I have had the most wonderful service from Ruth at Heirloom in purchasing an engagement ring for my partner Rosie.

I was put in touch with Ruth through a mutual friend, and we began with an initial phone conversation, during which I outlined roughly what I was envisaging.

Ruth was easy to chat to, and within a day had sent me a very professional presentation summarising our discussion and making design and diamond suggestions based on my vision. I was impressed to see Ruth had got it absolutely spot on, and had understood what I was imagining exactly. Ruth was also incredibly discrete and we carried out communications in my preferred way (email with a coded subject heading!) so as not to raise suspicions from my partner!

We arranged a meeting in which Ruth brought some stones and mounts for me to examine and she was very informative. I made my selection and the finished ring was hand delivered 2 weeks later, with options to engrave and customise in every detail. It was truly stunning- far beyond what I thought my budget could get me, and with such a personal service too... I was blown away- and so was Rosie when she saw it.
I had imagined that an exclusive service like this would carry an exclusive price tag- but it need not. The ring I purchased is unique, has a story, and would have cost about 50 percent more from the high street for something even remotely similar.

My fiancée discovered Heirloom London and I first met Ruth when I went to choose my wedding ring. As a man I thought this would be easy, but I spent two hours dithering and asking annoying questions. She entertained them all, gave sound advice and got one made up for me in Fairtrade gold.

My fiancée's wedding and engagement rings are exactly what she wanted. Not too showy but definitely classy. Again, Ruth understood what we were after perfectly.

The cost is a good chunk less than the high street. We're not exactly minted, but scraped together enough for a sparkly diamond that inspires jealousy (which is apparently an important quality in an engagement ring).

Ruth was flexible about meeting and kept us up to date with regular emails after the order was placed. Full marks for customer service.

OK, I am hopeless at buying jewellery for my wife. Some of the things I think look great, she also thinks look great. But then there's the things she things just look OK, and the things that she things she thinks look dreadful. And when she and I are having that conversation, that means I have made an expensive mistake. Ruth at Heirloom is brilliant because she has great taste, but she also takes time to understand quite what is likely to work and what isn't, and she has great contacts amongst designers such that she has a really wide range of products to offer.

All wedding rings are not created equal. Well, that’s what I learnt when it came to having to buy one. I had no idea how complicated buying a simple wedding band could be. In order to fit with my engagement ring and suit my size and shape of hand, it had to be the right width, depth and ‘profile’. However, a quick call to Ruth, and a couple of photographs of my engagement ring later and she knew exactly what I would need. Her knowledge was fantastic, service superb and she filled me with such confidence that I knew I had made the right decision to involve her. Within an incredibly short time after our initial chat, our wedding bands arrived. True to her word, they were perfect! If you are reading this, wondering whether to ask for Ruth’s advice, well I can only say….do it!!

Heirloom were great. They fitted in with my diary in terms of telephone discussions and consultations. They were very helpful in terms of discussing options and ideas, so that when I finally made a decision I knew it was the right decision. And of course the they passed the final test with flying colours - my wife loved her new earings. I am please to see that she still wears them and they haven't disappeared into that rarely opened box where some of my earlier - not so successful - attempts at birthday presents have ended up.
