can

I recently damaged the spout on my vintage Haws watering can which has given many years of good service. The company assured me that the can could be repaired as good as new. True to their word, it has been returned to me today in perfect working order. It's refreshing to receive such great customer service on a product that was bought so many years ago.

Great little watering cans

Great little watering cans, with a fine rose.
These cans are perfect for if you want to water seedlings lightly, or indoor plant watering without the rose.
I’ve had 3 over the years and one of them developed a leaky base (possibly due to leaving phostrogen plant food in it with water, but I’m not sure) but Haws got in touch and after exchanging a couple of emails replaced the leaky can! Very good of them. ☀️
