Welcome to House of Hobbies. We are a small business selling model railway, scale model and RC kits plus all the accessories, paints and tools you need to create your miniature worlds. We stock all of the normal UK brands and try to specialize in the European and US brands too so if you after something for your model railroad or a new addition to your fleet of kits then please do come inside and take a look. **We hit a huge growth patch late in 2023 which caused issues with our service levels and we are working hard to implement changes to prevent them happening again. Better to be honest and own the mistake than hide away** Please do look at our reviews both good and bad and remember that less than 5% of happy customers actually leave reviews but we certainly do make mistakes and naturally get flagged on here for them. I guess we are saying look at the bigger picture and remember that none of us get up of a morning actively wanting to upset our customers. Thanks and welcome to the family. Martin

No item delivered

No item delivered, but no way to contact the company to check up. All emails are from a no-reply address. No public facing telephone number or email. Claims to be closed 5 days a week if you google them. Said up to 14 days. Its now 18. No idea if this company is genuine or not at this point.

How come after my last review 6 weeks…

How come after my last review 6 weeks ago I still have no goods and no refund. You are still taking orders (I tested it out) ! You should stop taking orders and honour the customers who have already paid and get yourselves sorted out otherwise you can only be described as thieves!

NEVER AGAIN

I made three purchases, none of which, despite being co firmed were never delivered. I sent two emails to their service centre, none of which got any reply. I tried ringing the service centre and each time after about 15 seconds I was cut off. I will be going back to PayPal to start the dispute process.

Where's the 0 stars button?

Website quoted "if your item showed as 'Available', dispatch is usually 7-14 days... please allow this time before contacting us to check on your order, we will contact you if there is a problem with your order." - We are now on the 26th working day since my order. As yet, I have received no correspondence, nor response to any of my previous two emails. Also, I have tried calling on their 01704 643413 number on numerous occasions, to no avail.

Trustpilot asked for this review to be constructive, therefore, I would definitely recommend all visitors to this page to scour the internet for other retailers of the goods they seek.

Goods not received

Goods not received. Emails not answered. Phone not answered and no way to leave a message. I will now have to get my bank involved to refund my payment. Wish I had read other reviews before ordering. This company is to be avoided at all costs.

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. try emailing and telephoning and you will know what i mean. i bought on 31st may 2024 and am still waiting on 16th July.
no answerphone and email address is not working.
I will have to get my bank involved.

Avoid at all costs !

Order 12th June.
Still waiting 15th July.
Numerous emails remain unanswered.
Telephoning is a waste of time, never answered and a terse old lady tells you that no messages can be left !.
If you need to know how NOT to run a business, here is a prime example.

We been ordered on May 26th but nothing receive so now is July 15th. Our son is very upset bec this item is for his birthday present was June so nothing happens.. ordered number WEB25364-415. We been emails three time, Facebook iMessage and WhatsApp but nothing heard from them. Find it very not respectful to reply… we are not happy about it. We want refund back.. never again order this company and find it very poor …

dreadful company,paid almost £100 for a model kit,no delivery,no contacts,sent emails,no reply,numerous phone calls no answer,cannot leave message,had to get my bank involved to get my money back,thank goodness for the RBS,

Sorry to do this

Sorry to do this. I have a lot of sympathy, I understand the company is small and having problems but I'm just not willing to donate my money to them. My order was April 28th. It's now July. I have had no correspondence (apart from the generic apology), no delivery and no refund (I ended buying from somewhere else).
What has made me leave a bad review is realising that despite not fulling or refunding an order from April they are still selling online! Surely if they are in such a state they should suspend selling to get ongoing orders fulfilled. My bank is trying to get my money back.
I hope as someone has said that they are able to get their act sorted for the future (it was a great store) but I will not risk them again.

I placed an order on the 23rd of June…

I placed an order on the 23rd of June and have not received it as at the 11th of July. Sent an email- no response, tried calling and no reply, just a message to say you cannot leave a message and to call back which I’ve tried and still no response. Completely unacceptable

I really hate leaving bad reviews but…

I really hate leaving bad reviews but it is so frustrating when you don't receive your order. It was placed 15/6/24 and it is now 10/7/24 Tried to contact by phone many times, no one answers and you can't leave a message. The email link comes up with send failure so I tried info@houseofhobbies that did seem go through but never got a reply. I know there could be problems in any business but basic customer services, answering the phone and answering emails if someone hasn't received their order is essential. All these bad reviews could be avoided.

FAILURE to SUPPLY

Over 2 months and NOTHING has arrived.

Emails sent and phone calls made to a non-responsive answering machine, but still nothing.

Flagrant breach of The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

Could be understanding if business is going through a difficult patch (have been there), but no response will destroy a business.

AVOID!!

Please don't use this company

Please don't use this company. Ordered in May, nothing received, sent emails, no reply, no answer on the phone. I returned an item after a very short message to say I could if unused and have had no refund. This was weeks ago and now no email responses to anything. It was unused and they signed for it so I know they have it! In total I am owed nearly £70. Running a business like this is a disgrace! It is stealing tbh. Keeping peoples money and supplying nothing. You were quick enough to take the payment now refund what you owe!

Situation resolved, money recovered

This is a sad situation as I have had good service from this supplier in the past. I placed my order 17th June 2024 without looking at the Trustpilot reviews. I noted the message on the sellers website regarding waiting two weeks before inquiring about orders that had not been delivered. I left it until the 6th July 2024 before sending a message, no response. I have sent the same message each day with no response. Today I requested a refund using PayPal and in less than ten minutes my money was returned. I suggest those who are in a similar predicament as I was and paid using PayPal do likewise. I hope House of Hobbies sort their issues and return to their former status as a reliable trader. It would be sad to lose another model supplier.

It seems I'm not the only one scammed…

It seems I'm not the only one scammed by this trader. My order has never arrived and no answers to emails. Contacted trading standards and they are aware of this company so I've added my complaint to the list, hopefully they'll do something soon to stop this trader. My bank are aware and in the process recover my money from this trader. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
