Matthew Stettner Owner on HyreCar Beware

I attempted to use HyreCar to rent a vehicle. This guy Matthew Stettner…owner of Toyota Prius was shown to be online but didn’t correspond with any communication in regards to the transaction. I payed the deposit followed the directions called and emailed through the app and then also from my personal number to find out what time I could pick up rental. After all day of contacting him I went to location car was supposed to be at but apparently they didn’t know him at that address. Matthew the car owner wasted my time and money when he could have corresponded and let me know the car wasn’t available. It may could have been rectified if it was communication. HyreCar doesn’t immediately refund your money to your account and have to wait 2 to 10 business days. Anyone renting does not have the means to pay double for a transaction if it doesn’t go through due to the owners neglect or scam. Inactive owners should be booted off of the system or a rating system should be in place besides at the end of the transaction it’s a false rating. Also the refund options should be issued as credit or cash whichever is chosen. Now upon the failed rental I have to pay and extra 15 dollar fee for Hyrecar to attempt to rent another car. Instead of a a-last online timer you should show response rate instead to safeguard renters who don’t have extra time and money to spare.

Wish I would have seen the reviews before I made a purchase . Haven’t even had the car a day, alll dash lights on and the car is barely operable. Will update if I get a refund .

0 STARS!!! DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HYRECAR, ESPECIALLY THE OWNER GDP MUSIC GROUP, THEY WILL TRY TO SCAM YOU!!! I had the worst customer service experience of my life, I literally never write reviews but I had to share my experience so other people don’t have to go through it… I had been renting a car from GDP Music Group through HyreCar for over a month and everything was fine until I paid for a 3 day extension and someone rear ended me while I was working for DoorDash. The car was damaged at the other vehicles fault before my extension even started (I believe I had about 3 hours left of the previous rental agreement) however I could not get a hold of the owner GDP Music Group until the end of the following day after leaving them numerous calls and messages. They did not respond to me until I asked HyreCar to help reach them and then they finally responded and asked me to return the car. I drove this damaged car and dropped it off at the correct location as soon as they provided me the address because I couldn’t see any previous messages due to the HyreCar app having some kind of bug that would disappear my messages. After this I was informed that I would not be able to rent another car until insurance resolved the case and HyreCar only refunded me for the last day remaining on the extension and requested that the owner refund me for the remaining 2 days that I was unable to drive the car. The owner GDP refused to refund me because the car was damaged even though it was covered by insurance and I was not at fault!!! This forced me to file a dispute with my bank who of course, resolved the issue in my favor because this was a scammy business practice. Unfortunately HyreCar then BLOCKED MY ACCOUNT and asked me to cancel the dispute “because it looks bad on the company” otherwise my account would be permanently blocked. I told them I would cancel the dispute if the owner agreed to refund me but of course they didn’t. I received another email from HyreCar today informing me that my account is permanently blocked and I am no longer allowed to use their service.

Not only did this put me out of work and without a car to drive but they actually blocked my account because the owner GDP Music Group was unwilling to accommodate my refund so I had to take matters into the hands of my bank. Apparently HyreCar is now OFFICIALLY PARTNERED with GDP Music Group… weird after displaying such shady business. Anyways, do not use HyreCar and if you do, DO NOT rent a car from GDP Music Group. They will try to take advantage of you if they can and COMMUNICATION WAS HORRIBLE! On top of everything, response time with customer service usually takes days or even weeks. USE A MORE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE.

Terrible company to rent your car…

Terrible company to rent your car through.
I was just told by the billing department that there is no 100% warranty that driver will pay for the rental. None of their protection plans covers that. So if you rent your car and the driver is late with the payment, you decide to be understandable to their financial challenges, at the end no one cares to pay you. You basically give your car for free to a strangers that take advantage and there is no protection for u. 👎

Death Trap Rentals & Malicious Billing Practices

Went through 3 (THREE) different rental cars that were in such poor condition, it became a safety issue, before being able to find one that was acceptable to drive for more than a few miles.

I actually liked where I ended up and the people I worked with in person (who have no connection to HyreCar beyond using it to list their services). The car was fine, transactions were all fine, pricing was decent. Then I returned the car after my issues were up, got rid of the app, and I thought everything was chill.

Cut to 6 months later, I get a random email out of the blue stating that I owe them money, but with no reason why. I replied to the email just asking for more information, and their response was to immediately charge my account (which overdrew me), and then AFTER that send an email stating I had been found liable for a "cleaning fee".

At best, the car had some dirt under the drivers foot area that needed to be vacuumed out, but whatever. No big deal.

Had they actually given me a reply to my email so could make the arrangement we would have had no issue. When I reached out to customer service, they started spouting off about lawyers and trying to charge me EVEN MORE for extraneous fees and this that and the other. Needless to say I put a stop payment on them immediately and found this website.

If you are in a pinch, and have NO other options, I would still say this is your best bet. However, I imagine there are other (similar) options out there that MAY at least be more up-front with you.

Regarding the first 3 cars - You can't go for the cheapest option on this app unless you want to die. Step up at least $20-$30 from the base-line price to save yourself a huge headache.

HyreCar support as been great

HyreCar support as been great. Whenever I have a question they are prompt and answer my questions or resolve a problem quickly. Recently Antonio Colin assisted me when I was having a network problem and couldn't check-in a rental. I emailed, and Antonio took care of it quickly. Again so far all support has been excellent.

HyreCar is a non-trustworthy company…

HyreCar is a non-trustworthy company with very little integrity. After I rented a car from an owner with a proven record of renting out broken down vehicles. I rented the car for 2 days and in less than 11 hours of rental, the car broke down. The car owner refused to come and get the car the same night which kicked off a slew of unpleasant events that I had to take care of myself. I contacted HyreCar the same night the incident happened and even conference them in with the car owner twice who hung up the phone on us. I kept them in the loop along the way. The vehicle owner ended my rental about 12 hours later. I had paid for 2 days yet I had the car for less than half a day. Despite being terribly inconvenienced with a broken down vehicle HyreCar refused to refund any of my money. They wasted no time in charging me $58 for gas that I used and I had to pay almost $30 for an Uber to take me home that night after the car broke down. I wrote them 5 or 6 emails and they never responded to any of them. I made at least 6 phone calls speaking to different people in different departments. No one did anything. Finally I had to put in a dispute with my credit card company. HyreCar blocked my account because I did that and sent me an email telling me to withdraw the dispute. I refused. After investigating my credit card company found them liable and reversed the charges paying me back my money. HyreCar wrote me a letter telling me that my account is blocked because I put in the dispute. Rather than issuing me an apology, this is how they chose to handle the situation. I wrote them endless emails explaining to them what happened that night, which they were fully. When I called the owner of the vehicle the night the incident happened higher car was conferenced in the phone conversation. I kept them in the loop every step of the way. I provided them with every bit of evidence I had including an incident report that I filed with the police, photographs, videos, copies of text messages between me and the car owner. I gave them everything yet they had all the evidence at their disposal and they did not want to refund my money. They are very unprofessional, unscrupulous and dishonest. I told them they can go ahead and delete my account because I have no interest in renting a vehicle with a company that operates so unprofessionally. They did not hold the car owner liable for anything he did, including his refusal to pick up the broken down vehicle that night when it was his responsibility. HyreCar even had to email him a copy of their policy reminding him that it was his responsibility. They were aware of that because I was on the phone when they sent the email that I had them copy me. They knew all the facts of what transpired that night yet they simply refused to refund any of my money and they had no cause to keep it. Terrible company!!!

Noe Rodriguez is a great account manager. His customer service is exceptional. He responds quickly and always gets to the bottom of whatever issues I'm having. Noe is definitely an asset to the HyreCar Account Manager team.

Noe R great customer service

Noe Rodriguez has been our point of contact when dealing with HyreCar. His customer service is great and he does his best to answer our questions and responds quickly. He has helped us setup our account and also help with following up with claims and renters. Although the HyreCar platform has some flaws, Noe has been one of the bright spots for this company.

Mr.Carlos understood my situation when first signing up. After the understanding between him and I, my background check and all documents were right. Here I am ready to get approved as well as looking for all reviews from owners renting cars.

My billing support help was Carlo N. He gave me one of my best experiences with a customer service representative. I turned my car in a before it was due back. A few hours later on in the day, I looked at my account it said that it was still late. I had to call customer service I had the opportunity to speak with Carlos N. Not only did he send me a link for me to put in my information (my pictures) he followed up with me after. Once the transaction was completed ( a few hours later) I received an invoice including a late fee and charges for the day. I didn't want to go back through customer service so I decided to email Carlos N with a screenshot of the said invoice. Along with a screenshot of the pictures I sent to the owner of the car. He replied to me that he is going to escalate the problem. He did he left me a voicemail saying that my issue has been solved I have no more charges. He also sent me an email saying the same thing just in case I didn't check my voicemail. I had a great experience. I will definitely use Hyre Car to rent again.

Had an issue with HyreCar yesterday

Had an issue with HyreCar yesterday. Their system for some reason is showing incorrect information. The renter was two days late but their system showed her as paid up and in good status. I contacted them about it and the first person I contacted (via chat) said I should contact the driver myself. I was furious, I asked "what good would it do for me to call the driver if your system is showing her rental is in good status?"

The second person I talked to (via phone) acknowledged that it was an issue and the system was incorrect. He transferred me to someone else (without telling them what the issue was, so I had to explain and convince a 3rd person that the data was incorrect). The third person also acknowledged the system was incorrect and said he would create a ticket to have tech support correct the issue. I requested the ticket number, he said he didn't have one yet because he was still working on creating the ticket. Said he would email me the information.

Never received an email and the issue is still not fixed. Very unprofessional service. The guy I spoke with on chat said he would need to end the chat because his WiFi was messing up. The guy I spoke with via phone, you could tell he was at home because his dog was barking in the background.

Then I found all the negative review on trustpilot and the better business bureau. Seems like a lot of people have been having issues with this company. In conclusion, I don't plan on putting any more vehicles on HyreCar. They suck!

Hyrecar is not the company to list your vehicle.

Hyrecar is not the company to list your vehicle with. Hyrecar let's drivers owe you money and do nothing, i have different people owing me over a year and still not paid. hyrecar won't help with recovery of your car if a guest isn't returning besides them hounding you to go get your vehicle, hyrecarwont help when a driver damages your car but want you the owner to eat up up the charges. A driver returned my car with missing tire cover, the driver agreed to pay but hyrecar told her not to pay, what the hell. Another instance, I had a claim, the adjuster deducted the cost of my bumper cover. Drivers can go on tolls and not pay, hyrecar says that's the owners problem to collect from drivers. So many issues to write. HyreCar is not worth it.

Supervisor Daniel O kept me with Hyer Car

I’ll start with this, as a whole I felt like hyer car penalized me for someone crashing into me and leaving the scene. The entire ordeal happened in December. And my account is just getting unblocked. The only reason why I continue to rent from Hyer car is 1 particular supervisor that actually does his job and great at at. Daniel O is great and provides great customer service. His explanation of what would be happening today was simple. When in the last 3 months I couldn’t even get a customer service agent to tell me what’s going on.

RATING ZERO!!! DO NOT RENT FROM HYRECAR

If I could give zero I would! I lost 2 days of pay from Uber because HyreCar didn’t properly upload the vehicle documents so Uber suspended my account. I pay $2500 a month and was unable to ever reach a supervisor. The customer service is horrible. They do not have a relationship with any other rideshare program so it left me without work until I resolved the issue myself. DO NOT RENT FROM HYRE!!!

Update: I was advised a billing supervisor would give me a call today (3/20/2023) to process my refund for the days I was unable to drive due to their error and I have received no call yet.

Thank you for your review. HyreCar requires that all drivers have an active rideshare or gig account. We understand that vehicles may be driven for purposes beyond work, but the primary use should be for gig-related services. Most companies accept HyreCar rentals, so you can use the car for as many services as you'd like! This includes Uber, DoorDash, Postmates, Instacart, etc
