It has been about a month since I took my field training class instructed by Floyd Gibbs, March 20th-29th. To say I enjoyed the class is an understatement, as after taking this course I now have cemented what my future career path will be. I am in my early 20s, upon coming into the class i quickly realized my lack of experience compared to the others taking the course, most double my age and much further along in life than me. Off this face value I thought this was something that I maybe jumped too quickly into. Very quickly my mindset was changed.
Floyd’s teaching style was interactive and real world, working well with his energetic and get-at-it personality. It encouraged engagement and he very quickly built a culture of connectivity and open discussion allowing us to get full understanding of both the standards of the learning/class side and the hands-on field training. This greatly benefited me, I know for a fact i spoke to every person in the class and was able to discuss and learn from all of them, the engagement and group support that was built was great. The confidence and passion I had for this industry and to make it a career path was cemented by the end of the class.
Even the online modules for the 120-hours are put in such a way that is easily-accessible and well-formatted, so you can easily go back and review modules and taking practice tests on whatever you want, whether it be a practice test for the exam itself or just on one of the industrys.
Even after a month, the groupchat from all the guys has still been active, with questions and support still coming in for each other everyday as many have already passed the exam and have gotten their licenses. Floyd has still been engaging, answering questions, and giving support everyone. That is not your typical one and done teacher, 100% more of a mentor. As someone who never liked school this is a class I wont forget. Floyd and Sandra Gibbs make a great team.

7 days of mind blowing information drilled into my brain by one of the most intelligent humans on this planet!!! Clint Laney is hands down the best teacher/instructor I've ever had. The material and how it was delivered was spot on PERFECTION!! I will recommend him and this course a trillion times. Moving forward now with the confidence to take on being a master inspector. Thank you Clint!!!

This is only day 2 but wanted to say how beneficial this course has been so far. Looking forward to the rest of the class and going on our field day.

Tom the instructor was fantastic and well versed, i feel like i learned a lot and grew my confidence greatly! Im now looking forward to getting started as soon as possible!

The course has a lot of good information. I like how everything is explained thoroughly and very easy to follow. Although I completed the course I still go back and go over some modules.

I was able to talk to SANDRA GIBBS on phone yesterday from Carolina she helped me out alot and positive feedback. She really cares about her students we talked on phone for a long bit and wasn't in a hurry to get off of phone she was very polite and full of confidence for me. She's definitely the one you want to talk to if in need and I'm glad she reached out to me. To help me move further in the course of home instructors. It's always been something on my bucket list of a career at a younger age and now I was able at 52 to try and make that happen. Stars finally lined up for me. At least I get the opportunity to try and lord willing I'll succeed moving forward towards that goal

The NC Home Inspection course that I attended on 3/20-3/29 in Raleigh was absolutely life changing! Floyd and Sandra Gibbs did an awesome job of breaking down the various SOPs, and terminology that helped make it easier to comprehend and grasp. I really liked how Floyd reinforced the theory in the modules with “real world” examples to add visualization to the lessons. His teaching style encouraged participation, and always provoked thought leadership and confidence. He and Sandra are a “class act”, and a great team! All of the additional reference materials, such as the study guides that Sandra provided were priceless when preparing for the daily quizzes. I highly recommend this course for anyone seeking a career in the Home Inspection business, or if you want a better understanding, and increase your knowledge on how to properly maintain and protect your home investment.

I chose ICA because I needed a change. I spent my entire adult life in the military, and the running joke has always been, “I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.” Over time, that started to feel true. After years of deployments and constant high-adrenaline environments, it can be hard to readjust to what “normal” is supposed to feel like, and I found myself in a slump.

My wife builds homes, so I wanted to better understand what she does while also developing a new skillset for myself. What I wasn’t prepared for was the experience I would have with Floyd Gibbs.

Throughout my career, I’ve been part of some outstanding training programs, but this class set a new standard. Floyd and his wife Sandra bring a level of knowledge and real-world experience that’s hard to match. Their combined 40+ years in the industry are exactly what make ICA—and especially their class—stand out above the rest.

I’ll be honest—I ask a lot of questions, and sometimes my immature side shows more than it should. But Floyd never missed a beat. He met every question with patience, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help me understand. At no point did I feel stuck or unsupported; if something didn’t make sense, we worked through it until it did.

I can’t thank Floyd and Sandra enough for the time, effort, and passion they put into this course. They don’t just teach—you can tell they truly care about setting their students up for success.

If you’re considering getting into home inspection, this is the class to take. It didn’t just give me knowledge—it gave me direction and confidence moving forward.

I have been in local government for over twenty years we are always training and I can say this is the best training I’ve ever had. Floyd was passionate about his profession, caring and took the time to actually teach thanks to Floyd Gibbs his wife Sandra, ICA, and Quality home inspections for preparing me properly for my next career I’m confident in my training.

The website was easy to navigate and investigate.
The proximity to my home.
The real in the field work, not just a warehouse with mocked -up scenarios.
The online courses were full of good educational material.
I had to reschedule my field training and they made it simple, one email and it was taken care of. This school is easy to work with.

Once in the class for field training you really get the skills and information that is going to help shape you as a great, caring home inspector. The group of folks you share this journey with learn and grow as inspectors and you can really see the transformation from your first day in class to your last home inspection in the field.

Floyd Gibbs is an excellent instructor who not only teaches the curriculum but also shares his years of experience through, often times, comical but always educational stories. He instills the theory of really caring about your client and their new purchase.

Patrick Hardy was my instructor. He made grasping everything very easy. He was very helpful by breaking things down and answering any questions straight forward and thoroughly and he had a lot of helpful information from his own experience in the field. I would definitely recommend the course for anyone looking to get pre-licensed in your state.

Patrick is very knowledgeable and help and resourceful. He’s the best instructor I’ve ever dealt with professionally. I would recommend him again again and again.

I went into the 80 hour training with a fair amount of doubt in my mind about my abilities in relation to becoming a Home Inspector. Over the last 10 days, Floyd and Sandra have not only given the knowledge to be a great Home Inspector, but confidence in myself as well. Floyd went above and beyond to help each person in my class grow and be the best they can be. He didn't just focus on "teaching the Test", he focused on helping us build our confidence and our knowledge. From day one of class, Floyd and Sandra made me feel like family. Spending time in the military, I have had my fair share of classroom instruction. The ICA class was very informative and had great instruction. It is perfect for a new beginner in the industry wanting to know more and seeing how it’s done step-by-step. I would highly recommend taking the class.

I started a few weeks ago. I’m glad i went with ICA. I am halfway through the first part of the course. I already learned so much.
I still have a lot left to learn. But there is no doubt that on the right track to becoming a Home Inspector.
