JD Gyms - Chesterfield Reviews 

Having joined the xercise4 less before JD took over i and my friends decided to stay at the gym they gave the gym a full makeover which was very much needed we were told that we could have full use of the facility available ,when the new management took over i took it upon myself to ask if we could use the spin studio when there wasn't any classes on the then manager said fill your boots gave is blessing so every weekend several of my friends used to spin no issues at all recently the management as changed and he as now said we can no longer use the room for group spin as it doesn't follow the JD brand so the room will now be empty as they don't provide spin classes at the weekend and this is very upsetting for several of my friends who now feel alienated

Massive improvement on last owner

Great gym. Probably one of the best I've been to. Always clean and tidy, spacious. And most importantly loads of equipment!

The gym is excellent with modern equipment and facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful also.

Excellent quality and range of equipment. Changing rooms very small for the size of the gym.

The gym equipment is excellent and there is plenty of it, apart from the leg curl & leg extension machines which are extremely popular but there is only one of each. For such a massive well equipped gym I'm surprised the changing rooms are so small and only 6 showers, this will be a problem at busy times. There is a good atmosphere and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. JD Gym's are excellent value for money too.

I’ve been training at gyms for 12 years. I have been a member at at least a handful, and I must say JD is head and shoulders above the rest.

The staff are extremely friendly, always look to be polite and build rapport with members. Whether it be through asking how your training is going, or just offering helpful form technique advice.

The gym culture with other members there is great, tidying up your plates after your sets for example is the norm. Whereas at previous gyms I went to it was a rarity.

Finally the equipment there is plentiful and in good condition. For example there are plenty of racks and platforms on offer for barbell work.

Great location and easy for me to get to and park. The amount of machines available means you never find yourself struggling to get on with your workout. The facilities are spot on as well with plenty of areas to get cleaning supplies to wipe down your area after a workout.

Would recommend to anyone thinking about joining a gym!

This Gym was previously owned by Excercise 4 less.Under them it was a fantastic gym.There used to be two of most weight machines which saved customers waiting about.JD reduced this to mainly only 1 of each and replaced those taken away with bikes that are hardly used.There used to be a reception area where you could speak to the staff if needed-JD removed this.The cleaning used to be second to none very efficient staff that not only hoovered everywhere,but constantly cleaned the equipment-JD stopped the latter leaving the customer to be relied on to do this.Not the best decision considering we are in the middle of an epidemic.J.D also didn't honour the former agreements and doubled the price of the memberships. Having said all that, it is an okay Gym.But if it aint broke why fix it!!

Really friendly and helpful staff, great range of equipment and classes, all very clean. Fantastic atmosphere and non-judgemental environment. I love it there.

I feel that for the price there should be an online booking portal for classes (there could be a charge on the no shows like other gyms do, as this is your excuse for not having one is that people turn up) also feel there should be more of the classes that people use such as Body Combat and Spin in better time slots.

Other than that the gym equipment is adequate.

Great gym, clean, well stocked with plenty of equipment. Never been at a point where I’ve struggled to get on machines, access weights. Highly recommend.

No sauna in this jds but awesome non the less

Fab choice of classes

The gym and staff are fantastic. I've ventured through all gyms in Chesterfield, and can wholeheartedly say this has the most to offer from, equipment, staff knowledge to atmosphere.

I’ve been a member of JD gym for three months now in Chesterfield. Enormous space , a fantastic quantity of quality equipment, including a lot of free weights. My only complaint is the music, continual banging modern high energy techno. Could do with some variety.

Since the reopening I can never get on any of the weights I want to use no matter what time I go.

Some people tend to use one piece of equipment and also leave there personal stuff at another ineffectively using 2 lots of equipment and once and nothing gets said by the people working there.

The price has doubled from £9.99 a month to £19.99 and personally cant see what extra you get for it as they have took away some equipment that was doubled up which meant you could actually get them.
