I went to the studio in Camden London…

I went to the studio in Camden London for a photoshoot and was told my makeup would be done by the same person that done Rita oras makeup but when I asked the makeup artist she had no idea why they said that. I felt my photo shoot was a bit rushed and this experience has knocked my confidence massively as the makeup artist hardly put any makeup on me and I don't wear much makeup anyway. My hair was very damaged from heat after she used the straighteners and I looked like a poodle. I wish I just done my own hair and makeup but they say to turn up with nothing on. They literally spend minutes on your hair and makeup they didn't even put liner on my eyes or mascara just a dab of eyeshadow. After the photoshoot I got taken into a room and they are really trying to sell it to you that you are good and your photos are amazing but all I felt is so ugly seeing myself at different angles. I just wish I never went and stayed in my little bubble where I imagine that I'm pretty 😥

WHAT DO THEY DO AND WHAT DO YOU PAY FOR....

Similarly to many reviewers, I registered online and soon after I received a phone call to say that I have been "selected" to participate in a photo shoot with an aim to assess my modelling potential. I attended the photo shoot. The make up artist, very nice and friendly, but not very good with make up or hair. With respect, I could have done a better job myself. The photographer was good and very friendly too, but the pictures were average. Not much guidance was given. He was nice to talk with though.
After the photo shoot and long wait. I spoke to a male agent for at least 1hour and a half. I ended up paying a significant amount of money for the photos and various other products, including their service to liaise with agencies. There is no transparency as to what these services I paid for consist of. He did not give me the chance to think about it. He just kept changing the prices and making it sound like a bargain. He exhausted me emotionally. He talk non stop, very persuasively and reasonably. Why I ended up paying £1,000 for a service which isn't clear in any terms and conditions, I don't know....
I was suppose to receive "the contract" (what contract? I don't know! Everything was so confusing...) and the photo related products I purchased as well as the digital CV etc after 5 working days [following payment of services] but I am still waiting.... I tried to make contact with them and I did not get a response.
Now, could I please ask you if you have ever got a job thanks to Hype Digital? Because I paid for a service a total amount of £1,000, for them to find me work, or to assist with finding me work, and actually, that is not happening. I have not even received the products they promised.
Does anybody who has paid Hype Digital for their services to liaise with agencies and promote you as a model has any feedback? Because their website says they do not find you work. But what I paid for was exactly that, ie the promotion of me as a model with agencies and liaison with agencies.
In other words, what do they actually do apart from photos? Because I don't really understand their services.
Can anybody share their experience? Any positive experience? There are plenty on this site but unfortunately the positive ones do not sound honest: they are very high-level and do not necessarily sound genuine.
The truth is that I have now registered with a proper modelling agency and they did not charge me for my registration. They will only charge me if and when I find a job. I told them about my experience with Hype Digital and they told me that unfortunately many people fall into their trap. What they offer is not genuine, not necessary and put people under a huge amount of pressure to pay for services that they never deliver. That is of course illegal.

I went in as an experiment

I went in as an experiment, having already had a number of successful modelling jobs (without spending a penny in order to kick it off). The overall shoot (despite the hour and a half delay) and styling was a fun experience - first time I've ever been asked to bring my own wardrobe to model. This was under the guise of Covid guidelines on sharing clothes etc, but I guess it's fine to touch someone's face to do hair and makeup...

After the shoot you're invited to bring your bags and belongings in with you to see the "agent". Here you are told that you have either made the cut or not. You are given a brief introduction of their business plan, and told that in order to make it in the industry you need a portfolio and that these are "never free". Already feeling like I'm about to be sold something, I get a chance to see the photos produced today (very quickly). Having now finished with the pleasantries and sales pitch, the "agent" brings out his clipboard with a sheet of paper detailing his package deals. Without going into too much detail the high end package will leave you £3000 poorer and none the wiser - and the cheapest deal will set you back £299 and offer you 5 pictures. Here you may experience a stranglehold into parting with your money with the illusion of earing it all back after one or two shoots resulting from your partnership. After a bit of an exchange which wore me out more then I care to admit, I was ready to leave and claim back my deposit.

Now - the deposit is initially taken from you as a means of ensuring your attendance to the shoot. This is flipped on you as a "successful candidate" and are then forced to choose a consolation photo in place of your deposit. This is manipulation. You are entitled to your deposit on arrival to the shoot as you have met the requirements for them initially holding your deposit. Taking a photo will count as consideration for them keeping your deposit as an exhance of goods/services.

If you want a free photoshoot for a fun experience and are confident in your abilities to stand your ground and not be mislead then by all means go. Similarly, if you have money to blow and fancy putting your bets on them giving you exposure to modelling work then give it a crack. Otherwise, steer clear. Steer clear and you will be scouted on your own merit!

Fake Agency Liaison service that rips off £££

They rip you off! Do not buy £1500 Silver or Platinum package. Photoshoot was great then they made us wait for over an hour until we were called by Ric (agency liaison guy) who over promised lots of services and congratulating us that my son will be launched as a model in 6 weeks, only to get a few pages of Model guide PDF and 4 agency liaison contacts to go and sign up (and pay) with them separately. They even lost the photo numbers we selected for the e-portfolio and Z-card and uploaded their own selections. When requesting partial refund for the Agency Liaison service, they just took their stand and said refund is not possible as Agency liaison service is free of charge and that they've already done everything! Such a waste of money. Please don't fall for their expensive "Agency Liaison" service.

Arrived for test shoot

Arrived for test shoot, they were understaffed. Was a bit nervous. Make-up/hair artist didn't like the full make-up I'm blonde and very fair skinned in my 40's, red lipstick looks awful on me, could of done better myself constantly answering her mobile, not professional at all, I've done other types of shoots before.I had to ask for mascara to be put on. Nothing done to my hair. It was all very rushed, when finished a few good shots I'd say around 10-15 shots I was happy with I have bought the photos. The test shoot is for your portfolio and you pay anything from £300 to over a thousand. The photographer was nice though I look stiff and uptight on some photos they should tell you this. As it was rushed you don't feel relaxed. Word of advice you will be self-employed when trying to set yourself up. It's expensive but I still want to do it. Take 4 outfits, accessories, costume jewellery that your comfortable wearing and in good condition I took 7 but thats just me. Hair/make-up quite rude. Nearest parking lower trinity Street. Still waiting for my photos and it's 6th July now, emailed them to ask about my photos they said 6weeks maximum on the day . Then to be told on email that you won't get your photos till you paid all your package off. For me that is 6months I'm paying over for my photos. Don't waste your money, plenty photographers out there will do it for free (called time for prints) and give you digital form photos if they can use the photos to promote their business so win win that way

A good day out

After reading the reviews I was super sceptical about going. when we turned up I had my hair and make up done - the final look ended up being far too heavy and gothic for my liking as I am blonde and have fair skin. the photographer was lovely too. after the shoot we met with a guy who talked us through modeling. I can see how some girls may think this is a scam as no matter what your photos look like (some of mine were awful) they try and sell you a £4000 porfolio with promise of work. I declined got to keep one photo that I liked and had a fun day out.

Amazing day

We had a invite to attend the Birmingham studio at the weekend we paid the £50 refundable deposit which I thought was very reasonable, after paying I decided to check out the reviews on trust pilot reading quite a lot of bad reviews tbh I was a little worried but we had no reason to be as our daughter had a amazing day the staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we got there, everything was explained very well she had her hair and make up done, after changing in to 5 different outfits and having her hair done in 3 different styles we completed the photo shoot and had a meeting with the very friendly Faris who explained everything with regard to modelling we learnt a lot form our conversation we personally decided to wait and have a think about wether to spend money on all the photos that they took there was no pressure what so ever it was purely our decision to buy them or not. we were offered 2 amazing photos of our choice instead of having the refund back that is a very fair price as she had such a amazing time and would like to thank all the staff for very professional experience

Loved it

Had a shoot done here and I absolutely loved it.
All of the staff were friendly, encouraging and seemed genuinely interested in me.
Contrary to what others have said, there IS a set of changing rooms and even though the changing rooms have curtains across for privacy, the photographers still left the room to give more privacy. I felt like my opinions were received well and were important to the staff. Right from hair and makeup to clothing and actual photos. Leading on to the photos, the quality of the photos is amazing. I've never felt more confident with myself. Big thank you to all of you.
It was an overall very pleasant and fun experience.

Dear Mamie. I’m really sorry but as I am sure you are very aware there is currently a Pandemic and Lockdown on. It’s a little churlish to call it a scam just because you haven’t modeled yet. The country is on stand still.
