I need to carry two mobile phones (work and personal) but I couldn't find a belt case which would fit them both at the same time. Henry made me a custom leather belt case with space for two phones plus a small zipped pocket inside to carry a few odds and ends.
He did a very good job and I'm very pleased with the result.
He also repaired the zips on a couple of other leather cases.
He completed the work quickly and his prices are very reasonable.
I would recommend him for any custom leather work you may need.

Henry is a great craftsman and also has wonderful customer service. I bought a large satchel with all the available additions. It's a thing of beauty and I will treasure it and take good care of it for hopefully the rest of my life. As a minimalist I like to have very few possessions but of good quality. This really fits the bill and it will only look better with age.

Henry is a 'one man band' which means that each item is personally made by him, and he obviously takes great pride in what he does. He was very up front about the expected time between ordering and receiving my bag, but I actually received it earlier than anticipated. The materials and the workmanship are both extremely excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who is considering buying a hand made leather bag.

A couple of friends had a Henry Tomkins book bag (a book bag doubles as a travel bag, a hiking bag, more or less anything you need short of a suitcase), and I very much admired these and wanted one of my own. I ordered the large bookbag, which takes a laptop, books, documents, sweater, wallets, everything: it's really roomy. I wanted exterior pockets for water-bottle and umbrella, and internal pockets for pens, phone, a comb. Initially, it was to be used for carry-on luggage whilst travelling, but I also wanted it to function as a walk-about town and walk-in-the-countryside bag. At first, I was surprised by the weight of the empty bag, but the shoulder straps are so broad and comfortable, and the weight so evenly distributed when it's on my back, that I don't notice it as heavy when it's packed. I'm a woman in my mid 70s, and love to carry it. It looks good! I was impressed by the care Henry took with all the features I wanted, constantly checking back with me. He is a craftsman. And my bag has been very much admired by others. This will last me for the rest of my life and will mature with me!

After spending a year reveiwing and researching leather briefcases, I some how stumbled across Henry Tomkins Leather Company and was impressed not only with the quality of his work, but everything is hand-made to order.
Throughout the production process, Henry did a great job on communications as his responses were very timely and I could sense that he isn't interested in a quick sale or a "rush" job. For a hand-made briefcase, the turnaround time was quicker than I anticipated and working with Henry has been great experience - not too often these days do you get that personal touch/engagement.
The quality of the briefcase is superior, durable, and has been built for longevity - doesn't look like I need to order another briefcase for a while HOWEVER, I am excited to refer him out and at his price point, it doesn’t not make sense to shop elsewhere when it comes to leather products.

In a world of big brands and short cuts Henry represents that rare old school craftsman at a steal! My first HT bag is around 10 years old and recently got a bag made for my wife and a satchel/briefcase for myself. Loved both of them. Great leather and great product, thanks Henry!!

I ordered a zipper backpack from Henry Tomkins and its exactly what I was looking for. Its beautiful and functional. I have had it for 2 weeks now and Ive taken it with me everywhere. The one I got is the smaller version and it fits all the essentials really well. Its very comfortable to carry and Ive received several compliments already! It feels very sturdy and well made. The leather feels really nice to the touch and I am looking forward to seeing it age (and gain character with use to make it very much mine) .

Henry himself was very pleasant to deal with, very quick to respond and clear on expectations with any requests.

My new handbag arrived today, it's beautiful, so well made. You can see the care Henry takes in every stitch. I can't recommend these highly enough and I think they're excellent value for money. My last one is almost 8years old and I still use it regularly.

Henry was attentive and meticulous when I wrote to him asking for a grip bag with a few alterations so it could double up as both a work and weekend away bag. This includes a leather zipped pouch which is slightly expandable, so I can securely store a laptop.

He responded quickly and gave my request a lot of thought. He is not interested in a quick sale; instead he takes the time to make sure he is creating what the customer needs.

I am delighted with the bag. The leather is beautiful and supple, and the bag has a real sturdiness to it.

Henry is a great man to work with and offers excellent service. He's transparent with the materials he uses and is accommodating of any custom changes you want with his products. He's patient and responded to my emails quickly to answer questions I had. He offered advice and suggestions based on his experience which was greatly appreciated.

As for his products I bought a slightly customised Full Monty Leather Briefcase. My initial impressions are that it looks great and feels sturdy. It was well made to my specifications. The stitching and edge finishing is good. The gunmetal furniture feels robust but could use a bit of a polish. The front locking mechanism feels a bit finnicky and I'm hesitant to use the keys provided. The latch itself is fine. The clearance between the handle and the top of the briefcase is a bit small but not a problem if you aren't wearing warm gloves or have small-medium hands. Although the strap looks a bit thin it feels solid. However, the shoulder pad part is only attached by 2 rivets so I'm not sure how it will fare long term. In terms of smell it smells great and is not overbearing as the leather was veg tanned. As for postage to Australia the packaging was adequate and there seems to be no damage in transit.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase so far and the service Henry has provided. I would definitely recommend his leather products. It may be difficult to find reviews on his products online in places such as Youtube and forums but I can safely say the positive reviews and testimonials you will read are true.

I’ve bought three things from Henry over the years - a ‘full monty’ briefcase for me, a hunting bag (handbag) for my wife and a large shopper bag for my wife.

The briefcase is five years old, the handbag is two years old and the large shopper arrived today. The quality is just breathtaking. I’ve battered the briefcase, taken it all over Europe, lug it to and from work most days and it gets better with age. The marks, scratches, patina look superb. It has aged as you would want. I’m sure it will outlive my corporate career! The handbag is similarly superb and the shopper is built like a tank.

Henry is easy to deal with, very direct and very clear in his communications. My regret is that what he makes is so good I will only ever need one of anything.

Other makers charge a fortune for quality not nearly this good. Henry is a great example of how finding a local artisan is almost always better than mass market.

Just received my new bag (lightweight knapsack) within 24 hours of Henry posting it. It's just right. Right size, weight etc. The leather is soft and supple. It will age very well. Beautifully made in England by a talented craftsman. Well worth the money to have a unique, handmade product.

My 12 year old Henry Tomkins leather satchel needed some attention after carting around too many cables, computers and power supplies.
Henry came to the rescue and I posted it to him for a repair on the day before I went on holiday.

Henry was so extremely helpful with my enquiry and processing of the order for my satchel.
It arrived within the timescales advised and arrived the next day after dispatched.
I cannot tell you how very pleased I am with the satchel… beautifully crafted, exactly the leather and colour expected and I asked for a slightly longer strap which is just perfect.
