Welcome to House of Hobbies. We are a small business selling model railway, scale model and RC kits plus all the accessories, paints and tools you need to create your miniature worlds. We stock all of the normal UK brands and try to specialize in the European and US brands too so if you after something for your model railroad or a new addition to your fleet of kits then please do come inside and take a look. **We hit a huge growth patch late in 2023 which caused issues with our service levels and we are working hard to implement changes to prevent them happening again. Better to be honest and own the mistake than hide away** Please do look at our reviews both good and bad and remember that less than 5% of happy customers actually leave reviews but we certainly do make mistakes and naturally get flagged on here for them. I guess we are saying look at the bigger picture and remember that none of us get up of a morning actively wanting to upset our customers. Thanks and welcome to the family. Martin

2 months and still nothing.

Sadly after 2 months I’ve not received my goods nor had a personal email stating when It would actually be sent. I did get a heartfelt excuse email which it appears was sent out to everyone waiting for their goods, that was over a month ago and still nothing except… a special offer on purchases made, you couldn’t make it up! On the basis of that I emailed again but still no reply so today I opened a pay pal dispute for a full refund. I would strongly suggest to anyone making a purchase to use pay pal so you can at least get your money back.

Beware!

The order I made back in March took 6 weeks to arrive and was incomplete. Two items still outstanding. Phone never answered. Can’t leave a message. Numerous emails all ignored. Final request for a refund two weeks ago - ignored.

No reply to queries about order status, no sign of goods.

I placed an order for an n-gauge locomotive on the 9th May 2024, a week I received an automated message saying there had been staffing issues but the backlog of orders had been caught up, fair enough I thought I'll give it a bit longer before I contact them.

I waited for more than 5 weeks 18/6/24 (during which time the warning message about not contacting House of Hobbies was no longer on their website) before sending an email asking for an update on the status of my order or I would have to get a refund (I expected a reply within a week at most) As of today, 26/6/24, I have received no communication regarding my order and I just cannot afford to have almost £130 taken with no obvious sign of receiving any goods. I have now reported the transaction to my credit card company and will try and get a refund.

It gives me no pleasure to do this but I simply must look after my own finances...

Order placed 5th May 2025 - nothing received yet

Order placed 5th May, money taken 7th May... and nothing. Items not delivered. I have tried phoning, only no answer. Sent four emails politely asking for an update - nothing. This company is a sham business and should be avoided at all costs - take your business to another scenery provider and receive your goods and a positive customer experience promptly.

Where is my order, why no effort to contact me.

I ordered some n gauge bungalows, order no WEB25654-415 on 11th of June. That is 14days ago!
I received an email confirming the order and my money has been taken. In spite of emailing the company, I have had no contact from them. The models were ordered for the Famous Trains Charity in Derby. I shall certainly let them know that this is an unreliable company. Why can they not be bothered to make contact. If there is a problem, let me know. If they cannot complete the order then send me a refund and i shall shop elsewhere. Now I have seen other reviews I can see I am not alone.

No order confirmation

Ordered an airplane model for my sons on the 29th May and his birthday is tomorrow and we still have no clue if its coming or not. I never received an order number or anything like that. Tried calling multiple times and no answer, also emailed multiple times and again no answers, we have tried getting into contact with them for over a week and no luck, this is incredibly disappointing as
my son was looking forward to this gift as he has an obsession with planes, but sadly it doesn't seem like he will be receiving his present.

I placed an order 6 June. Money has been taken.
Heard absolutely nothing about it since.
Email has not been answered.
I wish I had read these appalling reviews first.
I am going to have to go for chargeback soon

Nothing received 36 days after order

I placed my order on May 17th. Items were shown as available so I expected them in a maximum of 14 days. So 36 days later and despite asking via email about when I might receive my order, I have received nothing - no products, no communication.
I appreciate that businesses go through challenging times but having taken my money 36 days ago I think House of Hobbies should deliver.

Frustrated

I am afraid my review will be similar to multiple others concerning this seller. Placed order on 4th May and despite failed telephone calls and three emails I have had no response to date (22/6/24). I understand they have had difficulties but this is becoming ridiculous. A quick reply email would be all it would take to relieve my worries. RESPOND PLEASE!

They have taken over £100 of my money and will not respond to any communications. There is NO customer service from this company, multiple emails have not been replied to, multiple calls with no means of contact - who runs a company with a customer service line that doesn’t allow for customers to leave messages. I have read other Trust Pilot reviews here that refer to ‘challenging times’ for the company but there is no excuse for taking people’s money and then failing them entirely with fulfilling the order and providing no means of even getting a refund. To make it worse looking at the latest Trustpilot reviews of this company, they are fulfilling orders placed in June, later than mine. I have had no response from this company and am £100+ out of pocket. Bad Bad Company. Avoid Avoid Avoid. As nothing so far seems to work with this company to get them to respond, I will leave a new negative review every day until this company reflects its responsiblities to its customers. I've never previously had to respond to a company negatively but I've never experienced such terrible customer service.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE they are unreachable by phone and do not respond to emails. They do not send orders. Read other reviews for clarification. I am pursuing a charge back from my credit card company and I recommend anyone else who hasn’t received their order do the same.

Ordered some peco rail and 2 sets of…

Ordered some peco rail and 2 sets of points the parcel arrived after 10 days on opening the parcel I set of points missing tried calling unable to get through just an answering machine constantly tried emailing rwice no reply.

Avoid, awful customer service

Ordered 3rd May, still waiting 19th June. Three emails sent, no reply to any. It is shocking this retailer is still taking web orders when clearly, they are incapable of fulfilling them. I have referred the matter to my bank for a card refund because I cannot get a response from the seller. Surprised with the number of negative experiences here that this retailer still has customer absent card facilities. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible

Terrible! Placed an order OVER TWO WEEKS AGO heard nothing! Can’t cancel as they just don’t respond. I know they are short staffed but I’d expect someone to respond to emails, cancel orders etc if they could not fulfil them.
Had to re-buy the item from a reliable source, I had notification of order and another from Royal Mail. Speaks volumes!
