Absolutely horrible experience buying a…

Absolutely horrible experience buying a brand new Hyundai Elantra Hybrid SEL Sport. From almost every new Elantra having a misaligned hood to the dealership messing up my paperwork because they had to exchange the 1st damaged vehicle we bought. Hyundai America refuses to intervene and help make the situation right. I would simply like them to call the dealership and ask them to correct the paperwork but they deny help every time. I have been purchasing Hyundai’s since the 90’s and have has only good things to say about the company but I have lost all faith in the brand a really wish I had went with Honda or Toyota sad thing is despite the hood misaligned we actually love the car but the hate of our experience far exceeds how much we enjoy the car.

My husbands Ionic 6

My husbands Ionic 6 has been at the service department at red mc combs in san Antonio, tx for a month. They don't know when his car will be ready to be taken home. He is leasing his car. After two years the car has a battery issue. The car dealership will not loan him a car. Hyundai will not pay for my husband to rent a car.
Very bad service from the car dealership and Hyundai. 😡😡😡😡😡😡!!!!! Still at the car dealership waiting for the car to be repaired.

Customer service is JUST AWFUL- car unsafe.

Customer service is JUST AWFUL!
AVOID.

Problem with EV, and customer service just could not help. The car has SAFETY ISSUES, that an OS upgrade might fix. They eventually told me to Google Hyundai tech support and contact them.

Hyundai tech support first told me I needed a USB drive exactly 64GB, but their evidence said the opposite. Then, they claimed my OS was too old to upgrade, eventhough it was the version before the current one. Then, they said it was an issue for the Hardware team, but did not pass me on to them.

A few months of owning this junk and it’s still not safe. Thinking to take the hit and just sell it.

Hyundai USA= Dangerous Cars!!!

Hyundai USA is very much aware of a defect in a specific engine type. Instead of recalling the affected vehicles, they ignored the problem until the US government forced them to extend the warranty on potentially affected vehicles. FYI, it isn't just Hyundai vehicles, it also affects some Kia vehicles. The problem is so major, the typical 10 year, 100k mile warranty they're famous for, has been extended to the full life of the vehicle for this particular issue. It doesn't matter how many owners, how old, or the mileage if you own one of these cars and this particular problem occurs.

The real trouble happens if you have this issue and you go to Hyundai service. Many vehicles offer up little or no symptoms or warning, they just out of nowhere throw a rod or one day they just don't start. No check engine light, NOTHING. I am fortunate that the engine started knocking. We took the car elsewhere to have it looked at and they've seen this problem before, many times. They sent us to a Hyundai service location. We were told that this location gets on average 15 or more cars in for this problem every month! We were informed that since the vehicle still runs and doesn't have a check engine light, Hyundai will refuse to cover the engine replacement which is what the warranty requires. To avoid a $16000+ engine replacement on a car worth less than half that, we just need to keep driving it around until the check engine light comes on or the car throws a rod and the engine seizes! THIS SHOULD BE A FEDERALLY MANDATED RECALL, NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. I will never drive or trust Hyundai or Kia again!

I paid off my car on March 15th with Hyundai Motor Finance and been waiting on my title. I been told so many stories on where it was sent to instead of me, the lienholder and owner of car. Sometimes the stories change in two 2 hours after I check to see where they say they sent it, and that turns out to be not true. Don't finance with them at all costs unless you want piss poor service. Still waiting as of April 8th

Poor car and aftersales support

Poor car and aftersales support. Numerous faults since purchasing a brand new ioniq5.
Avoid buying the cars and going to this branch for fault checks.

Had to wait 2 months backlog for a diagnostics of a faulty grill on a car (ioniq5) under 5 year warranty.
We have no idea if issue has resolved but have evidence from AA report it did exist.
Arrived at the branch only to be told they will take prepayment and charge the costs to us despite having full proof of the issue and reporting the issue back in Feb.

Asked to speak to a manager and was refused

LIARS WHO DONT HONOR PROMISES

Title: Extremely Disappointed – Hyundai Refused to Honor Repurchase Offer & Ignored Lemon Law

I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with Hyundai Motor Corporation. I purchased a used 2012 Hyundai Sonata in 2017, and almost immediately, I started experiencing serious engine issues. My car would stall in the middle of the freeway, losing power completely, putting my life and my child’s life in danger. I took it in for multiple repairs, yet the problem was never fixed. Eventually, the car became completely undriveable, forcing me to turn it in at the dealership and take on the burden of purchasing another vehicle—something I was financially unprepared for.

In December 2021, Hyundai offered to repurchase my vehicle, acknowledging the issues I had faced. At the time, I was missing some paperwork, but they never gave me a deadline or expiration date for submission. I was also going through an extremely difficult period in my life, escaping an abusive relationship, which delayed my ability to complete the process.

Now that I have all the documents ready and have reached back out, Hyundai refuses to honor their offer, claiming I "ran out of time"—even though no deadline was ever mentioned in the original offer. To make matters worse, I recently found out that my car actually qualified under Lemon Law, meaning Hyundai was likely legally obligated to repurchase it, but they never informed me of this.

Under Lemon Law, I have four years from the date I discovered my car qualified as a lemon to take legal action, which means I am still well within my rights to pursue this case. Hyundai's attempt to deny my claim and ignore their legal responsibilities is completely unacceptable.

This experience has been absolutely horrible. Not only did Hyundai fail to fix my car, but they also strung me along with a repurchase offer only to revoke it with no valid reason. I am now stuck with the financial burden of another car payment that should never have been necessary in the first place.

Hyundai needs to take responsibility for their defective vehicles and stand by the offers they make to their customers. I will be exploring legal options to fight this, but I strongly urge others to think twice before trusting Hyundai with their business. This is NOT how a company should treat its customers!

I would NEVER buy a Hyundai again

I would NEVER buy a Hyundai again. My husband and I purchased a 2020 Pallisade and absolutely love the vehicle. However, it has been very EXPENSIVE. For a vehicle with an alleged excellent warranty, we have spent over $5300 on it. Be very careful about which dealership you chose for service. Also, be aware that there are not many dealerships. When we purchased the car, we had a dealership about 10 minutes away. They performed the maintenance without issue. Everything was very smooth and routine. After we moved, the closest dealership is 30 minutes away as long as you avoid rush hour traffic. Since then, here is always add on work “recommended” with routine maintenance, with the suggestion that the warranty will be voided if you don’t do the maintenance. My husband and I have purchased many new cars with warranties and we have never experienced such terrible coverage.

I advise you to look elsewhere if you…

I advise you to look elsewhere if you are ever in the market to buy a new vehicle. Hyundai Motor Company sold me a hyundai Sante fe with a faulty motor with known issues and would not repair or even meet me halfway on the motor repair. Instead of owning their poor product they claimed that I didn't do proper maintenance. I did submit proof of proper maintenance. And i was under the 100k mile warranty. They still refused to make it right. I will never buy another car from hyundai or any affiliates ever again and I will assure no one in my circle of friends or family does either. Shame on you for ripping me off.

Beware Of Loyalty Program

While I love the vehicles, the loyal lease end program and inspection are a total mess. I'm on my 6th Hyundai and as a loyal lease member they are trying to get me for $250 which I don't feel is correct for wear and use -- for a vehicle returned under mileage. The customer service is heartless on the phone. Horrible. I don't think I'll purchase again.

2022 Hyundai Sonata fuel injector problem

Had my car less than three years I have a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. My car has broken down four times because of the fuel injectors. Hyundai will not do anything for my car even though I complained I knew something was wrong since my first oil change. This is because it was not in repair for a motor issue four times within the first 18 months, even though it has been four times within the last year that they have had to replace my fuel injectors. Very unpleased with the company. Every two months in the shop and they are just waiting till they hit 60,000 miles so they don’t have to do anything for me anymore.

Don’t buy Hyundai. They’re junk

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Hyundai USA and the handling of the recall for my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. After receiving a recall notice for a paint defect, I expected prompt action and resolution. Instead, I’ve been met with constant delays, poor communication, and an unfair resolution process.

The recall letter came after my warranty had expired, leaving me with no support or coverage when the issue was first identified. Despite my repeated attempts to reach out to Hyundai USA for assistance, it took over a year for them to provide any meaningful response. This is completely unacceptable for a company that claims to stand behind its vehicles.

Now, after finally being contacted, Hyundai has offered to cover only 60% of the cost to repair the defect, leaving me to cover the remaining 40%—even though this is clearly a manufacturer’s defect and no fault of my own. It is frustrating and disappointing that Hyundai, a company I trusted when purchasing the car, is now placing the burden of their mistake on me.

I expected more from a company that prides itself on customer satisfaction and quality. Unfortunately, this experience has been a major disappointment, and I will think twice before purchasing another Hyundai vehicle in the future.

2022 Hyundai Palisade oil consumption issue

I purchased a 2022 Palisade with a 100k powertrain warranty when I was CAO for a company. I left the company and kept the vehicle. The vehicle has a defect that may require an expensive engine replacement, and Hyundai will not honor the warranty even though I was the original purchaser, my signature was on the purchase documents, and I have had the vehicle in my possession since delivery. Friends, don't purchase a vehicle from Hyundai.

I owned a 2013 elantra with 61,000 miles on it and decided to take it in for recall work... the engine had a little tick to it but it was driveable, so since it fell under the guidelines of the class action lawsuit for premature detonation of the engine I asked them to look at it. Four days later after getting horrible customer service I decided I was gonna pick it up and trade it in, my car was not driveable when I went to get it with no more miles on it than when I dropped it off. I was told the mechanic looked at it and verified it needed an engine. Ended up getting a loaner that they tried to charge me for when I brought it back when I was told that wouldn't cost me anything... I ended up having to partially pay for a repair that fell under a class action lawsuit and was told "I hope to never see you again when I picked my car up." Wish granted I drove that car 20 miles and traded it in on a newer vehicle at a very good dealership that actually cares about it's customer... will never purchase a hyundai ever again, can't trust a company that doesn't stand by its product

We've bought 6 Hyundai's. Never again!!

My husband and I have been loyal Hyundai owners since 2007. We've purchased 6 Hyundai's over the years. Hyundai just lost us as customers because they refused to accommodate us on a title addendum. We needed to add our college student to the title of one of our vehicles so we could insure him with the vehicle out of State from where we live. Hyundai told us we needed to refinance the car where we would lose the extended warranty or the person on the title had to die! We talked to several financial institutions and they informed us there's is no issue in doing addendums to titles as they are done all the time. We feel Hyundai is doing this just so they can get out of the extended warranty on the car. This is so egregious. They no longer deserve our loyalty. 18 years of loyalty and they treat us this way is intolerable. Loyalty not returned. Bye bye Hyundai!
