First time after fifteen years
Clean, well laid out gym with plenty of equipment from exercise machines to free weights. Very useful indicator on web site for how busy the gym is so can decide when you want to go. Being able to go anytime of day or night fits in with a variable timetable, not having time is no excuse!

loads of equipment and space.
Great, clean, tidy, loads of room between each piece of equipment, no-one as an ego problem. No-one is screaming when lifting weights. Great all round place to de stress. It's what's needed. People go to the gym to get away from life for an hour or so.

Cheap but not cheerful
Awful gym. Very cold. Puts me off going. Very dark with terrible lighting. Machines are dated and showers are broke.

Very dissatisfied member …
In week one of my new membership I attended two different classes, both run by the same instructor. On both occasions she was late in arriving and the classes started 10 minutes late. The room was freezing cold, the instructor had music on so loud that people were setting up as far away from the speakers as possible. The instructor shouted inaudible instructions into her microphone, distorted by having to compete with the music. A dreadful experience on both occasions. I have immediately resigned my membership.

The Manager is friendly & staff member jamie lee is very helpful and friendly, it's a lot cleaner now also, only bug barer is coats and bags in gym not lockers, also members training in jeans and work clothes and high visibility vest, presence on floor to guide the younger members as they are overloading machines and not training correctly will end up with injuries,

All the equipment was great

Etiquette and hygiene-free gym.
The vast majority of users do not return their dumbbells to their respective racks, nor do they strip the barbells when finished. Nobody wipes down their benches after finishing, a trend in the wider Darlington area it seems, a phenomena I have not encountered anywhere else in the UK in over 15 years of training in many gyms throughout the UK and Ireland, granted, JD Darlington does not provide paper towels or sanitary spray to clean said benches, the reason being according to staff "We haven't provided any cleaning equipment since COVID"... In what universe does this make sense? Absolutely disgusting lack of cleanliness and standard gym etiquette, which is a pity, because it is a very well-kitted out gym. Do better.

The lockers are horrendous half of them…
The lockers are horrendous half of them are broken and the atmosphere wasn’t great , the music was poor and low , no viable members of staff on site and weights were all over the place
