The gym is great and everything it's clean as well but the thing is only that the lift is under maintenance for like 2 weeks now other than that the Gym is perfect

I've been going to this gym for five months now, and I can honestly say it's the best one I've ever been to. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which makes a big difference. I really enjoy the classes and the overall vibe of the place. I love that it's open 24 hours, and having a sauna is a fantastic bonus. The only downside is that the equipment is a little dated and the lift is currently out of order, but other than that, this gym is fantastic.

The only reason I still attend this gym is because of the sauna and the convenient location. There aren’t enough plates for the machines meaning everyone tried to steal from others mid sets. They are way over capacity creating a stressful and crowded environment instead of a peaceful one. It’s hard as a women to feel safe especially with the male members of staff entering the women changing rooms without warning late into the evening. I myself was not dressed and a male member of staff entered without warning or proper precaution. He was aware of my uncomfortable presence but still said no word as he emptied the bins. I went to warn other women in the shower/sauna area who had felt comfortable enough to remove hijabs/ other clothing items. It became a serious situation which would’ve been easily avoided. The facilty is poorly organised but due to constant busy times, the staff have no chance to organise/clean thoroughly.
I would highly recommend other sites over the Cardiff city centre facility or other companies altogether.

Is anyone responding even to the emails in this place? I have been trying to cancel my membership and I still have not get any respond.

The actual gym has a nice vibe. The music isn't too loud and staff are helpful.
The only issue I've encountered is with bathroom maintenance. It seems like bathrooms are not regularly stocked up on things like hand-wash and aren't cleaned throughout the day either?
It would make the experience a lot better if these things were kept up with.
Other than that, I've been enjoying my gym sessions with JD.

The gym is quite small, and unfortunately, the toilet facilities are not accessible after 12 am. Additionally, certain areas of the gym are locked after midnight.

some equipment is broken and no good for those with longer limbs also in incredible busy at be a time from 4 to 9. there is also leaking water pipes and very very bright lights in the late hours of night which can be distracting/ uncomfortable. the gym changing rooms toilets are often dirty but the gym overall is clean

I do really like to go to JD.
Its awesome place to train. All the necessary equipment and other things are there.
It would be nice if user can access multiple times during the day.

The gym is well laid out, it is stress free to use also is clean and tidy. There is hassle and it does what it says on the tin very good

Extremely easy to get set up at the gym, and get started. I registered, got the app, got in and started using the gym without any issues. Everything is straight forward and simple. Staff are present if you need any help, but so far it's all been pretty intuitive.

The facilities are basically fine although most machines have something worn out on them, most times I walk around there are weights left on the floor in thoroughfares while staff stand in conversation, and bikes chained to the stairway handrails is a constant problem, as is the out of order lift.

If you are just looking for somewhere with a roof and dumbbells, then this will do. If you’re looking to train seriously, I would not recommend JD Gym. The squat racks are great - unless you want to adjust the height in any way, because the racks are angled forward and the safeties are unmovable. If they’re too high for you, you could always get out of the rack and have absolutely no support whatsoever. The benches are so smooth that benching with good form is nearly impossible without sliding around like it’s greased up, and using a mat to counteract it is nigh on impossible because the mats are so thick and way bigger than they need to be. It would do in a pinch, but in the long term I cannot recommend it.
To clarify, it works. It functions as a gym and you can do enough to get a decent session in there, but for someone with a long-term commitment, there are better options out there.

Gym equipment is quite old, only one machine of most things. Dark weight section area. Blood stained tissue on the floor and sweat stains on benches.

Great gym but equipments are old and small sauna

Your belongings are not safe in JD especially your bikes. People steal there and the gym staffs doesn't care about your belongings.
Lift is not working to take your bike all the way upstairs. Camera is there but staffs don't care about the bikes.
Not even a notice to the members to raise an awareness about the unsecured premises.
JD gym is limited to the public access. Not safety, no staff around to talk to.
Inside of the gym looks attractive but don't be deceived by their service. They will steal your belongings. Join JD at your own risk.

The city centre gym is very tired looking now. .. could really do with some new equipment in the strength area, spotted at least 2 broken benches.
No one seems to put their weights back and since only staff member was locked away in his office, no enforcement either.
Only positive is that after a number of years they finally installed a new bike lock station. Despite this, there was still 3 bikes locked on the stair case though on my last visit!
Toilets were stinky, didn't feel like their was any ventilation in there.

Lift is out of order STILL! You have to understand that not everyone who visits a gym will be fit and healthy. It will be people working towards that, so 5 sets of stairs can be impossible! Especially because some people have knee issues and will only use soft on knee exercise equipment. I tore my tendons almost 4 years ago and still struggle with stairs but can do an hour on the cross trainer without issues. Fix the lift, it's been long enough. And why not have signs up apologising?? Nothing to say it's out of order apart from a hazard sticker on one lift. And the water fountain is still giving out warm water ...should be cold. Or have the option for either. Your gym in Llanishen has it and still has cleaning supplies available too. Your Cardiff city center ....standard should be a little better. It used to be the best gym pre-covid and now it's like you can't be bothered.

Really friendly, easy to access, I like the big room for stretching/weights etc. Loads of choice of working out for strength and cardio. Music not too loud. Fab showers and sauna (nice surprise that). Friendly staff. I'd like a little more info on how to uses some of the equipment, but people were there to ask. Many thanks

The workout floor is huge, there are enough machines for everyone. The equipment looked clean.
