The gym in city centre is very disorganised weights are everywhere people just hogging up equipment. However, the one in Llanishen is far nicer and well kept.

I first visited this gym March 2023 and one of the lifts didn't work so had a massive asthma attack due to 6 flights of stairs. 15 months later, both are out of order. Spoke to the staff and they are clueless.
Went to the toilet to find both soap dispensers out of order. Machines out of order, I really dislike this gym. I visit the area around 4x a year and while the location is good and easily accessible, the lack of lifts renders ANY disabled person unable to go in. Very shoddy.

One of the best experience of my life..the staff is v cooperative great equipments..one thing that I miss is they dnt play loud music..it would be better if they play the music loud so the workout turns out to b better 😁

Lots of unrespectful people banging weights and not taking them off the machines, leaving empty bottles everywhere, unracked and unorganised dumbells, shouting and wearing flip-flops with the STAFF inoperability... Not a quite confortable place to workout honestly.

Good gym and equipment. However poorly maintained and little gym etiquette followed e.g. weights frequently left around the gym members working out straight from rack etc. A bit of extra management/ policing of rules would make this a good gym.

Lot of equipments and more space to enjoy the workout…

The interior fittings are smart and the women's changing rooms are spotless. The music is great and so is the volume, and the free Wi-Fi works. The machines are decent - I wish the cardio machines were the sort with large screens where you could watch videos, but they're still not bad.
However, the gym only gets a two star rating because of the stairs. You're required to climb several flights of winding stairs to get in and out. It's bad enough when you've done a leg workout, but I also have a bad fear of heights and find accessing the gym very difficult for this reason, and I don't like borderline having a panic attack every time I want to go to the gym.
There are two lifts in the lobby, except they're both out of order and look as though they've been that way for a while, as though management can't be bothered to get them fixed. I'm debating cancelling my membership for this reason.
Also I don’t see how they can get away with it from an inclusivity and accessibility point of view, because anybody with a physical disability is immediately unable to use the facilities.

Cardiff City Centre gym equipment are far too old, needs a change, also all cleaning equipment has been removed, customers should still be able to wipe down benches and machines before use.

Worth the subscription. Instructors are very helpful. However could do better with the space. More people signing up everyday.
Overall, i am happy it's working for me.

Lots of cardio machines
Toilets rarely have toilet roll or soap. Gross
Staff not very nice or engaging. They all seem like they don't wanna help. Maybe it's because I don't use classes or personal trainers ?

I signed up for JD Gyms in Cardiff City centre as my local Simply Gym was due to close and JD Gyms were offering a month’s free membership and a transfer for former Simply Gym members. I changed my mind and tried to cancel on 31 March as it’s not practical for me to visit the city centre gym on a regular basis and would prefer to use the JD Gym at Llanishen. I submitted the form and received an automated e-mail directing me to a webpage on the JD Gyms website which no longer exists. I have not received anything since. I have also visited the gym in person. Waited around for 20 minutes but there weren’t any staff available to help me. I just want to cancel this membership at the Cardiff city centre gym so I can join at a different JD gym but I am unable to do so.

The gym itself is good and well equipped, however, the location is not ideal.
There is no parking available and feels unsafe in the surrounding areas walking to and from the gym

Not clases in the morning, some machines out or order and not a routine to follow

Good gym, nice equipments.
The issue is, there is not enough handles to use in the gym and only one paid of handles only available which are always being used by someone meaning, need to wait long time be able to use them and waste so much time during the training

Excellent value for money, super friendly staff. Good quantity and quality of equipment

there's a strict policy of only being able to enter the gym with a QR code which lead to me being stuck in there at past 1AM because the QR code for the door would not release me. I was only able to exit the gym thanks to another user. There is no provision whatsoever for those who are not completely beholden to their smartphones, this is heavily discriminatory. There are bikes chained to the bannisters of the stairs going up to the gym despite notices that they will be removed, and the lift does not work. All these things lead to a gym that is completely unfriendly to disabled visitors and so my partner has been unable to attend with me despite paying her membership. Direct emails to the manager about these issues go unanswered.

I normally don't give bad reviews but this is a must
The sauna in men's changing rooms smells like urine the smell is very bad.
All the changing rooms smell like it has been cleaned the floor with a very dirty or old mop.
