Entered the gym using QR code then realised I had left something in the car so I left using QR code to the car park. On trying to re-enter with newly generated QR code the doors would not open, after the eighth failed attempt I went home.

A great quality price offer as long as you are autonomous at the gym. I ve now been for 2 weeks at lunch time and used shower and bathroom: premises are clean and people respectful. Can be a little chilly but it is a big surface. Missing the few extras you would get from a more expensive gym (food&drink offer, sauna, swimming pool) but does it really matter? Not at this price.

Rejoined to train for an Ultra Marathon. It’s alright but I hate gyms that have people setting up tripods to film themselves in. I’ll be cancelling my membership soon.

When I first moved to JD Darlington it was the best! I’ve noticed over the years it’s gone down standard wise. Turning more into a youth club with children clearly underage to be training causing nuisances, equipment being sub par, deadlift platforms being bowed and bars rolling all over the place on them, plates constantly missing or in the wrong places and only 2 moveable benches most often in use at the smith machines causing long waits to use them. Just needs a refresh on kit and equipment and a stricter policy with youths

Gym cold this morning as every winter still need to sort heating out! Will lose members if not sorted! Gym actually looked clean today! Pet hates not just me but other members, members training in jeans and shirts on treadmills then weights have these people got interviews with the treadmills? Some training in work gear also jewsons and other work gear not hygienic! People bringing coats and bags in gym should be in lockers! Gym Needs to be monitored more to stop these issues apart from that decent gym

Always freezing cold in the gym. Equipment quite old. and no sauna (which is rare for a JD gym)

Great classes and instructors, a good mix of equipment and not a bad price. Love the fact it’s 24 hrs and classes cover early morning and evening sessions.

Staff and classes are great but some pt never stay long ,pay them more maybe in line with inflation.
Cleaner never stops !could do with extra staff to put weights in order but that's clientele fault ,all in all still a good gym with plenty if space if busy and plenty of handweight available. Maybe an update needed on fixed machines.

The different classes on offer gave me the inspiration I needed to get out and get moving. The gym app is easy to use and wide range of equipment available is perfect. Staff are helpful and nice atmosphere

Darlington Gym is nice and clean but closing the changing rooms at 10pm is no good to me. I work a lot of back shifts not finishing till usually 10pm so can't go. Having to go home straight from work just to get changed then coming back out to go to the gym is too much of a faff so realistically can only use 1 week every 3 bit of a shame. Wish I was told this when signing up

Disappointing Experience – Safety, Accountability and Respect Ignored.
I’m writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with JD Gyms and to warn other members — particularly women — about the way concerns are handled by management.
During a recent visit, my phone was greatly damaged as a result of reckless behaviour by a group of young males in the gym. Despite having clearly set up equipment for myself, one individual jumped onto it, dislodging a weight which landed on my phone, leaving me feeling intimidated, upset and frustrated. Staff later confirmed the incident via CCTV, acknowledged the behaviour, and even banned the individuals involved — implicitly accepting the behaviour and actions were unacceptable.
Despite this, JD Gyms has completely refused to accept any responsibility. Their management has shown little interest in resolving the matter or even offering support. I was told to take it up with the individuals involved — rather than the gym recognising that they failed to enforce their own rules or provide a safe environment. Their attitude has been dismissive, evasive, and frankly disrespectful.
This isn’t just about a phone. It’s about how a business responds when a female member is made to feel unsafe, ignored, and passed around between managers who want to wash their hands of the issue. There was no apology, no accountability, and no effort to make things right — just an attempt to pass the blame.
JD Gyms may have impressive equipment, but their attitude toward member safety and responsibility is seriously lacking. I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending them to anyone who expects even basic standards of care, support, or professionalism when something goes awry.

I really like the gym and the equipment that's helped me loose weight and my metal health but I have given 4 stars I find people are so miserable and bit rude when I smile at them which isn't nice at all
