My bag was stolen from the bus - all on CCTV and currently in court as they got the theif using facial recognition technology.
Anyway - my claim for an old laptop that was in the bag was initially denied as I wasn't clutching the bag - rather had it directly above me where you put your bag on the train (there was nowhere else to put it).
When I reviewed, they reopened the case, dragging me through months (literally 3 months) of stressful interrogations once again, employing a deceiptful company called Sedgwick which did everything in its power to prevent me from getting my claim processed (even though it was already denied). I never asked them to reopen the case - they just did it - noone told me it was going to be this stressful. Then all these months later I get an email saying the claim remains denied. This is all over a few hundred pounds I guess. Anyway - I wish I'd never left my previous insurer - don't be fooled by Home Protects cheap plans! They'll screw you for every last cent and don't care about their customers.

I did an online chat with someone called Shivam. They were absolutely amazing, so helpful, knowledge and gave the most fantastic customer service. I had spent time chatting with other companies prior to my chat with Shivam. But the service I received from Shivam was outstanding which is something you don't receive much these days. Our home was damaged by the storm on around 27th May. This resulted in damage to the patio which was caused by flood water and to our mower which was caused by the lightning. We reported this to Home Protect the following day who took down the details and who said they would arrange the next steps. I then received a call from Helen who claimed that despite the mower being valued at less than £1500 (the policy specifies items above this have to be listed separately) it wasn't actually covered because the cost was over this amount. The policy wording very specifically uses the term "worth" not cost on numerous occasions. We are raising a separate complaint with the FCA regarding this.
Helen then finally arranged the assessors to view the patio damage after numerous chasing calls. They clearly saw and photographed the damage and reported back to Home Protect. Helen then emailed to say "the patio has gone back down and the claim closed". When I called regarding this she said she could see the damage and would need to speak to her supervisor, which concerns me as her email.said there was no damage. Clearly Helen is incompetent and I am worried this is reflected across the whole company.
We are now almost a month from the damage being caused and seemingly no closer to getting this repaired. What should be a simple repair is proving difficult to get done due to Helen. There is no reason whatsoever for the delay.
Whilst many people are giving higher ratings due to the ease of using the website, it is important to know that when it does come to the unfortunate need to claim, Home Protect seem to instruct their employees to do everything in their power to avoid rectifying.
Avoid.

On the day my policy was due to auto renew you contacted me by e-mail to state that you were unable to take the money from my credit card. At the time I was on holiday in California (8 hours behind UK), so I used your online chat to re-register the same card successfully. The following day I received another e-mail stating you could not take payment. Eventually I had to telephone one of your agents to make the payment. The card used was the same in all cases. This was hugely inconvenient and expensive (international mobile calling), and suggests a fault in your systems.

I cannot recommend the service any higher, the website works well and is easy to use ( i am 70), the staff that i spoke to with regards to the quote were friendly and helpful. I then rang a second time to make a payment and set up the direct debit again staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
I would definitely recommend them.

I cancelled insurance as house had been sold, informed them and cancelled direct debit. 2 months later I found they had taken addition payt from my bank account without my permission. I got the payt back via bank. They are still insisting I owe them this money (£11) but I don't. Have sent emails, but keeps coming back as 'un monitored'. Wouldn't recommend them at all.
