Food great, lousy service

Food great, customer care appalling.

During the recent snow Iceland cancelled my order and sent me a discount code for my next order, which didn't work when I tried to use it. I thought they had an IT problem because my email about it had been ignored and I hadn't got an order confirmation as I usually do, so I tried to use it the following day when I amended the order.

It didn't work so I emailed them again and was told that it had been invalidated because you can't amend your order... even though the terms and conditions clearly say that you can. What they were prepared to do was refund £5 if I rang them once my order had been delivered. I wasn't happy to be told I'd done it wrong when I had written proof I hadn't, so I emailed them again. They ignored it, so I cancelled my order and wrote to them. Two weeks later I got an answer which repeated the same claim that it was my fault the code didn't work and that it was too late for them to do anything because I'd cancelled my order after they'd ignored my email but they were sorry for causing me disappointment. They didn't mention the 2 emails they'd ignored, so presumably that's their standard practice

Now, I've still got that email. It's still, strangely enough, got the same terms and conditions on it that it had when I ordered. It may be that I did do something wrong, but it wasn't that and I don't like the way I've been treated.

just had the most horrible experience …

just had the most horrible experience of my life. i use Iceland on a regular basis and have always found their service to be the best. ive just however opened a pack of chicken and to say the smell was horrendous would be an understatement. my whole kitchen smells !!! ive thrown it away and when ringing the store i got asked to take it back to think they want me to go through my bin for the chicken breasts. how absurd..

Find the staff in the Albany Road store …

Find the staff in the Albany Road store so friendly and very helpful. Deliveries are always on time and the drivers are helpful and friendly. One of the friendliest stores I have ever used. Beats Tesco and Asda and morrisons by a mile. Great service Iceland keep up the good work.

Attitude of staff

in a shop on the isle of wight There was a product that i wanted to buy which was 2 for £2 but there was only one so i went to ask one of the staff and they had any more and they replied in a tone of voice which i didnt like and said that well if i had any then they would be out. This is disgusting the way i was treated and i don't think 13 year old kids should be talked to like this.

Iceland slimming world soup

Iceland slimming world soup

Just thought I would make customers aware of a potential problem with slimming world soup and its cooking instructions.
I purchased a frozen tub of slimming world soup (Tomato and basil). This was cooked as per the instructions on a microwaveable plate, however the tub must have been damaged (not apparent). The contents flowed out of the bottom of the container as it defrosted and cooked resulting in the soup flooding my microwave and the turntable motor this tripped the house electrical supply to the sockets.
I contacted Iceland customer services and made them aware of the problem, I also suggested they should change the instructions to say stand in a microwaveable bowl to cook.
They apologised and said the best they could offer was a £20 voucher, this falls a little short of the £70 it cost me to replace my microwave with its current equivalent.

Getting worse

As a delivery driver i can tell you this company is getting worse, they take breaks off you which you never get and dock the pay for them. The delivery driver is supposed to have a pitman to make sure the deliveries are at the loading bay for the driver to load. This never happens and the driver has to wade through the deliveries which have different time slots to select the ones due for delivery at that time making the driver constantly late. Having to drag crates of shopping due to a lack of flat beds to build them on is also a violation of health and safety. And with the introduction of tracking devices now fitted the driver now has to driver like a snail and still be expected to get the deliveries done on time. No matter how many times these problems are forwarded to management it falls on deaf ears.. As for the cleanliness of the place just look behind the freezers and see loads of old outdated food items just lying there all rotten. The company is all front and have no regard for the workers. The podiums they have installed to work out delivery times is a joke too, they don't take into regard traffic jams or road works, were as the driver knows the reality of the times but still has the work load piled on and expected to get the job done on time. If the workers where treated fairly and the system reviewed to give a more clear understanding of problems then these problems would not exist thus improving the company instead of the slow degradation which is happening.. Get some real people in to oversee the work place instead of ones sitting round a table thinking they know what is best and making the problems worse. look after your workers instead of trying to scrimp and cut corners, The morale has disintegrated among your employee's and hence your company will suffer.

Would definitely recommend

I used to shop at Iceland a lot of years ago, but haven't been in one for a while (although I did enjoy the TV series about the management team). I placed my first online order with them this week and am very impressed. The driver arrived within the three hour slot (just), and everything I'd ordered was present in good condition with good use by dates. The frozen meals are excellent quality and size for the price - as a single person they're ideal and there's loads of choice so something for everyone. Free delivery only requires a £35 spend, although you do get loads for that much at these sort of prices so I'll probably end up ordering fortnightly. If I had to quibble, I'd prefer a one hour delivery slot as it's quite expensive having to stop work for three hours. I plan to order regularly though, and would definitely recommend Iceland.

excellent for single blokes too, not just for mums

im single and iceland is the ideal online supermarket for me. Has plenty of meals for one and cheap prices, 89p on average and their bigger than asda and tesco homemade meals for similar price. I can fill my fridge, freezer and cupboards here and i do a two week shop. brilliant company and always deliver on time. ( one time i missed their call and they came back within the hour after i rung them so i really have nothing to complain about at all) ..

Online food delivery made easy

Always arrive early or on time, all items accounted for and drivers very friendly. Never had a problem with ordering online. I do not do much of ordering online these days tho as the price went from £25 to £35 for home delivery, as i spend a small amount i do shopping in store most of the time now as its still spend £25. These shops tend to think only of familys on a large food budget i wish they thought more of small famillys with small budgets that are also house bound and do not drive - but not one has as of yet i live in hope. Anyway a good friendly place to shop, customer service staff always friendly and helpful when emailing them - staff in store often talk to each other whilst packing and scanning your shopping and when they do they make mistakes! so be careful and check items are all there.

Stay clear if you want more than 5 items

Went to local iceland store and purchased few items that I needed amongst which were 10 x 250g butter advertised as one per £1.00 and 2 for £1.50. Cashier told me I could only purchase 5 to which I agreed and my wife, who was with me could buy the other 5 but the cashier refused as she was with me, SHE was being treated as part of that transaction. Left all 10, and went across to ASDA and bought the required number for 85p each. Never been to that store since and don't intend to. It appears mums can go to iceland but only to do part of the shopping.
