Purchased a Hoover washing machine from them through Amazon. Machine stopped working after 22 months. I approached the company and they just said it was out warranty. I went back to them to point out that goods are covered by the consumer goods act if they do not last for what should be a reasonable amount of time. I asked if they wished to repair the item or offer a partial refund on the item to contribute towards the cost of our replacement. Their response was contact the Citizens advice bureau regarding my rights. Well done Hughes Electrical. Your customer service is appalling. My advice based upon my experience is do not purchase items through their online store because once your statutory guarantee has run out don't contact them - sue us instead.
Poor Service
New washing machine arrived today. Additional fee paid for recycling of my old one. Driver had no notification of this and left it with me. Hughes advised will be a week before they can collect. I am a disabled middle aged man that is very concerned regarding the inconvenience and health and safety issue that Hughes have left me with.

Never used Hughes before, always used John Lewis for electrical good as their service is 2nd to none. Thought I would try Hughes as they could offer the quickest delivery on a washing machine I was in desperate need for. BIG MISTAKE! Paid an extra £20 for them to install it and £3 to take the packaging away. Delivery drivers said they were unable to connect it due to there being multiple joins in my piping, my washing machine is not right next to the pipes so this is how it’s done! They advised to call for a refund. The delivery driver then asked if he could put the packaging in my bin! I said I had paid additional for it to be taken away?! He then took it with him. I then emailed to get a refund on the install but was informed there would be no refund due to my pipes not being ready, even though they were disconnected from the washing machine they removed! After lots of arguing with customer service, still refusing to refund £20 for a service that was not provided and no stipulation in their t&c’s to say refund would not be given if they are unable to install it.

Bought Hoover through amazon hudges electrical store. First I received a "refurbished " product ehile i bought it as new. The priduct has dents, broken parts, missing screws... just seen to believe it. Still H-DISH 500 was the worst "smart" device and experience buying an appliance that I ever had.
Where to start.. well let's talk about the features of a connected hoover dishwasher.
Construction quality:
- Bad in every sense when compared with other brands, it's noticeable the low quality of the materials.
The connected device, well having a smart dishwasher is appealing, although.. this one is big, YOU HAVE TO LOWER YOUR WIFI PASSWORD SECURITY TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT YOUR APPLIANCE TO YOUR WIFI.. NO SPECIAL CHARS ARE ALLOWED ON YOUR WIFI PASSWORD OR SSID, WHICH ALSO RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW THE COMPANY SECURES YOUR DETAILS .. ITS A BIG NOOOO HERE. ALSO YOUR SSID HAS TO BE VISIBLE AND CONFORM WITH THEIR STANDARD.. MEANING IF YOU WAT TO CONNECT YOUR APPLIANCE TO YOUR NETWORD YOU HAVE TO CHANGE ALL YOUR HOME NETWORK BECAUSE OF THIS APPLIANCE.. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE???? The deliver.. believe it or not but I received a dishwasher with dents, missing screws, broken feets .. well you name it it had it all.. 3 DAYS AFTER COMPLAINING TO AMAZON I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY REPLY AND TGE AMAZON REVIEW WAS REFUSED DUE TO FAIL WITH THEIR TCS. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ONLY ACCEPTSORT OF FROM NOT THAT BAD TO GOOD REVIEWS... The programs are simple, nothing special and the machine doesn't dry properly. The trays inside have a bad setup, making it difficult to organise all you dishes, pans and whatever you are washing. The cutlery basket is small and of bad quality. Don't buy it, is definitely a bad product and a bad company to deal with.

Excellent service! Haven’t used this supplier before but can’t fault them! They were the only place I could find to have available stock of a specific fridge freezer and the ability to deliver within a week! Super polite delivery lads who took the packaging away with them. First class service!
Spent thousands over the years with…
Spent thousands over the years with Hughes previously Apollo at Preston for my various property companies. The service has recently deteriorated beyond recognition. They are quick to charge for delivery and installation but do not live up to promise. Had many issues in the past with my colleagues complaining of poor service. Today I experienced this first hand as I personally attended to receive the goods. The delivery team were rude beyond words, poorly trained and lacked any customer focus at all. I visited the store at Preston and spoke with management, it became immediately apparent that this attitude runs through the team, the store manager and his assistant were arrogant, indifferent and frankly abhorrent people. I will never spend good money with people like this again - they bring their company into disrepute.
Be warned awful customer service
Purchased a Bosch toaster £60 & matching kettle £50 from their eBay store. Toaster doesn't pop up or toast the top 1/4 of a standard size loaf. Supplied pictures to the responses of "it's working within manufacturers guidelines" & your bread is too big for the toaster" and so it went on. In the end I was allowed to send it back but at my own cost. Having previously purchased a t.v. from them at no problem I will not look at using them again.

Hughes staff, in Spalding Lincolnshire, have a natural commitment to customer satisfaction. Adapting every deal/purchase to exactly what we wanted.
I find such a friendly, no-nonsense approach a very rare commodity.

A Shambles
I was expecting delivery of a new dishwasher this afternoon. I went on line tracking to find out when delivery would take place to find the "Unable to Deliver"
I contacted the delivery company and after a number of phone calls was told that the driver had"run out of legal hours".
No one had been in touch with me despite being advised that I would get a call 30 minutes before delivery.
What are Hughes doing engaging a company that is so far from Norwich they don't have time to complete the trip?
What controls do Hughes have in place to monitor the performance and reliability of partner companies?
If you are going to use Hughes Electrical make sure the item that you purchase is available for you to take home.
I used Hughes specifically to keep my custom from the large conglomerates. No wonder the little companies are going bust
Excellent Service at each stage of purchase and delivery
We were recommended to go to Hughes in Preston for a new washing machine. The whole transaction was excellent from start to finish. The staff in the store were helpful, friendly and gave good advice; the delivery was two days after purchase - the Monday after the Saturday purchase. Installation was quick and efficient. Can't recommend highly enough. Would definitely return for future purchases.
Abysmal
Abysmal - new cooker not fitted, customer service both rude and uncaring and worst of all the bottom oven did not work. Do not use this company unless you want to waste both your time and money.
They get it right first time every time…
Previously purchased freezer last year and was pleased with service and delivery. Placed an order for tumble dryer because of this and again received excellent service. Dryer delivered on time by Arrow XL. When I need future purchase Hughes will be my first call as the communication has been first rate so it is 5star.

Bought an LG automatic washing machine, took out insurance cover with Hughes, the machine had a fault, which they said they wouldn't be able to repair, i must say first class service, from the first phone call, right through to the replacement washing machine, very professional and courteous, highly recommend this company.

I have been using Hughes for at least 20 years for various electrical items, and just recently purchased a Freeview Panasonic TV recorder, the customer service at the store was adequate, most companies these days normally send an email inviting a review for an item purchased, But unfortunately not Hughes,and on enquiring they were reasonably helpful about leaving one.
There appears to be a hard boundary between the online ordering customer service and the shop itself, I found the online Customer Service not very helpful, and would not answer the questions because I purchased in store.
Regarding the Panasonic Freeview TV recorder In question, Hughes do need to update on their website the misleading information regarding recording onto DVDs from the HDD on their specifications, as it states you can only copy onto Blu-ray which is incorrect you can also record onto DVDs as well as I have found out, and confirmed on other electrical store websites.
But overall a reasonably good shopping experience from a company I have been loyal to over many years
Their 5 year guarantee plan is well worth the money, and from my experience repairs department is excellent

This review reffers to Hughes.co.uk, I bought a compact washing machine Zanussi from them just before Christmas 2021.
They delivered damaged item and we took some picture to email them.the service was below low.
It took them 1.5 months to pick it up and to pay me the refund to my pay pal account another 3 weeks.By the way pay pal service was appalling too. When I opened a dispute with them they asked me to prove the damage by third party.
I will never go near to purchase anything and also getting rid off pay pal

Very helpful sales team and customer service dept. Fridge freezer slightly damaged on delivery, exchanged with in a week, no quibble,no hassle. Notified of estimated delivery time and this was kept to. Have used Hughes several times now and would recommend them 100% .
