Lovely buying experience- highly recommend HPL
Keiron and Callum (Bromborough Wirral Branch) were both so helpful when I bought my car. They patiently let me test drive two completely different cars in order that I could make an informed decision as to which one was best for me. There was no hard sell on their part which made it a lovely buying experience. I’d definitely recommend HPL and would use them again in the future when purchasing another vehicle.

The entire purchase experience and part exchange of our vehicle was seamless throughout, we would most definitely use HPL again. In particular I must mention Nathan Blake, our Sales Executive, he was outstanding, and made what is often a stressful experience an absolute pleasure throughout.

Buying a used car
Sara B at the Preston branch provided me with excellent service. Was upgrading my car and needed time to choose a car that suited me best. Sara was very patient and provided non bias feedback on the vehicle I was choosing. Buying a car can be stressful, Sara made the whole experience effortless. Highly recommend Sara and the branch staff at Preston. As I picked up my car, one of the engineers overheard a query I had and politely answered it for me. The I point make with this, is that they work as a team and it was refreshing to see this in a car dealership.

Appalling Customer Care: Retracted Legal Order & Zero Accountability
I am writing this to warn other consumers about the deeply unprofessional practices of HPL Motors Stockport and their head office management.
On Wednesday evening, I used their official website checkout to place a paid, verified reservation deposit on an Audi Q4 Sportback (Reg: ND23 LBZ) at the advertised price of £15,799. I received a formal, timed order confirmation receipt via their automated Stripe checkout system (Order #35320050134568) detailing a fixed remaining balance of £15,650.
At 8:50 AM the following morning, a salesperson phoned me to confirm the vehicle was successfully locked under my name, noting they had already received 6 to 7 further inquiries since 8:20 AM that were blocked by my deposit. He explicitly confirmed he was heading onto the forecourt to physically locate the keys, check the battery, and prepare the car for my afternoon arrival. Relying entirely on this direct corporate confirmation, I heavily disrupted my working day, rescheduled mandatory professional meetings, and finalised my travel logistics to leave Mansfield.
The dealership then waited until 12:40 PM—nearly four hours later and mere hours before my departure—to call me back and unilaterally back out of the transaction. They aggressively attempted to inflate the price by over £7,200 to £23,000, blaming a website data-entry mistake. They then manipulated the backend website to display a price of £23,499 while the asset was actively locked under my name.
After escalating a high-priority complaint to the Group Managing Director, I received a cold response from Head of Compliance, Dylan Rafter. In writing, the dealership admitted the car was displayed incorrectly due to a “discrepancy between software platforms” but stated they would completely refuse to honor the advertised price, refuse any compensatory or compromise arrangements, and would simply force a refund of my deposit.
To verbally lock a vehicle down at 8:50 AM knowing other buyers are circling, leave a cash buyer to upend their entire professional day, and then drop a massive price hike at the absolute last minute is a severe failure of basic consumer care and TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) compliance. Blaming "software discrepancies" does not excuse gross administrative negligence and terrible customer relations. Avoid this dealership group if you value professional service, integrity, and honest pricing.
Good car, lousy customer service
The car itself was great, good value, I only had it eleven weeks but it was in good condition. However the administration around signing was overlooked and rushed.
When I rang to cancel the three year warranty, after my car was stolen, no-one responded to emails, no manager was available to discuss it and whoever answered the phone was unhelpful. Still waiting for a response to my complaint.
HPL are not signed up to the Motor Ombudsman so they couldn't help.
Really disappointing customer service but the cars seem fine.

Hess the salesman answered my call at nearly 7pm in the evening - on a Saturday! These guys put in long hours! He could not have been more helpful.
