Fantastic, highly recommend

Our experience with Rowan was absolutely fantastic for both the purchase of our property then subsequently for the freehold. She was efficient, helpful and really helped us understand some of the more complex reports so we could make the right decisions. Could not recommend her more, it’s been a pleasure.

Worse than I thought possible

Worse than I thought possible. The level of incompetence was shocking, resulting in everyone involved in the sale to become very frustrated.
Any question, like 'What is causing the delay?' was met with either an apathetic 'I don't know' or word salad.
This solicitor caused so many issues and delays for everyone involved. We came so close to the deal falling through because of this solicitor. They delayed the deal by months.
The simplest task, e.g. sending a simple email, could take more than a week. Very difficult to contact.
I asked a senior solicitor if I could change to a different solicitor or create a formal complaint. She just forwarded the call to the solicitor that has caused no end of problems.
Worse than useless. Avoid. They could cause you a great deal of stress.
That said, I'm sure there are some solicitors here that are very competent, but sadly they didn't have much to do with my case.

We have read your review and must say that we are very surprised with the same.

You had significant contact with both your solicitor and her team throughout your matter.

You will be aware that the delay was caused by a disclosure that you made during the transaction and as we act for your lender too, we had to make them aware. You will also be aware that we chased the lender several times for their reply and updated you several times a week by phone and email.

The comments you have made about the deal being at risk, were not delays caused by us. We have referred to these above. It is not within our control as to how quickly your lender replies and you are aware of all the problems that we had. Your response to emails that you were copied in containing a smiling emoji from you.

You will be aware that we were ready to proceed on your purchase file 2 months before we actually completed but due to the referral you then made correctly to us, this caused the delay.

Further, you will be aware that the buyers on your sale were not ready until much later than we we ready on your purchase.

We have not listed any information above which highlights your matter or indeed gives away any information due to compliance, however, as you have posted a public review, we feel the need to reply to advise future clients of the facts.

Could have been less stressful

The team at Hek Jones did ensure completion and exchange happened on the planned dates but they do create unnecessary stress

- e-mail tend to go unanswered you have to keep phoning to get a response to your question
- They sent a large number of documents as part of the purchase process with a note stating that I could call to discuss any points for clarification. When I did phone I found the trainee solicitor quite condescending and the tone was 'are you stupid'
- numerous documents were required to be sent to them by e-mail. They had no secure portal to upload sensitive financial information

However when I have managed to speak with the solicitor she has been very helpful. The trainee solicitor has also been helpful on most occasions.

They definitely need to improve the communication side of things.

I would perhaps not use again since the poor communication was very stressful.

I highly recommend HekJones solicitors

I highly recommend HekJones solicitors. My case was assigned to Rowan Connel to act in conveyancing in regards of house sale. She was communicating and explained everything we have asked for. Their way of working is to reply within 3days. She was never late. Also had a cover when out of office. In the crucial days of sale she was very helpful and chased solicitors involved in the chain- to informed us of hold ups and what's happening. Great patience on her side and professionalism.

Thanks to Laura and Kayleigh!

My sister and I have just completed the sale on our aunt's flat. We were selling in our role as attorneys, so not something either of us had experienced before. Laura and Kayleigh were very helpful, knowledgeable and re-assuring and guided us through the entire process really well. Sincere thanks to both of them.

You have very regular contact with many of our team members, indeed emails almost daily and over 35 calls within the last 30 days.

Michael Thompson . Convenient help me with the sale and purchase of my new home . He was very patient with me due to me not understanding a lot of the legal side and would explain everything to me . He always got back to me with any issues and would always keep me in the loop regarding both houses . Guided through our first purchase by a dedicated legal team

I want to express my gratitude to the Hek Jones legal team for their assistance during the purchase of our first home. The only reason I can't quite bring myself to give 5 stars, was that as first time buyers we could have used a bit more guidance through the process - clarity on jargon, a more thorough transmittals process (clearly stating/numbering the forms sent and actions required, etc). This sometimes resulted in additional admin (on both sides) that could perhaps have been reduced/avoided.

I'd like to specifically send my thanks to Laura & Kayleigh - they were dedicated and knowledgeable, as well as always being very patient and friendly. They worked so hard within a limited timeframe to pull all the threads together for a positive result - we're very grateful to them!

Title: A Nightmare Experience with Hek Solicitors

I am writing this review to share my deeply frustrating and disappointing experience with Hek Solicitors. I was assisting my sister in purchasing a house and had to interact with this firm. The entire process was a nightmare, and I feel compelled to warn others about their practices.

Lack of Secure Data Handling
They demanded my bank statements.

They failed to provide a secure method for me to upload my sensitive financial information.

In this era of digital transactions and cyber threats, it is absolutely unacceptable for a professional firm to lack secure methods for handling sensitive client data. This not only reflects their incompetence but also their blatant disregard for their clients' security.

Poor Communication
Their communication was equally appalling. I asked a simple question about how long they would be retaining my data, a question any reputable firm should be able to answer promptly. However, Hek Solicitors chose to ignore my query, leaving me in the dark about the safety and privacy of my personal information.

Inefficiency and Lack of Urgency
They took so long to process the necessary paperwork that the deal fell through. My sister had to start from scratch, looking for another property because of their dithering. This caused unnecessary stress and financial strain.

Ignoring Data Deletion Requests
Even after all this, they continued to ignore my emails requesting them to delete my data. It was only when I threatened to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) that they finally responded.

Conclusion
My experience with Hek Solicitors was nothing short of a nightmare. Their lack of professionalism, disregard for client security, poor communication, and inefficiency have caused significant distress and inconvenience. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice. There are many other firms out there who value their clients and their clients' security more highly.

We bought our first house through Hek Jones. Since this was our first purchase, we had no idea of how things work out till completion date. Through this difficult process Laura Flook and Kayleigh Allen were very helpful, supportive and made us understand every step during the process.
We’ve finally completed on our purchase. Hek Jones Solicitors got us to completion in the time frame we agreed to. I have nothing but good things to say, that we were in good hands, and we appreciate to all team specially to Kayleigh Allen and Laura Flook they were exceptional. It was a challenging chain, but they were brilliant in resolving all issues and communicating effectively with us. It’s one of the most stressful times and they both did their best to be as reassuring and understanding as possible. Rhian and Leon were outstanding.

We’ve recently completed on our sale and purchase with Hek Jones Solicitors and Rhian Picton and Leon Jones in particular were exceptional. Too many red flags

Hek Jones pay a hefty referral fee of £778.80, if referred via Optimus/Yopa. This cost will be passed onto you, the customer, which explains why they are so expensive. Hek Jones knowingly send out starter packs containing out-of-date pricing information, because they are too lazy to update their own paperwork. Their subsequent lack of professionalism forced me to terminate service within weeks of starting. There were too many red flags:

Too expensive:
I estimated the total to be closer to £1800 - £2000, rather than the £1,401.60 initially quoted. Hek Jones operate so many additional charges, including a joint sale fee of £200, it's far from competitive.
In contrast, Warner Goodman solicitors quoted me £1,309.20 for the same joint sale, with virtually no additional charges.

Unresponsive communication:
Every e-mail took 2-4 days to answer, making communication tedious.

Unprofessional:
They wanted me to sign their terms of business, despite it not reflecting their current pricing policy. When I refused, they unbelievably offered to delete all the pricing information from their terms of business, rather than correct it.

No accountability:
They tried to delegate responsibility to Optimus, to provide me with correct pricing information, relating to their terms of business.

That a trivial pricing error can be met with such belligerence, proved enlightening. I suspect they were too busy with other referrals to provide good service. Given the price they expected to charge, I expected better.

Ridiculous

Absolutely shocking just no urgency at all.

emails go unanswered for weeks at a time despite chasing them and multiple calls that never get answered.
Asked to resend information as they cant locate it despite it being attached to the same email thread.

been almost 3 weeks now since receiving answers to all enquires. Still not heard a peep
at this rate my mortgage in principle will expire before they bother getting in touch.

UPDATE: Icing on the Cake they ask for more information on a bad review within 24h
Still cant answer messages, emails or call me though,
