These shoes have great grip and are super comfy. The only issue I have is that they sit a bit low on my ankle, however this may change once they are worn in more (have only done 3 or so runs in them).

I really want to love these trainers but they seem to have a fundamental flaw. The toebox is perfect and the fit is pretty good. What is going on with the heel?! It’s too low and doesn’t fully cover my heel, which causes slipping. No amount of lace tightening or race lacing seems to stop it. If they were just a cm higher, they’d be spot on. Unfortunately after much deliberation, I returned them. I hope the V2 will be better. This is also not an isolated issue in the trail running community. Lots of people having the same issue and either returning them or unable to wear them.

I hiked 17 days straight on the PCT this past summer with the TrailFly. Pluses: The treads held up superbly. They were very comfortable, although I wore orthotics so maybe not a true test. The toes only had minor wear, no holes, and only minor abrasions. They dried quickly. Minuses: the heel foam completely compressed on my right side where I pronate significantly. It ended up being the death of the shoe but I got through the hike, then trashed them, with a small farewell ceremony.

I joined the INOV8 tribe 14 years ago when I did my first 70.3 I had been struggling with a few niggles and someone recommended INOV8 and I have never looked back. You think after so many years of using the same brand, you would experience one set of shoes or model that disappoints, but each new model brought out, just gets me more excited. Brilliant shoe, brilliant brand. I wear my INOV8s proudly!

I love love these shoes, and really wanted to keep running with them. The responsiveness and ground feel are amazing. BUTTT....the heal just does not hold up. Specially on steep climbs. I ordered eventually 3!! Pairs - my size, half a size smaller, and the women's version - and the problem was in all of them. So after a month I had to say goodbye to all 3 pairs. I hope inov8 will do better in the upcoming versions, because potentially they could have been my favourite shoes.

I have yet to actually wear these, but I just wanted to note that the sizing is kind of confusing and inconsistent. I purchased a pair of F-Lites a few months ago (albeit from a third party) and they were true to size (6.5wide). When buying these, I went up a half size (as recommended) to 7wide and they were WAY too small. I had to do some trial and error (and pay for the returns) until I finally found a size that fit. I ended up with 8wide (1 1/2 sizes larger than my usual shoe size). I compared the trailflys (blue) to my f-lites (white) and they were essentially the same, with the Trailflys being only marginally larger (see attached pictures). Other than that, I look forward to testing these in the next few weeks, since I’ve been enjoying my other inov8 shoes so far.
