Received a postcard in with my natural gas bill for home warranty. The card had a picture of an AC unit and simply said "If it breaks, we'll either fix or replace it". Sign me up! Started making payments through my East Ohio Gas bill. Couple years later my AC quit working. Tech said compressor shot and Home Warranty won't cover it. Called HW company. They said when I signed up I MUST ask for the Book of Exclusions. REALLY. Your ad says if it breaks we will fix or replace it. Nothing about the book of exclusions. Well you must ask for The Book. Filed a complaint with Pennsylvania States Attorneys Office and 6 months later they sided with HW company stating I Must Ask For The BOOK OF EXCLUSIONS! So in hindsight, NO company covers everything even if the post card they sent you says they do.

Service Plus Home Warrenty company refused to pay for the complete repair. I was getting my heater serviced and a problem was found I was given an estimate and called Service Plus to ask if they would need to send another company to do the work or could the company that found the problem was an approved repair company. I was told that I could have the company I had used could do the repair if the repair tech called and explained his diagnoses and repair, which he did. I called the company the next day and was told the repair was approved and got the claim #. When I sent the repair claim in after I got the forms and they told me when I called to check that they would only pay $100 of the $300 total because they were not done by a preferred provider of their choice. When I spoke to the service department they would not budge. I ended my contract at that point. The company will not send me my reimbursement because I am no longer a client, even though I was a client when the repair was approved and completed.

Three years ago I did have a one year policy with Choice Warranty. I cannot believe that on some best home warranty lists, Choice comes in at number 2. My $889.00 dishwasher broke and it could not be repaired so Choice offered me $149.00 to buy a new one. Yeah, that $149 would have bought me a good pair of washing gloves and dishwater soap. I had to argue with their claims department close to two weeks and they upped their offer to 410.00 and said that was it. I really needed to get it replaced so I took it but told them I would give them a horrible review on every website I could find and never renew with them. They said they could not have cared less. In summary, the replacement dishwasher was $849.00 + tax and delivery. My out-of-pocket cost was close to $500.00. How could this company get a favorable nod from anyone??

Bought a 3,000 dollar policy with Coice Home Warranty company and when my ac broke they don't want to cover it because they said it's dirty. They don't cover replacements. The technicians said it needs to be replaced from wear and tear and there case worker said based on a picture they can't cover it. Fraudulant company.That's some bull. You suck. I will see you in court. I'm active duty and this is not right. Then they will apologize on the reply like they care and do nothing. They even blocked me on Twitter for complaining.

What is there to like about this company? They advertise Repair or Replace which is not true. They advertise peace of mind which again is not true. I purchased this home warranty as they said for my peace of mind. Now we are almost in the third week after my claim The lead manager, who called himself Anthony Wilk, said that they cannot honor their advertising which clearly states "Repair or Replace". Nowhere on that ad is written or mentioned, that it is upon the discretion of the manager to choose! Usually, people purchase warranties so that when their's breaks it will be replaced by a like product. This company is a scam! you will end up paying money without them "Repairing or Replacing" ! Buyer beware! hold on to your pockets when dealing with Choice Home Warranty!

I've had a home warranty service with 2-10 HBW for over 12 years. For the most part I think I've received good service for the premium membership I've purchased annually - usually around $ 750-$850 per year. However, their customer service agent today dropped me after a 10-15 minute conversation after I had hel on the phone for 22 minutes. No call back. No cares by 2-10. This is unacceptable. I still think their system works farily well but will be looking about for better reviews with other home warranty companies for superior customer service. Regardless of how busy a customer service dept might be, each call-in customer needs to have the full attention and help of the agent until the issue is resolved.

Before you commit to purchase a home warranty off this site and any others like them, come back here and look at reviews for the companies that they are saying are so great. Many of these sites are paid to "highly rate" these companies. Do your research from this site and BBB.

Moved into my first house a year ago, wasn't sure about insurance/warranty companies (i.e. which ones are overpriced / poorly reviewed / etc.) beforehand and dug around a bit on forums to find a legit resource. I'm a huge fan of geekwallet when it comes to finance, and I swear this site is the same thing for the home insurance industry.

I went with one of the companies (can I mention it here?) that had highly rated, and have been very happy. I live in a flood-risk zone adjacent to a river and we had a bad flood a few months ago -- they took care of me and dealt with the damage to the basement promptly.
