Shoes are incorrectly sized. I wear an 10.5 UK/11.5 US in many brands of shoes. To date, I have had 5 pairs of Inov8 shoes that were all 10.5 UK/11.5 US. So, I ordered the new Trailfly in the same size. Unfortunately, what arrived is far too small. How hard is it to keep consistent sizes? The whole purpose of sizes is to have a standard. In response to Inov8's reply, I measured the insoles of my Trailfly and my Roclite 320. Both are currently for sale, and the sizing guide says the sizes should match. But the Trailfly is a centimeter shorter than the Roclite. Please use the same sizing, so that people are able to safely order your shoes.

Well made shoe. Traction is good on mixed terrain and protects well from gravel / rocks but keeps the feel for the trail for single track. No friction points and so far enjoy taking the shoe out on the trail.

Value because it was on sale half off. Woot!! Frankly, I first thought i was purchasing the trailfly ultra g 280, which I chose based on a little research and a few review videos. According to the reviews, the 280 was a closer comparison to the hoka speedgoat. I had just hit 508 miles on my hoka challengers, which by recommendation, running shoes should be replaced every 350-500m. So, when i found this model at half off (i'm on a strict budget when it comes to running shoes), i was like score! After a few long runs, i started to notice the mm drop (6mm) which almost seemed like a zero drop based on the previous zero drop models i was running in (mainly the Altra) - the 280 has an 8mm drop verses this model with a 6mm (very minor differences). Sure enough, the model i ended up purchasing was this one w/ slightly different specs than the 280. Still, 44 miles later i am very pleased w/ this purchase, aside from the sale. It is a lower drop, doesn't feel like i'm running on a spongy springy ground - the hokas are in fact more cushioned but honestly a little too much after having my challengers for so long. I used to run w/ zero drop shoes & less cushion which was perfect for the type of running i do. I want to feel the terrain i am running under especially on trails. A low drop or neutral shoe also trains you to adopt a much better, more natural running gait (which you have to work toward - i would definitely not recommend going from say 12mm drop to a zero drop to avoid injuries). I am not sure this particular model is a road to trail shoe but that is the big majority of my runs and so far this shoe has hit the mark. Still, i'm wondering if i should get the 280 at some point which yes LOL. Once there is a good deal/sale on that model i will definitely pull the trigger. I highly recommend this model to those who are seeking a road to trail with lower drop and still just the right amount of support/cushion but not over the top like the hokas for those road runs before the trails. PS. this model also came in a wide EE toe box option which was an added plus! The regular D size is a bit tight for my feet.

My favorite trail shoes I've encountered yet, and possibly the best value you'll find in a trail shoe overall. I've run in the Hoka Mafate Speed 4, Altra Experience Wild, Altra Timp 5, and North Face Vectiv Infinite 2, and the only shoe I've actually ended up sticking with is the Trailfly. It seemingly combines the best aspects of the aforementioned shoes (the nimble/fast feel of the Mafate, the foot shape/roomy toe box of the Altras, the slightly lower stack height/better ground feel of the Vectiv) while avoiding their pitfalls (cramped toe box in the Mafate, durability/longevity issues with the Altras, lack of responsiveness/dynamism of the Vectiv). Inov8 really nailed the foot shape and underfoot feel of this one - snug heel and midfoot with a roomy toe box is perfect (at least in the 'standard' width, I can't speak for the 'wide'), and the midsole and Boomerang insole complement each other perfectly, with the former providing firm, focused ground feel while the latter provides a subtle softness and lot of flexibility, responsiveness and energy return that are crucial when my runs dip into the longer range (i.e. 1 hour plus). The stack height of this shoe (total actual stack height as opposed to what Inov8 lists is actually about 29/23 mm) is also perfect IMO - high enough to provide adequate cushion while low enough to provide good ground feel. These shoes have also held up surprisingly well in rain and snow. I initially thought I might need to snag a pair of Mudtalons or Trailtalons to deal with the oncoming Wisconsin winter, though so far these shoes have held up just fine as fall turns to winter here. My only cons: heel lock is not great in this shoe (a runner's loop helped with this to some degree), so I've occasionally had hot spots in my heel, and as a shallow, vain American, I can't help but comment on the near total lack of style points in this shoe, of which Inov8 will win none. However, I'll cut them some slack here and say that I do like the white colorway - holds up surprisingly well while still letting the trails paint them enough to get 'em a little dirty. Overall, I'm amazed at how underrated Inov8 seems to be in the US, and this shoe should be in the conversation re: the best value/option for a daily trainer that can hold its own in longer efforts if needed.

Have only used a couple times so far for short outings, very well made shoe. I got the wide version but it is still a little tight on the instep, maybe should have gone up a half size. But overall first impressions are favourable.

These shoes are a wonderful addition to my running collection. As testament to the great fit, my first proper run (2x 3km road runs in mid week) was a 55km trail run through the coastal peninsula of the Gower area in Swansea. They tackled mud, rock, sand and dunes with ease. There's was no issues with me feet after, no blisters, no damaged toenails. All very good I managed to pick them up in a black Friday sale and I'm so happy I'm buying a second pair for the future!!

I went for the Wide Version because I have very wide feet. The toebox is indeed very wide and leaves plenty of room for the toes, thus avoiding hitting the tip of th shoe and losing one's nails after long downhills. The fit around the instep is still quite snug. Only negative point is that the heelcup is rubbing against the heel, causing blisters (which I never had in my 5-6 years of running, even with various models from Inov8). Otherwise great comfort, good but not excessive cushioning. Overall a great shoe!

Love the wide fit that accommodates my feet much better than most other brands. Unfortunately however, despite the great fit width wise, I get an unacceptable level of heel-slip that no amount of clever lacing can remedy. On top of this, I'm struggling with the textured insole which creates hotspots and blisters, not sure why it needs that texture. Midsole is incredibly dense, but I think that's a matter of taste, some people like that, not necessarily a flaw. Up until this point I've done most of my trail running in Altra Lone Peaks, and I was hoping these would be somewhat similar, but with some drop that would be a bit more forgiving on my short calves. They are in some ways, but I just can't go more than 10k in them without developing blisters. This shoe was very close to perfect in some ways, and very far from it in others. They will probably be consigned to gym duty sadly and the search will continue! If these fit your feet, then great value for money and solidly built, but I'd recommend trying some on first as the heel slip issue seems to be a semi-consistent theme among others I've spoken to.

Comfortable shoes with good grip. In wide, the fit is very good, half a size with orthopedic insole is enough. With regard to durability, it's too hard to judge

As someone with wide feet, finding a comfortable trail shoe is always a challenge. Surprisingly, the regular (non-wide) version of this shoe fit perfectly. I recently put them to the test on a trail run with 20+ water crossings, and they performed flawlessly. The shoes drain water quickly, keeping my feet from feeling waterlogged. On top of that, they handled muddy trails with ease, providing excellent grip and stability throughout. Highly recommended for anyone tackling wet and rugged terrain!

Bought as it was recommended as having a wide toe box. I did order a size bigger just in case, instead of my uk size 8, I ordered a size 9. However it was still tight on the 9. It may loosen up with use, but would probably try a 9.5 size, if buying again. Still, it is a lovely shoe and if I cover my two big toes with silicone covers everything is fine. It’s just that I bought them to avoid using toe covers due to the amount of sweat that irritates both feet.

I have ugly feet (narrow heel, wide at mid- and forefoot), and it's a real challenge to find any shoe that fits. Typically I wear a EU 44 or US 10 in wide -- I purchased these in a EU44/US 10.5 in Wide, and they were just a touch small compared to typical sizing but fit much better than, e.g., the Roclites. Excellent traction and stability, sufficient support throughout for me (though not huge amount of arch support, and volume is low so would be a challenge to substitute another insole). Using for general walking and light hiking, and I really like this shoe (run in Hoka Gaviota 5, US10/EU44). Only real gripe is that heel isn't held in place well, likely due to several factors, though much better than the Roclite low version I wore for a few weeks. In short, solid shoe looking for just a little improvement on heel lockdown.

I have been using Inov8 shoes (Roclite 275 V1 and V2, Roadclaw and TrailFly Ultra) to run for many years and many thousands of miles on tough cliff paths. I was excited to try out the new TrailFly as it was designed for a wider foot and hard rocky trails so I bought a set and have now completed 3 runs of about 10km each in different weather conditions. My overall impression is one of great disappointment. The shoes have several good features, the wide toe box is brilliant, although the heel is a bit sloppy, that said adding a heel lock using the laces resolved this, although the lace is very short if using the heel lock. The underfoot protection is also good but at the cost of the connectivity with the track which is a feature I love about the Roclite 275s. What is not acceptable is the grip, to be frank this sucks. In the last three runs I have slipped more than I have slipped in the last 9-10,000km using the Roclites. I really dislike this as I am running at speed on cliff edges using a shoe designed for hard rocky surfaces, which is the terrain I am covering. I will not be buying TrailFly again and will revert to using one of my older sets of Roclites until I am able to save enough to buy a new pair of Roclites. Switching to TrailFly was a big mistake and I regret having bought into the totally unwarranted hype.
