Dear prospective visitors and Hotel Argana management,
I returned from Agadir yesterday (05/02–12/02) and wanted to leave fair, detailed and constructive feedback about our stay.
For context, my family and I booked three rooms: 4132, 4134 and 4138. I stayed in 4138, but the issues I experienced were the same across all three rooms.
⸻
First Impressions – Mixed
• We were required to pay a tourist tax at check-in before receiving our room keys. This was not clearly included in our original package and came as an unwelcome surprise.
• We specifically requested rooms next to each other, and this was agreed beforehand. However, our rooms were not located together.
• Check-in was 16:00. We arrived at 12:30pm and had to wait. We left the hotel to pass time and returned later to settle in.
• The reception staff were professional and polite.
⸻
Room Issues (All Three Rooms)
We requested four beds in my room as we have 4 people. Instead, we received:
• One double bed
• One single bed
• One sofa bed
A mattress had to be placed on top of the sofa bed in our room due to discomfort, and we requested additional pillows as the originals looked worn and old. The same layout was present in the other two rooms.
Each room had a sea view, which was genuinely beautiful and a highlight of the stay. Waking up to that view was lovely. However, the rooms themselves felt small for the number of occupants (four in mine including a young child; two in one room; three in another).
Other issues:
• Wardrobes were spacious.
• Hangers were fixed and inconvenient (they screeched when moved).
• Cupboards did not close properly.
• Only one room used the safe; it worked fine.
When we requested extra room keys, one receptionist reacted negatively and appeared irritated before eventually providing them.
⸻
Housekeeping & Towels – Important to Know
There is a notice stating towels will not be changed unless:
• They appear dirty, or
• They are placed in the shower
Bed sheets are only changed if requested.
Cleaning on the 4th floor appeared to happen roughly between:
• 10–11am
• 1–3pm
Use the room entry signs for when you want cleaning done or “do not disturb.” I had to ask for mine, but provided for other rooms.
The bathroom design caused water to leak from the shower area, meaning towels were needed on the floor to prevent flooding. This created an ongoing need for fresh towels. The bathroom (mainly toilet) space was extremely tight — even as a petite person, I found it uncomfortable.
Waiting hours for replacement towels and tissues became frustrating, since they tidied in AM then later and later.
⸻
Housekeeping, Restaurant and Entertainment staff – The Best Part of the Hotel. This is where the hotel truly shines.
The waitstaff were exceptional. One in particular went above and beyond — he remembered small details (for example, always placing a spoon for my soup and bringing extra napkins without being asked). His attentiveness and professionalism made dining feel special. I tipped him personally for his consistent effort.
However, I found it impolite and unprofessional that the waitstaff were expected to ask us for cash upfront rather than charge it to the room.
Other waitstaff were warm, smiling and proactive in offering assistance.
The Animation/entertainment team were energetic and engaging. They regularly interacted with guests and announced themed evenings such as “Kids Sing and Dance” and “Men vs Women Dance Battle.” I participated in the latter event — it was genuinely fun and well organised.
The housekeeping staff were kind and lovely. I attempted a few Arabic phrases, which they appreciated. One housekeeper even created a towel heart on my mother’s bed when I mentioned it was our final day — a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot.
The security men always greeted me and my family.
Noise/disruptions:
I wasn’t bothered about the late 1-5am club life next door as other reviewers have said, because we were high up in the hotel and went to bed around 10-1am most nights: It was noticeable but not annoying for me.
What did bother me was a family moving in our last 3-4 days and they were letting their kids run ragged from hallway to hallway, and this was heard around 7-9pm every night.
⸻
Final Thoughts
I would recommend this hotel only if you are flexible, relaxed about timing, and not particular about organisation or room standards.
If you expect efficiency, well-prepared rooms, proper bed arrangements, and smooth logistics — especially when booking multiple rooms — you may be disappointed unless improvements are made.
The sea view and the staff were wonderful. The management and room standards need attention.
Overall, I would describe the experience as mostly disappointing, with some genuinely excellent staff members who made parts of the stay enjoyable.

It was mine 16th time in Argana. I love this hotel ❤️ Very nice staff in reception, amazing Animation Team. Lots of entertainment during the day, and a fantastic show in the evening! Especially the fire show and the dance show with dances from around the world! Congratulations on the choreography and the idea for Abdel ❤️ Of course, the rest of the team was great too: Osama and Amine, Nana 💪 Very good breakfasts, everyone will find something for themselves. A large, nice pool, new, comfortable rooms. For me, Argana is like a second home; I recommend it!

I had a Hamman scrub and massage at the hotel spa - very good! My skin is lovely and soft and now I’m relaxed. Never had a hammam scrub before - a mix if steamroom and scrub. I thought i should wear a bikini but they gave me a paper thong. The massage was very good - just the right amount of pressure. Definitely recommend!

This is my first negative review about a hotel. Today is my first night at this place. We booked a triple bed but given two single beds which are like sleeping on concrete. My husband is on the sofa bed which he can’t sleep on as it’s broken. The room smells and feels dirty. The pillows are like a 100 years old. Can’t comment on the food yet but I have no hope. Will be complaining in the morning but highly doubt anything will come of it. I would never book this hotel again

Review of Hotel Argana, Agadir
We stayed here for a week (Saturday to Saturday) and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing overall.
Transfer:
The airport transfer provided by the hotel was terrifying. The driver was erratic, often straddling lanes on the motorway, ignoring speed limits and speed bumps, and with the check engine light clearly illuminated. The vehicle did not feel safe to travel in and certainly wasn’t what was described when booking.
Hotel & Rooms:
The hotel itself is dated and in need of serious maintenance. Our first room had a patio door that wouldn’t close properly and a loose bathroom door handle. We had booked a garden view room (as reviews warned against the poolside), yet were given a poolside room instead – the equivalent of trying to sleep in a nightclub, which is impossible with a 1-year-old.
When we raised this with reception, we were told to come back later. On returning just before lunch, we were told we were “too late” and had to come back at 10am the following day. Another sleepless night. The next morning at 10am we were again told to come back at 12:30pm for a new room. Why this couldn’t be resolved the first night, or why our original booking wasn’t honoured, remains a mystery.
Our second room brought new problems: a shower door that wouldn’t close (causing flooding unless we built a “dam” of towels), a cracked toilet seat, and despite being “further” from the pool, the noise was still intrusive.
Location & Surroundings:
Leaving the hotel is exhausting. From the moment you step outside you are constantly harassed – from people selling fake sunglasses and “genuine” goods, to children asking for water or money, and street sellers trying to put bracelets on you. The hotel advertises a private beach, but in reality it’s a 15–20 minute walk through constant hassle. Once there, the “private” section for Hotel Argana guests is even more run-down than the hotel itself.
Agadir itself feels very much in the early stages of trying to be a tourist destination. Unfortunately, the dirty streets, the smells, and the unrelenting pressure from locals keep you trapped in your hotel. Even trips out left us bored, unsatisfied, and always on guard for the next scam or hassle. The souk was the only highlight, but even there you cannot stop for a moment without being surrounded.
Positives:
The hotel staff were generally nice and tried to be helpful, but the systemic issues with the hotel and the area outweighed their efforts.
Conclusion:
As a seasoned traveller, I would not recommend Morocco, and certainly not this hotel. Even on the flight home, we found ourselves swapping “war stories” with other holidaymakers whose experiences were just as bad, if not worse. Sadly, this was a holiday we were counting down to end rather than enjoying
