Inadequate service

I purchased a fridge/freezer online in April for next day delivery on the Monday to my new property After paying for it, I received an email advising that delivery was now Thursday. I've had to call an engineer out twice who said it could be replaced. Rang Beko up, got an uplift number and passed it to Hughes. Collection of old appliance and delivery of old one arranged for Monday. Old one was collected but no sign of a new one. Contacted Hughes and was advised it was on a separate delivery. Got a call from delivery company that they'd tried to deliver...to my old address! Why would you not check details if addresses differ? I now have to wait till Wednesday, till their next available slot. Wouldn't even attempt to arrange a next day delivery for me. Absolutely shocking.

I prefer HUGHES to other retailers as the staff that actually know what they are on about - not like some that just spout out the specs & have no ability to listen to what the customers say… Colchester store - Salesman Garry was a pleasure to deal with & he understood my needs & priced matched the item too! - Thank you!

Purchased a Dishwasher through their…

Purchased a Dishwasher through their ebay store. I realised that it still had my work address selected. I emailed 5 minutes after placing the order to let them know. 24hours later I get an email to say I have to cancel the order wait for a refund and then re order and change the address that way. Honestly how archaic is there system. The Customers service team just say "Computer says No". Save your time and money and go into a proper store and speak to someone these guys are useless

Excellent staff and service

We bought our fridge freezer from the Colchester branch the young sales lady was an absolute pleasure to do business with funny attentive gave us lots of info excellent and to top it off the two delivery guys were excellent helpful for with the delivery in poor weather condition with a smile and were again a pleasure top marks for those members of staff

Ordered an LG Washer Dryer with a…

Ordered an LG Washer Dryer with a delivery date of Saturday
Disposed of old washing machine ready for the new machine.
Very disappointed that the machines delivery date was moved to the following Monday when we’re all at work.
Why do this?? Why lie about delivery dates to get the sale?
We’re now without a washing machine for a week.
Very disappointed with there service and customer service who said if he could get one today he would. That’s what we bought wasn’t it.

flawed

I hired from hughes when I had fled DV and had no furniture. It was a godsend as I could not afford to buy appliances. I have been with them since 2017.

There payment system is flawed. You set up card payment and repeatedly they stopped using my stored card.

The appliances they rent out are budget--and while they work, they're used and are not perfect. I have been with them almost 6 years now, have paid them almost 3k during that time.

Am now leaving. They magically have the means to contact you if you are late on a payment, but can't update their system to take payments automatically. Then, when you choose to leave, they threaten you with bailiffs rather than arrange to collect the items.

Then tell you it's your responsibility to get the items back to them---no. Come and collect.

On paper a great company if you're in a bind--but it should be easier to leave and return the items.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

They must use a company to look after their reviews because my experience reflects that of other people on here.

They delivered £1300 75" TV broken, twice. The 2nd occasion I had started to decorate the room it was going in and was unable to inspect the TV for a few weeks. Naively i thought they wouldnt send it twice damaged. Plugged it in, never worked.

Utterly disgusting customer service in terms of response to this.

Oven Delivery

Just had an oven delivered by Arrow on behalf of Hughes Electrical. We were kept fully informed so we knew exactly what time it was being delivered. Paul, Kevin and Cooper were very helpful and we would use them again.

GREAT customer service, lovely staff always so willing to help

I have ALWAYS had a great experience with Hughes. From their staff in store to the staff on the phones they are always so helpful and try their best to get things sorted for you and genuine advice. I’ll always use them for all my home electrics. I had to deal with them again today but I’ve had the same positive experience with them for the last 6 years.

I ordered a Samsung American fridge…

I ordered a Samsung American fridge freezer via Hughes who uses Arrow XL delivery couriers (jokers) make sure when u order they do NOT use this company to deliver items as they use Arrow XL employs (joker) crew on delivery left goods in driveway in rain as they made out we can’t bring it through I manage to organise few colleagues we brought it in hiuse without damage and fitted through door they did NOT even offer no waiver just wanted signature and off they go and made out they did when I rang company I have Cctv live image recordings on this matter .. if I knew this was the case I would have not placed order with Hughes I won’t be using Hughes again unless they change delivery courier .. sorry Hughes

GENUINE REVIEW

Writing a public review must be accurate and genuine and this review is based on these two principles.

This company attended our property to undertake a days work on lighting. They did a fantastic job and subsequently undertook some other work today and equally great work.

I can highly recommend Hughes Electrical without the slightest of hesitation.

Hughes did not deliver when they said!

Hughes did not deliver when they said, instead they blamed it on the courier and suggested I take it up with the them. We were in all day and have a very load doorbell. Don't trust them to deliver when they say, they seem to have no way of ensuring delivery or contacting courier in a meaningful way. Once out for delivery they have no guarantee or come back and refused to try and help.

Always have good service from Hughes (Colchester)

Reading reviews below I am surprised to see negative ones. Obviously is linked to the individual branches in which case some of them need training. I live in Colchester and have used Hughes for practically all the electrical stuff in my house. I use the branch at Stanway and have always had brilliant service. My freezer conked out a few weeks ago and after checking they had 3 models in stock that fitted my price range was there at opening time next morning. Helpful staff as per found the one I wanted. Unfortunately, the delivery slots for this area were Weds,Thurs and Friday which meant that even if I left my freezer shut I was going to lose the contents (this was on a Saturday). My problem not theirs but then at checkout the member of staff spotted a Monday slot had come up and grabbed it straight away. It had not been there a minute before!

Needless to say I was delighted. I paid to have the old freezer taken away.

I was kept up to date of delivery slot, in the morning thank goodness, the guys came took old one away, brought in new one. All efficient and polite.

I have a feeling my fridge is not going to last much longer too so when I need a replacement I will go back to Hughes.

Terrible website

Terrible website. Pretty much impossible to order from. I was trying to buy 2 OLED TVs and a soundbar, but after an age getting them into my basket, once I went to pay, they disappeared. Every time.

Customer service offered to take payment over the phone, but as I was using a cashback site, where i'd be returned over £100, I asked if this could be taken into consideration. No, I was told, and advised to purchase elsewhere.

Dreadful website. Dreadful customer service. I bought through Marks Electrical and had a much better customer experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Double oven purchased, when the kitchen fitter tried to fit he discovered it was damaged. The damage was not evident until they tried to install. Hughes said it wasn't reported with in 48 hours so will not replace or refund. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. Do not use this company, I should pursue them with legal proceedings but I'm not sure I have time

Don't go near them.

Please shop elsewhere. Their site states their Trustpilot reviews are really high, but they aren't which you'll see on here. I purchased a microwave last month. It arrived a day late (which was ok), but it meant it was a few days before I could unpack it. Every single piece of polystyrene packing was in bits, and the door was damaged. Hughes were awful, robotically stating that I'd failed to report the damage within 48 hrs. They refused to budge, and only by involving Paypal did I get a refund. I still had to pay the return postage though, which was £19 + special delivery. At least I had a bunch of gifted stamps to use up.

Not professional

Hughes is not a good company to become customer of it . I ordered a TV which was set be delivered by 7th sept . I left my work just to receive the TV with full of excitement but Its 8 and still no info of it and hasn’t been delivered yet
