Icerental 4x4 is an innovative car rental company specializing in 4x4 vehicles in Iceland. Founded in 2013, our family-owned business began with only 10 cars. Since then, Icerental 4x4 has grown a lot, with a big rental office near the Keflavik International Airport, where we offer a wide range of vehicles in all sizes and model years. Our passion is 4x4, and our fleet is based on quality 4x4 cars. However, we also provide vans and smaller vehicles to fulfill all your transportation needs while visiting Iceland. In 2014 we started with our Camper Jeep, offering Jeeps to camp in while exploring the highlands. This idea evolved into Roof Tent campers, and in 2017, we introduced our Roof Tent vehicles in various sizes. These are the perfect way to explore Iceland during the summertime—our 4x4 Roof Tent vehicles allow you to see the highlands and Iceland’s untouched nature. We at Icerental 4x4 are committed to offering the best quality 4x4 vehicles at reasonable rates. We believe in personal service based on building relationships with our customers.

Small Suzuki suitable for the Icelandic route. The roof tent is comfortable. There are too many clauses, which we weren't informed of beforehand despite having platinum insurance.
Good an kind communication with car problems and other things around the rental.
The transfer server at arrival and departure is a valuable service offered. The car was as expected and in good condition. check-in was quick as well as checkout.
It’s raining in our tent. It completely ruined our trip to Iceland. Don’t trust them, it’s a scam. They are dishonest. We ended up sleeping in the car. they don’t care about us.
Stay away from this rental car company or Check24!!!
I was charged €2,400 for a small dent in the door (which I didn't even notice), and the employee assured me that the money would be transferred back after three weeks. But the money hasn't been returned (it's been three months), and Check24's supplemental insurance doesn't cover it either, "despite a €0 deductible with a 100% refund"!!! Please don't trust these employees; they're just out to rip you off and rip you off! Who knows how many times they've done this, ripping off customers who thought they were adequately insured because of a small, inconspicuous dent! Sorry, never again Icerental4x4; never again Iceland, or never again Check24/Aurum Cars!!!
The pickup/shuttle from the airport was a bit chaotic, but the vehicle handover was quick, and the advice was service-oriented and good. The car smelled a bit musty (over 130,000 km on the clock), the windshield wiper blades weren't working properly, and one of the dipped beam bulbs was broken. Otherwise, the car was technically sound and performed flawlessly.
DO NOT RENT A ROOF TENT HERE! Vacation ruined, 8 days in the water, forced to sleep in the car. No assistance, no offer to replace the tent or provide a refund. SCAM!
IT RAINS INSIDE THE ROOFTENT
AFTER 3 DAYS OF COMPLAINING, THEY KEEP KIDDING US AND THEY DON’T GIVE A SHOT OF US. BE AWARE, DON’T TRUST THEM
We thank the icerental4x4 team for their service. We were met in an aeropot and taken to the main office, where we were able to pick up our car We rented a Dachia Duster with a tent on the roof. The tent had a mattress and 2 pillows. Driving on dirt roads made itself felt and the tent moved a little backwards, but after contacting the office, we were quickly directed to the city, where the master attached a tent and it did not move again. There were no other problems with the car!
The return of the car passed quickly and we were taken back to the airport.
We waited more than one hour at the terminal to get the shuttle. Then everything was going quite quickly. The only negative thing was the expensive Iceland insurance against sand and gravel (234€), but maybe this is a problem of the agency in Germany.
Very good customer service and check in/ check out was fast and fluid.
The Processing to take over and return the car was really fast and the empolyees wäre competent and friendly. We received the booked car and the car was Ok.
This is a fun and unique experience to try. Our guide was friendly and informative. Though there are things that people should know:
1. No bathrooms at cave site. That means no bathroom for 3-4 hours once you leave the meet up area.
2. Though the walking is pretty easy. At most 1/2 mile total. You will be walking on wet ice. If you are not stable on your feet, this will be challenging. Even with the ice cleats.
3. It is wet and cold at the cave site. Wear waterproof everything. Including gloves.
4. Limit your expectations. Especially if you’re doing this in the summer. The actual ice cave is pretty small.
Transfer to/from the airport worked fine.
Rental process easy and quick.
Car was quite old (178000 km) but clean and it did it's job.
Check-in was too rushed and unclear. We had booked a Subaru 4x4 and were given a Suzuki 2x4, saying it wasn't suitable for the F-roads. Android Auto didn't work (stated at check-in), the brakes were worn, and the right windshield wiper was broken. The lady at check-out was very kind.
It was all good, although it was a really old car. It worked fine, but it was squeaking a lot and the brakes were at the end of their life. And I have to put a bit of a minus on the communication. I tried calling twice and nobody answered. A Email question was answered hours later.
The staff, however was really friendly. Overall I can recommend them and I would rent there again.
