We encountered an unexpected situation during our vacation—a connecting flight delay (Amsterdam-Mexico City) that forced us to depart the next day. According to the IATI policy we purchased, we were supposed to receive "compensation of up to €180 plus coverage for all expenses (hotel, food, and beverages)." Sounds reassuring, right? Well, you get nothing from them in the end.
We contacted IATI, provided all the required documentation as requested, and then... silence. It’s been over a month now, and we've heard absolutely NOTHING. They’ve stopped responding to our emails entirely. No updates, no compensation, no reimbursement—just blatant disregard for their obligations.
We’ve used IATI 5-6 times before across Europe, Asia, and America, but clearly, this company only works if you don't actually need to file a claim. It’s devastating to realize that after years of being a loyal customer since 2016, they would treat us with such disrespect and indifference.
Don’t make the mistake of trusting IATI with your travel insurance. They are neither professional nor reliable.

I had an acute sinusitis during December 2023/January 2024 abroad in Indonesia and toothache. The insurance company made sure that I didn't have to pay anything in advance. Communication in my case was by email. It went smoothly. I asked when there were two minor unclear situations. The questions were answered. So far I am very satisfied. I have now taken out insurance with IATI again, for the fourth time.

Horrible insurance. We got it because it is one of the few that offer support in the mountains over 4000m.
Our luggage was delayed for 2 days, we got the offici letter from the airline, but Iati refuses to pay us anything, because they day we do not have receipts of the first necessities we had to buy. Pity that a worldwide insurance does not know that the majority of the countries in the world are cash economies and stores do not print any receipt.
They are extra slow in answering the emails you send them.
They have a Spanish phone number to call for assistence while abroad, but who can afford paying a call to a spanish number?
They are extra slow in refunding the medic expenses, plus they allow you to go only to certain clinics and not to any random hospital you chose or that is available in your vicinity.

Been using them for years since they have good prices. First time I ever entered a claim for the reimburment for purchases since the airline lost my bag. They took my claim, etc, all well, then made a one sides conclusion on the documentation I gave, arguing my bag reached before I purchased items (which was not the case), so they rejected my claim. This was after insisting on getting an answer. In the end they just stopped answering emails, so all in all, not a trustworthy company and in Spain it seems there isn't a simple way to complain to a goverment agency about the illegal practices by the company.
Edit: Do not pay attention to their response, they have unilaterally rejected my claim with no evidence, disregarding information given to me by phone when the incidente just happened to not give me coverage later. IATI Seguros are scammers who will not pay out, check out other reviewers online, they all say the same, go with any other insurance company but them. They reject you with just an email saying rejected, no evidence, no channel to fight their response. Just a conclusion based on incorrect information, so either they are incompetent and can't tell the difference between purchasing, delivery and invoice dates or they use any flimsy excuse to reject claims.

We had an accident in Mexico in February 2024 and IATI has paid for the hospital partly. But for another part that we have paid ourselves we are still waiting compensation. It's been 3 months and our case still is pending. Moreover they doesn't even response my emails.

It is not possible to evaluate an insurance before using the services, when an accident occurs. I hope never know if the services are really good but the question seems very strange when it is done before the trip.
The procedure to contract the insurance works very well, but that isn’t a service.
I suggest that you only put this kind of queries to the clients that, unfortunately, have done a claim.

I am trying to contact the insurance company because of an urgent request to cancel the trip, and they gave me an email, that email says to send to another and this email to another. In other words, no one addresses the issue! It doesn't do me any good to have insurance that when I need it, no one responds!
