Review of Hotel Argana, Agadir
We stayed here for a week (Saturday to Saturday) and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing overall.
Transfer:
The airport transfer provided by the hotel was terrifying. The driver was erratic, often straddling lanes on the motorway, ignoring speed limits and speed bumps, and with the check engine light clearly illuminated. The vehicle did not feel safe to travel in and certainly wasn’t what was described when booking.
Hotel & Rooms:
The hotel itself is dated and in need of serious maintenance. Our first room had a patio door that wouldn’t close properly and a loose bathroom door handle. We had booked a garden view room (as reviews warned against the poolside), yet were given a poolside room instead – the equivalent of trying to sleep in a nightclub, which is impossible with a 1-year-old.
When we raised this with reception, we were told to come back later. On returning just before lunch, we were told we were “too late” and had to come back at 10am the following day. Another sleepless night. The next morning at 10am we were again told to come back at 12:30pm for a new room. Why this couldn’t be resolved the first night, or why our original booking wasn’t honoured, remains a mystery.
Our second room brought new problems: a shower door that wouldn’t close (causing flooding unless we built a “dam” of towels), a cracked toilet seat, and despite being “further” from the pool, the noise was still intrusive.
Location & Surroundings:
Leaving the hotel is exhausting. From the moment you step outside you are constantly harassed – from people selling fake sunglasses and “genuine” goods, to children asking for water or money, and street sellers trying to put bracelets on you. The hotel advertises a private beach, but in reality it’s a 15–20 minute walk through constant hassle. Once there, the “private” section for Hotel Argana guests is even more run-down than the hotel itself.
Agadir itself feels very much in the early stages of trying to be a tourist destination. Unfortunately, the dirty streets, the smells, and the unrelenting pressure from locals keep you trapped in your hotel. Even trips out left us bored, unsatisfied, and always on guard for the next scam or hassle. The souk was the only highlight, but even there you cannot stop for a moment without being surrounded.
Positives:
The hotel staff were generally nice and tried to be helpful, but the systemic issues with the hotel and the area outweighed their efforts.
Conclusion:
As a seasoned traveller, I would not recommend Morocco, and certainly not this hotel. Even on the flight home, we found ourselves swapping “war stories” with other holidaymakers whose experiences were just as bad, if not worse. Sadly, this was a holiday we were counting down to end rather than enjoying

Following my stay at the Argan Hotel, I can only say that it was one of my best holidays with welcoming staff in a very clean establishment not far from the beach as well as the town center. I must thank all the reception services who listened to all our remaining needs. Varied buffet, top-notch entertainment, spa. I highly recommend. See you next time. Thank you, Argan.

As a first-time visitor to Agadir, 9 nights staying at the Agana Hotel has been an absolutely amazing experience for our family. The hotel is wonderfully family-friendly, with staff who are not only kind but also offer truly fabulous hospitality.
The hotel is impeccably clean. A huge thank you to our housekeeping maid, Hanan (I was in room 2139), who is absolutely wonderful. Her attention to detail left me lost for words – my children were thrilled to find a new surprise every time they entered the room, with our beds made into different creative designs!
The restaurant offers a wide variety of food options and is super clean. The waiters are very organised, friendly, and lovely to talk to. During our stay, I was assisted by many, though I didn't catch all their names. Special mention to Abdulrahman, who greeted me every morning during my walk through the restaurant with a big, welcoming smile. Rashid and the other waiters near the bar table area were also fantastic, always ready to assist us during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And not to mention the lifeguards by the pool! They were incredibly vigilant, keeping a constant eye on the kids and making sure they didn't go into the deep end. As a mother, this was so reassuring and made our pool time completely stress-free.
The reception team also left me lost for words – they were great throughout our entire stay. I had many inquiries (checkout times, WiFi, pool towels... you name it!), and their hospitality, understanding, and eagerness to help were simply astonishing.
Lastly, the spa was an experience not to be missed – quiet, relaxing, and truly serene.
I highly and definitely recommend the Agana Hotel. We will absolutely be coming back again and again in the future. It has completely won our hearts!

I’ve been to Morocco before. So I decided to return. I would never, ever go to this hotel again. The exertion activity guy was ripping people off so my husband told a couple to go around the corner & they’re cheaper there and the exertions guy heard & fully attacked my husband as he was angry at losing business. I caught this all on camera. I regret not calling the Moroccon police myself as the manager refused to. But if we can help fellow Brits save some money, we will! The guy round the corner was charging half the price! We were upgraded rooms but for being attacked, wasn’t enough. I tell everyone this about this hotel so be warned.

I've been at Argana more than 15 times now because the location (between beach and old city) is prefect. I will be there next week again.
Price/Quality comparison used to be good but prices are now going up.
4 things that are not to my liking:
- On arrival quite often there is no sea view room availbable (I always book sea view). You are put in another room for one night and if you don't react, you stay there...
- The noise from the disco/night club on the back site is too loud and too late
- For the last three times I've been there I've been told that 'the credit card machine is broken', so you are forced to pay cash or use the ATM .... all in all you get an unpleasant exchange rate.
- although my booking states that tourist tax is included, they want you to pay that addidional...
Ik keep coming for the perfect location and the freindly staff at the bar/restaurant/pool...
Please do something about this, good people at Argana!
This was our 5th stay atbthe Argana and we will be there again in May for a few days. The staff are all very pleasant and make you feel welcome and, in typical Moroccon style, are warm and friendly. It is close to the beach and I walk a lot so ideal for me. The spa is great too and the girls are so kind to our young daughters.
The pool is a little cold and the WiFi intermittent sometimes.....however, we keep going back so really like it!
It was a nice and wonderful experience in Argana Hotel. Warm reception .
Very nice and friendly staff with very nice rooms. Hospitality has been great!
However the only thing that would not give it a fully 5-star is that every breakfast we had the glasses, plates and cutlery would run out.
Beautiful and Morden hotel, all staff were nice and professional. I was on the third floor, I had a beach view, so nice.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner were nice, eatable but would have been nicer if chips were on the menu more as kids r fussy eaters when visiting other countries. This hotel is around 10 mins walk from the beach on foot.
- My only complaints are the NOISE from near by hotels and clubs, as small children can’t sleep early there.
- Internet connection don’t reach the rooms which is sad.
- My main concern is at breakfast, lunch and dinner the ‘staff would give priority to French ppl to sit on the tables more then to other culture ppl’, I did find this quite rude, and staff talk about u as u don’t know their language. But this didn’t bother me.
One really good point about this hotel is ,if u check out at 12pm and ur flight is late, the hotel has a locked room were u can leave ur luggage and u can either stay around or go out till u need to take ur stuff or leave.
overall I would love to go to Argana hotel again. U can’t let silly little things ruin the good things. As long as my kids had a good time that’s all that matters to me.
Hotel was nice very clean and staff helpful and friendly. The girls at the pool bar were great, Abdul in the restaurant very helpful. The ladies and treatments in the spa were amazing !
However, the location and restaurant lets the hotel down. Seeing previous reviews, we asked for a quiet room which we were told they had allocated us. Yes it was away from the nightclub, but it was next to the road where everyone comes out of the club and a motorbike parking area, so the early hours noise was awful. Coupled with the noisy tiled corridors we were woken up early every morning by the cleaners trolleys and noise from cleaning the floors. The cleaners come into the rooms early and take away the towels even if they were clean and didn’t return them until late afternoon when we wanted showers and then kept only leaving two when there was three of us ! I had to call housekeeping most days for towels.
The restaurant is a disaster ! So busy ! not enough tables, plates, glasses and most were chipped. No labels on food so as a vegetarian it was a battle every evening to fathom what I could eat. When asking staff they either didn’t know or just pointed to the salad , which always had meat or fish in anyway. I spoke to both the restaurant manager and chef to explain that vegetarians needed more than carrots and potatoes and suggested meals with beans, lentils and nuts for protein etc. and to keep the salads vegetarian. they said they would take that and the labelling on board but they didn’t and I just kept being offered tomatoes pizza from the kitchen.
Drinks at the pool bar were very expensive , more than double of prices at restaurants just outside the hotel.
Went last year in December with friends . Excellent hotel. Manager was great with us and so were all the staff. The food , breakfast and evening , was great and the hotel was very clean and tidy . Had a great stay ..will be going back soon.
The staff here made the experience great. A special shout out to Mr Adil the manager who made us feel extra comfortable. We had an issue outside of the hotel and he helped us and reassured us and made us feel less stressed. He did his best to solve the problem and fixed it for us. The food and restaurant inside the hotel was one of the best I’ve ever had. It is worth having an inclusive package as the breakfast and dinner we had was amazing with so much variety. The restaurant workers were really friendly and hospitable. I would definitely return to this hotel. Also the location is great and plenty of shops in walking distance as well as a shop to exchange money. The hotel offers excursions at the best price compared to other people.
Yes lovely hotel, lovely food and great staff that helped bar one. Because i wouldn't / couldn't change the room due to lack of energy and sleep laid into me.
How ridiculous. A person of power of course, with no brains, or customer service nous
However the other receptionist Souk made all the difference and made it very right. Thank you. A pleasurable experience Souk
The food very very good. The room was great too bar the fans so noisy in bathroom and outside room. Managed to sleep by force. Lost four days sleep pr more. The beach around 15 to 20 mins once you find the short cuts up a hill to get back. Hawkers all around, dont engage politely, the people from deep africa probably in hardships.
There is a hotel at the rear that makes alot of bass noise irritatingly in the early hours, (causing bad sleep that should have not been part of the experience, so choose carefully etc ) till for or five and six thats ridiculous.
They offered to change rooms but the fan noise was the same but i had the birds in the morning they room didnt have much to offer.
Do take a kettle, my friends said they promised a kettle that never arrived. But id say all in all food teas and everything is in plentiful. You probably wont need it.
Morrocoans are nice people of being helpful and also pleasant. However dont get engaged by initial conversations, of hello where u from... from hawkers et others who persist. The market i visited El Souk hid was enticing and very compelling, i visited most days for curiosity and buying stuff. Brilliant all in all and will be going again.
I will ensure that i will try for Agadia again.

Great staff, starting from the pick up from the Airport, about which Meryem contact us well in advance. On front desk Mariam was very polite, friendly and helpful. It was our first time visit to Morocco and we had a lot of questions, which Mariam patiently answered. Her recommendation for Hammam and massage at the hotel’s Spa turned out highlight of the trip. Maria from the Spa was incredible. Entire staff was very polite and accommodating, as this was our first experience of Hammam. The manager of the Spa met us as well to ensure our satisfaction. We strongly recommend the Spa at the hotel and Mariam will help you to choose the best procedures.
The rooms were nice, with very beautiful sea view from the balcony. Air-condition worked well and wasn’t noisy. Overall, the room was clean and only issue was missing towels and pillow cases, which the room attendant provided later.
We used the restaurant for lunch and dinner on the first day. It’s a buffet style with different country’s type of food for each day (we had French cuisine, in the other days is Moroccan, Italian, German as far as I remember). The food was excellent, nut on the rest of the days we had meals on the tours, so we didn’t use the restaurant. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choices, however at some times is getting over crowded and line is forming for most popular selections.
On the negative side - The wifi needs improvement. Also a kettle or coffee machine will be nice in the room

We liked the location of the hotel. It was easy to walk to the cable car, beach and Souk market from there. The food was good and staff polite. They have a reserved area on the beach for Argana guests known as location 12. We used this every day.
We didn't like our room as window was directly above a 6 lane motorway so we never got a good night's sleep.
The hot water was regulary turned off and only works some of the day. It literally turned off when washing my hair
The tourist tax payable on arrival is cash only. They wont give you room key unless you pay up front. Should have been 2.5 euros per night per person. As I only had uk pounds I paid in sterling which did me out of £12 as they used the same Euro rate. They pointed to cash machine next to desk but my card wouldn't work in that one (did at proper bank)
We did enjoy overall stay but for the traffic noise alone, which I found incredibly stressful. I would rather stay elsewhere

Upon arrival, we did not receive the correct rooms, so we were put into ancient 'Moroccan style' rooms with a broken door lock and substandard fixtures and fittings. The rooms did not match the original booking.com description or photos. We had to sleep in that room for one night until we complained, after which we were moved to the correct room. Therefore, I would like to seek a refund for one night. The same situation occurred for the rest of my extended family. So far, all attempts to engage with the hotel customer service department have been met with silence, and the complaint remains pending.
