Visited the Poole branch today to buy 2 rise and recline chairs. Mary meeted us as we entered and listened to the requirements we both needed. She then proceeded to show us all the chairs and try each one out to see whether it met our requirements. On trying all the chairs we decided on 2 Aysgarth chairs and then chose the fabric from a fantastic choice. Throughout the whole experience can't praise Mary enough for her knowledge of each of the chairs and her patience even offering tea an biscuits whilst we decided. Would definitely recommend this company and staff

Stressless recliner order & delivery
Took delivery of my Stressless recliner chair today by Martin & Leon. Product is excellent, as were the very helpful ladies in the Poole showroom when I placed the order. Would have given 5 stars except for 2 problems PLEASE NOTE HSL HEAD OFFICE;
1) The ordering software glitch would not allow me to place an order at the time of my showroom visit (an hour from home)
2) The 16 week lead time for delivery which seems excessive.

Very helpful in store when we purchased our new furniture, although no one came to measure up as agreed. Delivery men, Martin and Leon were very good, especially when it came to taking off then replacing an internal door, to get the furniture in.
Unfortunately, there is a tear underneath the sofa, but HSL will be dealing with this.
Wrong size and hard textured chair
Wrong size suggested and sadly rest before it arrived.
Recommended extra petite and nowhere to attach remote having broken wrist. I then had to reach all the way down to pick up the remote. It has a strong magnet so needs to be able to attach to the side and not ruin myself reaching nearly down to the floor as it is very heavy.

Abysmal Customer Service From HSL
My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and his mobility was declining. We had my mother's HSL chair which he was using but it was too small, so in August 2025 we visited the HSL shop in Poole, he tried several types of riser recliner and settled on a grande dual motor recliner, at £2600. Due to his illness, we didn't want to wait 8+ weeks for delivery, so chose a design which would be available the following week. We ordered arm covers too, at an additional cost. The chair arrived, minus the arm caps and any instructions of any kind. The delivery men set it up, quickly ran through stuff, reported to their office the arm caps were missing, and left.
He was pleased with the chair, but it made some disconcerting cracking noises when rising and resetting, which we thought would wear off. We waited for the arm caps. And waited. After chasing them up with several phone calls he received an invoice refunding the £80 for them, he phoned and said he wanted them, apologies from head office, "we'll give them to you free," someone had cancelled the order. By now, the noises were getting louder when any movement was happening, and on several occasions the remote stopped working, leaving my husband stranded in the chair! This was reported to HSL, who sent an engineer, who told us we needed a new frame, and he tidied up some cables and said he would order a new remote too.Weeks passed, and the engineers firm contacted us to see if the frame had arrived. It hadn't, so I contacted HSL. After the lady I spoke to read through the history of this sorry affair, I was told no one had actioned the engineers order, but it would be done immediately. In the meantime, along with the copious noises every time the chair was operated, the remote also began to intermittently fail again, which was seriously distressing for my husband as he now spent nearly all his time in the chair due to is increasing illness.
Sadly, the new frame arrived, on 22nd November 2025, just as my husband was leaving the house in an ambulance to go to a hospice. He passed away the next day. We still didn't have any arm caps.
I am utterly disgusted by the incompetence and inefficiency of this firm. The engineers company Cassalon did everything correctly, but the customer service from HSL is woeful. The additional distress and anxiety caused to my husband and myself is unforgivable, from a company that is so fond of promoting itself and its reputation on TV and elsewhere. I would never buy from or recommend HSL ever again.And their warranty is not transferable, so bear that in mind if you were thinking of buying one.

PURCHASING A CHAIR FOR ELDERLY MOTHER
We were acknowledged and welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. Our specialist Mary was very attentive and completely understood what we were looking for and understood the specifications and information provided by the OT. Mary was able to assist us in finding the right chair and also in choosing the design and type of material we required for the covering. Mary made the whole process very easy and helped us every step of the way, we even had coffee and biscuits! I would recommend going to HSL and would definitely shop there again.

HSL sofa delivered
My mum had an HSL sofa delivered by a couple of lovely guys. Maltin and Leon, took the trouble to move furniture and place the sofa exactly where mum wanted it. Would thoroughly recommend.

Jason and Ashley delivered this morning, scheduled between 08.31 and 11.31.
They phoned at 07.50 and advised they would be with us in 15 minutes. And they were!
Really friendly, obliging, caring and as they were so early, we didn't have to hang around waiting.

Visited the Branksome Poole HSL Store…
Visited the Branksome Poole HSL Store on 9/7/25 as I needed an electronic riser chair and another manual one. I chose the automatic one in which I was sitting in the store straight away, However I needed a second chair and my partner was sitting in one and he said he was used to using a manual chair and I said in that case he could use it. Unfortunately I thought the chair did the same as the electronic chair, including the rising setting. The assistant in the store did not tell me otherwise and I was not invited to sit in it to see ife I could use it (I have Parkinsons DIsease), The chairs were ordered and deivered mid September. I disscovered I have no strength to work the manual chair. Two assistantants from the Branksome Store came to my flat to witness the fact that I could not use the manual chair at all. (I live virtually opposite the store). They made little comment but reported back that couldn't use the chair and that there was no nearby power point if I wanted the electronic chair. NOT SO. A double sockede approx 18" from chair. I said I wanted to change the chair for an automatic one. HSL will only let me do this if I accept 30%noff the existing chair's value as they say it is now second hand although no-one has used it but the store assistants. hey old me to leave the fire-proof label on it, which I have done for when they took it back.
This complaint has gone back and forwards for a month without resolution. I am told today that I can use the chair for visitors. I asked "what if they are disabled?"
Having spent a working lifetime in customer services I am shocked that the store staff are not required to ask a customer to check they can use a piece of furniture before they buy it and to explain to that customer what the functions of the chair are.
Poor training and one very disappointed and dissatisfied customer. Buyer beware I think suits it best.
Since writing the above, the head of customer services has contacted me. HSL Chairs will still not acknowledge the fact that the sales staff failed to ensure that the functions of the chair concerned did not meet my requirements and they did not insist that I tried the chair before I bought it. They also do not take into account that the two sales staff from the HSL Shop visited me and could see that I was totally unable to operate it.
There is nothing moe that I can do as the full details of my original visit to the store is not being addressed by HSL.

The Poole HSL shop is super friendly and accommodating. Mary was very informative and kind to my brother who needed a riser/recliner chair. We liked the fact that the chair is made in the UK and the after care package offered. Highly recommend .
I would like to thank and praise
I would like to thank and praise the 2 men who delivered my neighbours HSL chair today. Jack and Darren were excellent in every way. They waited while we helped my neighbour move from her old chair, and while we hoovered the space. They helped manoeuvre the new chair into place with my neighbour in it. They carried the old chair out to my neighbours garage. They were just everything you want by way of customer service. Jack in particular was excellent in explaining how the chair worked.

The staff in the store were friendly and helpful giving plenty of time for me to make sure what I wanted. I was informed exactly when the furniture would arrive and I'm very pleased with it. It was made as good an experience as possible.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
The showroom in Poole was bright and welcoming. A large variety of suites and sizes (super petite, petite, standard and grande) to try. Very knowledgeable staff who helped us choose our sofa and chairs so we got the right size, in a comfortable, relaxing environment. Large selection of fabrics to choose from. Ordering and payment simple. Suite delivered quicker than expected and kept informed well on the day of delivery timing.

Outstanding customer service and a quality product – highly recommended. Mary at the HSL store in Bournemouth/Poole gave us plenty of helpful guidance when we visited to look at riser recliner chairs. Our chair was delivered within 4 weeks by Jack and Martin who were friendly and took the time to set it up exactly where we wanted and properly explain the controls. The chair was purchased to replace an old HSL armchair which has lasted many years and is still serviceable. The build quality of the new chair seems first-rate and comparable to the armchair it replaced which is pleasantly surprising for nowadays. Overall, our experience of HSL has been excellent and we’ll certainly consider buying from them again.
Excellent store
Having looked on line at HSL, we choose to visit the store in Poole. We were welcomed by Emma and asked if we needed any help? And offered a coffee. After explaining what we were looking for, Emma kindly showed us what was available, encouraging us to try out the chairs . Once we had made our choice Emma then took time to let us choose, which legs we would go for and guided us thorough the extensive choice of materials . Once we had made our choice Emma guided us thorough the paperwork. I would recommend this store and found Emma friendly, helpful and not pushy.
